The Historic Mankin Mansion is great - it is beautiful, unique and manned by a staff of long-time event professionals who really care about their clients. I have had the privilege of producing a special event at the mansion, and even stayed there during the event as a working "guest". The breakfasts alone convinced me that I have to go back! You really can't find a property like this one anywhere else in the region. It is phenomenal, and I not only recommend it, but I hope to have the opportunity to go back again soon.

Excellent facility and great service - perfect for your wedding reception and highly recommended
Every time we have a bride call and incredulously ask if we have ever been to the Historic Mankin Mansion, we are ready. Of course we have !!! It's such an amazing estate in the middle of Richmond, it's hard to believe. It feels more like a secret location that you've stumbled upon. We have come to know Paula and Martin from events for wedding professionals and also from being there the "day of" and witnessing the hard work and attention to detail that their guests effortlessly enjoy. If you want a unique wedding experience in a one-of-a-kind place, then consider The Historic Mankin Mansion.
I have known Martin and Paula Ramirez for five years and have watched in amazement and awe as they restored Historic Mankin Mansion to the beautiful facility now available for weddings. You will not find another venue that is more focused on customer service. Martin, Paula, Laura and the rest of the staff will be the perfect hosts, and because of their attention to detail, your wedding day will be "stress-free" and exactly what you've dreamed of. Martin also happens to be one of the best Disc Jockeys in the area, having been behind the DJ booth scratching and mixing for over 20 years! I've seen him in action many times and am always blown away by his talent and skill. I am grateful for friends like Martin and Paula, because I know I can always count on them. Therefore, I can say with certainty that as "one of their brides" you will also be able to count on them to make your wedding dreams come true.
Historic Mankin Mansion is a beautiful place to get married. I've delivered many cakes there, and the grounds always look picture-perfect. It's close enough to the airport to be very convenient for out of town guests, but it's secluded enough that it feels like it's out in the country. The staff and owners are all very nice and easy to work with.

Tips and Advice
For the Bride and Groom with out of town family and friends, a  wedding weekend should be a strong consideration. With all the functions taking place throughout the weekend it would be ideal to have one central location to host them all. From your rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on Friday night to the ceremony and reception on Saturday. A Bed and Breakfast where you and your immediate family or wedding party can stay the entire weekend, receive breakfast each morning. Invite additional guests throughout the weekend to spend more quality time with you.

Below is a sample of one of the many ways you can enjoy a wedding weekend.

Friday – Afternoon

You have just checked in and are lounging in the Carriage House honeymoon suite. Over the previous months, our Event Planning Director has helped you plan every aspect of your wedding weekend – down to the last detail.  You feel far more relaxed on the eve of your wedding than you’d ever imagined possible. Your family and guests staying at the Mansion are being picked up from the airport by our shuttle service.  You stroll through the gardens and join your family and bridal party at the gazebo.  Our event coordinators walk you through the ceremony rehearsal and ensure that everything is in order for your big day. The rehearsal dinner begins in the Grand Rockefeller Room shortly thereafter.  You enjoy an intimate dinner in the company of those people who are most special to you.

Later that evening, you’ve planned a more casual gathering for your bridal party and out of town guests – perhaps casino games, a poker tournament or some karaoke.  Some guests retreat to the Game Room with the pool table, dartboard, TV, mini bar, and other amenities. Your guests are grateful to have enjoyed more personal time with you and the family. The night ends and the Carriage House is a short walk away. Your guests retreat to their suites and cottages. Others are shuttled back to their hotels.

Saturday

You wake up at your leisure. You are already here - there is no rush to go anywhere - everyone is coming to you.  Breakfast awaits you and your guests in the Dining Room, followed by soothing massages for the bride and groom.  A hairstylist and manicurist wait in the Carriage House poised to transform you and your friends into bride and bridesmaids.  Meanwhile, the groom and groomsmen spend the morning playing a round of golf, all arranged by the Mansion staff.  They are now in the Game Room area playing pool, watching TV and getting ready for the ceremony.

The ceremony finally arrives. A harpist plays in the gardens.  You travel from the Carriage House to the ceremony site in a horse drawn carriage – or maybe you just take a stroll over the brick walkways arm in arm with your father, sharing a tender moment one last time before you walk down the aisle.  The garden ceremony is beautiful, words cannot describe how you feel. Your guests are welcomed into the Mansion and gardens for a cocktail hour while your special day is captured by your photographer. You join your guests under the softly glowing tent to celebrate your new marriage.  You and your guests dance the night away and before you know it, the night is over. You retire to the honeymoon suite. Your remaining guests decide to continue the party a little longer in one of the cottages.

Sunday

Everyone gathers one last time for Sunday brunch in the Dining Room.  Goodbyes and well wishes are exchanged.  Some guests are shuttled to the airport, while others decide to spend a few more days at the Mansion enjoying a short family vacation in Virginia.

Imagine…. This is only one of many endless possibilities for your wedding weekend. With the help of our event coordinators, you can customize your very own dream wedding weekend and truly make it an experience of a lifetime – one that your family and friends will remember with fondness for years to come.
