Icecream Cake????
My FH doesn't eat cake at all(crazy, I know!) I am not that into the cake, but I love icecream! Have you heard of anyone doing an icecream cake or what are your thoughts on that?

I've never heard of anyone doing that, but I think it could be really cool! Pardon the pun. LOL. Just make sure that the reception location has a place for it. Obviously, it can't be out for the entire reception so it might be best to serve it at dinner when everyone is still seated (do a cake cutting photo op before dinner).

I have had a few experiences where brides have opted not to do a wedding cake. Two of the brides did a "First Scoop" photo then did an ice cream sundae bar which was a lot of fun for the guests and the other did a huge brownie spread.

Who wrote the rule that there has to be a wedding cake? If ice cream cake is what you want . . . then I say go for it! It's you day so enjoy!

What about serving cream puffs? As long as the event venue has the refrigeration space to keep them cool until they're needed, these make an elegant alternative to cake. Plus, they're usually chilled, which is very similar to ice cream, without all the muss and fuss of spoons and bowls. Rocky Treats Patisserie in Highlands Ranch has 7-9 flavors of fillings, and they're fabulous!

I think it's a fantastic idea, I wanted that, but got vetoed. If you have a Cold Stone Creamery by you, they do wedding cakes. They were at one of the bridal shows I went to. One issue that someone suggested to me is do you have a way to keep it cold. Or ask the store where you would get it how long it takes to thaw.

I say go for the icecream cake. If you have a lot of guests I would opt for both. But I have seen all sorts of things, and if icecream is what you like..it's YOUR day. Congratulations and good luck.

As someone who has done hundreds of weddings, An Ice cream cake may be a disaster!! You wont be able to display it for long so no focal point, and if its too frozen you cant cut the thing, LOL
Here is an option that might be fun, I had a bride do this last year.
They had a Fake Cake for pictures that I decorated with fresh flowers and they had the Cold Stone Creamery come in to create custom mixed ice cream for the guests on site, It was a huge hit! The bride and groom mixed their faves together and shared a spoonfull with each other for the traditional sharing photo.
Ice cream buffets are also a hit and the guest can add sprinkles and cake pieces if they want.
be creative but realistic,if the weather is hot in your area in June.

I haven't never heard of that, which might be a wonderful idea for the both of you! It's something that would be memorable for both you and your guests and a cool treat for your guests. However, you might have a bit of an issue storing it! So if you can find something to keep it frozen in and have the photographer snap some quick (but well done) pics then it should be fine. Besides, this is YOUR wedding. In the end it is what matters to you.

My Cousin's Wedding Had an Ice Cream Cake and he guests coming back for seconds. So for sure it'll run out. The only thing I'd say is the downturn of it is that its really hard at first to cut and it makes a mess to handle. Then you also gotta give out quickly before it melts all over the table.

I agree with Creative Elegance Weddings! At Eve's Cakes we specialize in display cake rentals. Most of the brides that come to us for cake rentals is because they want something "out of the norm" for their weddings. Including but not limited to an ice cream cake for a summer wedding :-) Believe me I've had those. What you have to remember is that it's your special day. Try to find vendors that will go above and beyond to make your dream wedding come true :-) and that can come up with ideas and ways to give you exactly what you want.

Best of Luck!

I just had an ice cream cake at my wedding on 9/19 and was a HUGE hit. We got it from Carvel. They made us a fake cake that looked just like the 3 tier ice cream cake and switched them out 20 minutes before cake cutting. If you want to see pics let me know valentinegirlxo@comcast.net

Does your fiance like pie? You could do wedding pies, depending on the number of guests - like a brownie ice cream pie, or a pie and ice cream buffet. That is another option which could be personalized to your taste, and would be fun!
