So Pretty In Print
Invitation Tips
BROWSING
Begin by looking at various invitation companies to observe the various designs, colours, printing methods, and prices. Get a feel of what appeals to you, what styles and colours will compliment your wedding, and of course, what style of invitation fits in your budget.
WHEN TO ORDER
Aim to order your invitations 4-8 months before your wedding date to ensure you receive your colour choices and designs. (rush orders may limit product availability)
DO OVERCOMPENSATE
Don’t order the exact number of invites you’ll need – get 10-15 extra because it’s better to have leftovers than to have to reorder more later, which can get pricey. Note that you’ll send one invitation per household (not per guest), but a child over eighteen living at home gets his or her own.
PROOF
Before granting your invitation designer the “okay” to print be sure to proof read your invitation several times. Sometimes it is best to have a second and third party to observe any misspelled names, locations, address’, and times.
REPLY DATE
Your guests should receive your invitation 8-10 weeks before your wedding date so it enables them enough time to send back their reply card. Your reply card should be due one month before the date of your wedding.
TIP: Lightly mark (in pencil) a number on an upper corner on the back of each response card. Keep a number list with corresponding names. When you can’t read someone’s handwriting, you can use your code to uncover the attendee.
MAILING
Before you send out your invitation be sure to have it weighed at the post office to ensure you provide the correct postage amount per envelope.
