Kakes by Karen, established in Naples since 2004, was started by Karen M. Vazquez with the help of her husband, Ricardo, and their family. With cake decorating experience acquired in 1994 through various schools and classes, its owner has over 14 on and off years of experience in the industry.  The company is located off Old 41 inside North Collier Industrial Park in North Naples, FL. 

"We pride ourselves in making hand elaborated, custom-made cakes that are never refrigerated, providing our customers a promise of freshness." 

We specialize in baking and designing cakes for every special occasion that are decorated in high quality, glycerin free, delicious rolled fondant.   

Each cake is designed separately, working with the client, using only fresh ingredients to ensure quality.  Some of our designs have been influenced and inspired by techniques learned from international chefs, as well as various judges and Food Network Cake Challenge winners.  Both traditional and contemporary techniques are used to accomplish your dream cake.

Wow is an understatement. Honestly, I know that when Karen is making the cake, we're going to ens up with a masterpiece that tastes as incredible as it looks. Do you offer private tastings or open house tastings?
Yes. Tastings at our "kake boutique" are complimentary.
 
What are your tasting hours?
By appointment only, as we bake everything fresh :-).
 
Describe how you price, such as by slice or by tier, for your cakes?
We price our cakes by the slice, beginning at $5.50 each.
 
Do you offer custom cakes, or do you work with pre-designed styles?
We love working on custom cakes and welcome ideas :-)
 
What (if any) special ingredients, such as fresh fruits or farm-fresh butter, do you use in your cakes?
All of our ingredients are purchased fresh at the beginning of each week. We work with fresh strawberries, raspberries, and carrots. Our cakes have no milk for those who are lactose intolerance. Our recipes are done from scratch.
 
On average, how far in advance of the event do you prepare the cake?
We prepare every cake the evening prior the wedding. All of our cakes undergo a separate moistening process with our "secret sauce" :-).
 
How many cakes do you schedule for a typical weekend?
On average we can accommodate five weddings a weekend but try to do no more than seven.
 
Will you work with the client's florist to garnish the cake?
Definitely. I was a bride myself so I try to be very accommodating. If your florist is placing the flowers on the cake please let us know in advance so that we can work together with them in making sure no pesticides go into your cake.
 
What (if any) cake accessories, such as a cake stand or cake cutter, do you rent out?
We rent cake stands and can assist you in finding Letter Monograms and Cupcake Stands.
 
Do you offer delivery? If yes, how much is your average delivery fee?
We do offer delivery. Price varies depending on the distance. Please call for quote.

Additional Questions and Answers
What type of icing do you work with and why?  We work strictly in glycerin free, great tasting, high quality fondant icing.  This icing will not melt nor become perishable at room temperature.  Its main job is that of protecting your fillings and keeping the moisture inside your cake.

How should I store the cake after my wedding?  Every cake is made fresh for your special event and individually moistened with our "secret sauce".  All cakes are decorated the evening prior your wedding.  Because fondant seals in the moisture inside your cake it protects it from becoming dry.  Once your cake has been cut and that protective barrier is no longer there, it is highly recommended that you cover any leftovers with plastic wrap and aluminum foil prior refrigeration.  If you place your leftover cake without proper wrapping, the rest of the food in the fridge is going to absorve the moisture from the most recent item placed in the fridge...in this case your cake.  This can cause it to become dry.  When at a reception site, ask the Property to properly cover your leftovers immediately after cutting so that you can enjoy these for days to come.

How far in advance do you deliver?  We try to deliver with no less than two hours prior your event.  During season this time can be as close as an hour prior your event as traffic intensifies.
