It's not too late at all. If you're going to send them, you should send them within the next month. It's common etiquette to send invitations at least 6 weeks before the big day, and save the dates can be sent any time before that. If you have a lot of relatives coming in from out of town, the sooner the better, so they can make travel arrangements.

Hey I am getting married on the same day! lol, no I don't think that I am going to do save the dates but I would send them out like maybe two to two and a half months before and then send out the invites like 4 weeks before or something like that.

I think that if the wedding is over 6 months away then Save the Dates are a good idea, they are a greater idea if your wedding falls on a holiday weekend. If it is 4 months away then it is time for invitations and "too late" for save the dates. I say "too late" because they are no longer necessary but as in all other things wedding, they are up to you. If you saw some save the dates that you think are uber cute and match your wedding theme and you just "have" to send them, go right ahead. But if you haven't purchased them then they are not worth the extra cost. Just send your invites out by January at the latest.

Typically, Save the Dates are mailed approx. 6 months prior to a wedding. It's always a good idea to send them (unless it's much too close to mailing the invites) because so much time & effort goes into planning a wedding that you would like as many people as possible to attend. I have Save the Date Etiquette on my website - check it out. If you order them soon, you'll still be able to mail them out 4 1/2 mo. prior. Do not follow the previous advice of mailing the invitations in Jan. They need to be mailed 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding date. 8 for sure if you have not mailed STD cards. Please call or email if you have any more questions. I've been working with invitations for over 20 years.
