Additional Questions and Answers

{Question (1.)*Clients Around the U.S.*}
I live out of town. Would it be difficult to work with you since you are so far away?
Answer(1.)
Actually, many of my clients live all over the United States. Current technology and quick/reliable shipping options allow for a very easy process. I do give shipping discounts throughout the year, so please keep an eye out for those coupons. My prices and offerings are very competitive, which draws clients from all over the U.S.

{Question (2.)*Shipping Product Notification*}
When I ship my envelopes to you, how will I know that you have received them and are ready to begin the addressing service?
Answer(2.)
If So INKlined Calligraphy will notify you immediately via E-mail when your envelopes or cards arrive. A schedule is usually planned ahead of time for all projects to help everyone feel comfortable about the process. In that E-mail you will be reminded of the exact start and finish date, as well as when your product (s) will arrive to you.

{Question (3.)*Shipping Seating Scrolls*}
How do you ship seating scrolls?
Answer(3.)
Seating scrolls are shipped in a secure, waterproof mailing tube. All of our products are shipped with the highest amount of care to ensure that there is no damage to the artwork. We recommend that you have your scroll professionally framed. It is very important to use the proper tools when framing your unique piece of art.

{Question (4.)*Client Delay in Envelopes*}
My envelopes are delayed from the printer. They are supposed to arrive today for you to receive on Friday, but will not be here until next Wednesday. Can you still fulfill the calligraphy addressing order on time?
Answer(4.)
If So INKlined Calligraphy understands that delays occasionally happen that are out of the clients control. We will do our very best to move jobs around to accommodate these mishaps. If So INKlined Calligraphy keeps a very busy schedule of jobs and it is crucial to try and avoid this problem at all cost. Our recommendation is to finalize the order from your stationery provider as soon as possible. This will give everyone enough time to deal with these kind of mistakes. A rush fee may also apply if it affects another clients job due date.

{Question (5.) *Saving Money*}
I am trying to save money, but I really want my child's baptism invitations done in calligraphy. Can you give me some options on saving money?
Answer(5.)
Absolutely! I want everyone to get exactly what they want for the best price. There are many solutions to this very common problem.
1. Make it into a stamp for a "do it yourself" project. This is especially great for dark colored paper. The process is easy. I would design a name, monogram, invitation, drawing, etc. for a fee and then have it made into a stamp. The stamp is yours to keep and could be used for many different projects. All sizes are available.
2. Another idea is to use your own printer for reproduction. The entire invitation would be designed by hand. I would then send you the scanned in file to print at home or at a local printer. Very easy if you know how to use a printer.

{Question (6.) *Discounts*}
My budget is minimal for calligraphy. Do you offer any off season discounts?
Answer(5.)
This is a question I get quite often. I had a very tight budget for my wedding, so I completely understand! I will try my best to offer up ideas to help you cut corners. Occasionally, if I have a few spaces available, I will offer discounts. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the work I can only take on so many jobs at a time. I work exclusively with clients on a personal level to create beautiful end results. I am also a perfectionist with many years of experience and cutting edge one of a kind designs. There are never any hidden fees or set up fees. I also never over book. My goal is to give each and every project special attention. Book your spot on my schedule today with confidence!

Tips and Advice

If you are trying to decide whether or not to use a professional calligrapher here are a few helpful hints to make this process a little bit easier.

1.  Give yourself plenty of time to interview several calligraphers.

If you wait until the last minute, many calligraphers will be booked up especailly in the prime wedding season months. Make sure that your calligrapher gives you an upfront price quote with no hidden fees. Also ask for samples and/or proofs throughout the process. Remember that samples take time, so don't be offended if a calligrapher charges for a sample. Many calligraphers, including myself will deduct all sample costs if the client purchases a service.

2. Remember that the cheapest calligrapher may not always be the best choice.
Don't get me wrong, everyone has a budget and has different degrees of what they like in the way of calligraphy. There are many different levels of calligraphy. Be on the lookout for the background of a calligrapher. Many less expensive calligraphers have not been trained in the arts. Often times, they have taught themselves. There is nothing wrong with that, but just keep that in the back of your mind when selecting your vendor. You may not get the end result that you were looking for. Part of getting an education in calligraphy is learning what types of inks, papers, nibs, design, and colors will work with different projects. Some envelopes and papers require special treatment before calligraphy can be done. Without this treatment ink may feather or spread. One other thing....  make sure that the end result will be balanced and/or straight. For example, envelope addressing can look messy if a calligrapher "eye balls" the address. A guide sheet must be used for perfection.

3. Last but not least....   address list setup
It is important to ask the calligrapher what his/her guidelines are for setting up a list. Fully spelled out words and correct layouts are crucial. Many calligraphers are visual and focus mostly on each letter. They are not looking for mistakes. Please  ask lots of questions on etiquette if you have them, bc your calligrapher should be happy to assist you.  It should be a painless process! My prices are based on my background education and the amount of time that I put into perfecting each letter. I refuse to do sloppy work and I never over book.
