The traditional breakdown is.
- the rehearsal dinner
- gifts for the bride and groom
- their own lodging and travel expenses
- their own wedding clothes

A more non-traditional breakdown is
-All beverages served at the reception
-limousine service
-music for the wedding reception

What it really comes down to is what they are willing to pay for and what you and your parents feel comfortable with them paying for. One thing you can do is pool the resources from all sources and open a wedding bank account. This is a great way to keep within what you have for your budget and gives you and your groom control over what the money is allocated for.

I agree with Nicole...good answer! I think in today's wedding planning it is anything goes, but traditionally the rehearsal dinner... I think it is great when parent pitch afterall can be very expensive.

Yes, I agree with Nicole and Jahari.

Also, I've had Groom's family pay for the wedding favors, Rehearsal dinner, Bride and Groom Gift, and Beverages for reception.

Hey it's family. why any rules?

What are they willing and able to do?

We are in a different time...think outside the box with everything and be flexible.

Enjoy the planning, it is such a fun time of your journey.

Sometimes I see the grooms parents paying for the hotel of the families and bridal parties. Not often do I get payed by the grooms parents though. It's also very common for the groom's parents to pay for the honeymoon
