About

Silver Screen Photography's specialty is wedding photography! While we also offer family portraiture, seniors and children, they make up a small percentage of our business. This helps in our approach to the art of weddings and keeps us in tune with the latest trends and styles that brides are searching for.

Principal photographer and owner Steve Jones began studying photography in 1978 and began photographing weddings in 1983. Over the years he has changed with the times moving from very traditional photography to a more contemporary style with mostly candid work, while still working well with the posed images that the couples wish to have.

The goal of the studio is to not just say that the brides' wishes come first, but to actually deliver those wishes. Being a small studio keeps that goal realistic and we always go the extra mile to keep smiles on all of our clients faces!

I highly recommend Steve Jones to all my clients. His personality and dedication to engaged couples in unsurpassed.
Steve Jones is the best to work with. He has a lot of respect for other vendors and makes sure he stays out of our way and vise versa. He takes great care in his clients and his work. My husband and I hired Steve to photograph our wedding and the pictures couldn't have been better!
I have worked with Silver Screen Photography and find that they are very talented in capturing the spirit of the day for the Bride and Groom. I use some of their photographs in my albums I show my customers as well as on my web site. Beautiful work! Linda Creative Concepts & Designs floral studio.

Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
Spot-coloring, black & white and sepia toning are all available! As well as any other special requests that may come our way!

Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
We can handle any type of lighting scenario, be it a candlelit service or bright sunlight.

Is your media preference film or digital?
I was a film shooter from the day I first began studying photography in 1978, but began to gravitate towards the digital format in 2003 as the technology reached a point that I felt was comparable to film. It has surpassed film now, in my opinion (and most other professionals!) as almost every lab uses digital format as their primary printing format. Even if film is used, they scan it in order to have it in digital format. This scanning process causes added contrast which, in my opinion, makes a less than perfect image.

How many photographers do you work with?
I (Steve) am the primary photographer at every wedding and always bring a female associate as the second shooter. This allows her to photograph the "getting ready" images of the bride. There are 3 female associates and one of them always accompanies me.

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Yes! I have never missed an event, BUT I do have a backup plan that would have two of my associates there "just in case"!

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
Only one per day.

Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes, as stated above.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
I always bring two complete sets of equipment for both myself and the other photographer. This consists of multiple cameras, lenses, flashes, batteries, etc.

Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Yes, as just mentioned!

Do you charge hourly or full day?
Most packages have a time limit, but I am flexible with it as my clients will tell you.

Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
Yes. $100 per hour. (However, the first extra hour is FREE!)

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
Again, it depends. Even when I take a break, I make sure not to leave the room in the event that something starts to happen that I need to capture. And we never take a break at the same time.

Do you charge for travel?
Within 50 miles of the DFW area: no. More than 50 miles outside the DFW area: yes. Rate will vary depending on location.

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Images are posted online about 10 days after the wedding. The proofbook and/or CD will be ready about 10 days after that.

In what format are the initial proofs offered?
Website; CD; spiral bound, magazine style proofbook.

How long can the client keep the proofs?
The proofbook is theirs to keep. The CD is included in some packages and available for purchase in others. Whenever it is chosen, it is theirs to keep along with a copyright release!

Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
Yes, but will share with the clients as previously stated.

Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes, for advertising purposes.

Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
See above.

Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes, see above.

What kind of albums do you offer?
Both traditional "slip in" type albums as well as "flush mount" albums which allow for more creativity in the layout.

When will the client get the final album?
Most couples place their order about 3-4 months after the wedding. Once the album order is placed, it takes 4-10 weeks. The reason for this wide time difference is due to the type of album ordered as well as the time of year that it is ordered. When an album is ordered during a high volume time of year, it will take longer simply because it takes the album company longer to fill the order.
