Hello, you fabulous new Brides & Grooms! I'm Christine May, owner and main photographer for Click Photography of Kansas City, and am dedicated to getting a "Wow!" factor out of my clients. Weddings are espeically wonderful to photographers because Brides and Grooms are practically gift wrapped (with all that dress fluff, hair spray, flowers, cufflings...etc) and fed to the camera. More so for me, because it's a day so special and sentimental for two people and I want them to enjoy being in the moment as much as looking back upon the pictures later on. My style of photography is taking many different approaches (photojournalistic, posed, directed...etc), but I always am considerate to my clients' needs throughout the day. I keep the focus and attention on them. Photography, traditionally back in the day, was a "grind your teeth and get it over with" type of service...but my clients have embraced the artistic value I create and put their character and humor into making it more a form of entertainment. I feel like wedding photography is a very personal service and should not only be a bunch of good images, but unique-one-of-a-kind-super-amazing images that capture my clients personalities. Feel free to check out my blog to see what I'm currently working on: www.clickphotographykc.blogspot.com
Oh my holy chicken, there are tons of little tid bits I can think of to mention for tips and advice...but to avoid a novel I will just mention the top three.
1. You get what you pay for (usually). If you have a tight budget, try to imagine what services will be most important on the day and for all the days after (psst...hint: PHOTOGRAPHY!) haha But really, Splurg on what you really care most about.
2. Have an usher or someone tell incoming ceremony guests to turn off their phones. TOO many times has the ringtone for "Sex In The City" soundtrack (or another equally bouncy ringer) gone off during the vows.
3. Remember the whole purpose of the day is to celebrate your relationship and marital commitment to your spouse. It's very frustrating, as the photographer, to watch the Bride and Groom get caught up with all the production and split up during the reception to mingle...when they should be showing each other a little love and spending the day together. Remember who you love and why. Get caught in the moment and pretend you are the only two people in the room.
