Does it matter who's name goes first on personalized items?
A lot of the items I would like to purchase for favors and also the cake topper comes personalized. Does it matter if his name goes first or mine?

Congratulations on your engagement! Think about it this way...after you are married, the groom's name should be first on all items. The bride to be should always be first mentioned in the save the dates, wedding invitations and programs.

It honestly just depends on what the item is - most times the man's name goes first

The bride's name should be first on all things wedding related. This would include invitations, favors, engraving on the cake knife, congrats banners or signs, etc. After the wedding, the groom's name should be first. This would include thank you notes and any future correspondence.

I hate to say it but the Reverend is incorrect. When it pertains to anything social in nature, especially weddings. Any printed items for the wedding, bride's name is always first.

I understand it is the rule or whatever that the womans name goes before the mans... however I changed that on as many things as I could. Matches, napkins, etc., all have his name first, which is MY preference.

I actually tried to make it equal. But somehow on the day of the wedding stuff, for the programs and the more prominent favors, and paper centerpieces, his name was first. my friends were upset!!! ;p I would have put my name first on most of that wedding day stuff, now that I think of it!!! Now, our deal is: my name comes first for the next couple of years! lol he really doesn't care.

Ladies first, always. As with the Monogram the first letter of his last name goes in the middle and is largest. The brides first initial is first in line and is slightly smaller followed by the larger last initial of the groom then the smaller first initial of the groom.

Before you are married you always here Bride and Groom after you are married you hear Husband and wife. So that is what we are going with, all pre-wedding my name will go first after we are married his name will come first.
Happy New Year and Congratulations to all the couples
