Tips and Advice
Tips on Choosing Your Wedding Photographerby Zuriana’s Elegant Occasions Should you choose an independent photographer or a large photography studio for your wedding photography needs? As with any business there is a benefit to working with a smaller company as opposed to working with a larger company. This philosophy applies to the wedding industry as well. I personally recommend that my clients work with independent photographers. There are a number of benefits to working with independent photographers:• you and your wedding are not just a number • you are looked at as real people, not just income • you receive personal attention and assistance
• independent photographers have time for you and will spend time with you • you receive great value for your money
You should take your time when choosing your photographer and choose wisely. You’re investing a lot of time and money for your wedding. Don’t you want the right photographer to capture memories of your special day?• they care about you as a person • they are flexible I call the following a mini horror story. I have a client that I worked with last year. They were married late April at Glenview Mansion in Rockville, MD. Glenview is a gorgeous mansion. The wedding was beautiful and the weather was perfect for an outdoor wedding. Guess what, the bride hasn’t chosen her pictures yet and she will pay dearly for them if she decides she still wants them. Unfortunately my client chose a large photography studio to take photos and videos of her wedding. She chose the studio by herself and before I met her. Because the bride and the groom did not place their order and/or pay their final balance within the time frame specified in the photography agreement they are accruing weekly late fees. You read that correctly. They are accruing weekly late fees on their wedding pictures. At this point they owe about $400 extra for just photography. No telling what late fees they may owe for their video. I am so upset for them. They are a fabulous couple and were terrific to work with. Chances are if they had an independent photographer they would not be paying late fees for not rushing to get their wedding pictures. As a Wedding Planner I personally like working with independent photographers because: • They are great to work with
• They provide personalized attention • Some offer packages tailored to the clients needs • They provide images to me which help showcase all of my hard work • They are flexible How to Select a Professional Wedding Planner
