Westminster Hall was absolutely perfect for us as a ceremony AND reception site. The hall itself is incredible-- the organ, the original oak floors, the cartacombs, the second "tier," the balcony. Everything is so unique and perfect for making a special day.

If you book this hall for your reception, though, know that you are ONLY booking the hall. Some venues provide contact people who work as mini coordinators, but Westminster does not. Joanne was so nice and answered our questions well up to the day of the event, letting us do walk-throughs and meeting with us. But the day of the event, there was one person there to unlock the door and lock it at the end. (I preferred it this way, since my caterer and DOC took care of everything, I just thought that it should be said).

It's also nice that they only do one wedding a day, and you have the hall for up to four hours before the event begins for set up. We also left things like the favors, table number signs, and guest book there Friday night after the rehearsal, which made it easy on everyone.

I couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else. Just perfect.

I love all things goth and dark. Halloween is my favorite holiday. I wanted a non-traditional ceremony/reception for my wedding and Westminster Hall was the best choice. I had a beautiful wedding in a graveyard setting (sort of) which is exactly what I wanted. It was perfect for me and my black/goth theme.

Bruce was our staff person for the rehearsal and the wedding. He went above and beyond his duties for our wedding. He helped unload our decorations, alcohol, etc. the night of the rehearsal. He was also very patient when we went over the one hour time limit by 20 minutes. The night of the wedding, Bruce helped with clean up and loading. He was right there to direct the hearse (my transportation) to a secured parking spot. Bruce did an outstanding job.

I wouldn't call them complaints, but here are the reasons why I gave Westminster Hall a 4.8/5.0: I wanted my wedding date to be October 30 (All Hallow's Eve) but the Edgar Allen Poe Society books it every year for their annual Halloween bash. Not really anyone's fault, and I most definitely understand the significance. My other problem is the rental time limit. I don't understand why there is a 5 hour time limit. My wedding started at 7pm, and I would've paid for an additional 1-2 hours to make it last longer.

Overall, I am extremely happy with this venue. My guests loved it. "Unique" was the most popular word to describe my wedding, just what I was going for. They said it was "me" all the way. It was beautiful (especially at night). Although the rental fee turned out to be more than we wanted to spend on the venue, it was well worth it. It kind of evens things out, though. Having the ceremony at the hall cut the costs of having it at a church.

If you're having a Halloween/Goth wedding, Westminster Hall is the perfect place! Don't get me wrong, it's also perfect for other events, as well. The Johnson pipe organ still plays beautifully. The stained-glass windows and lighting surrounding the venue make a romantic setting.

My nephew (3 yrs. old) was the ring bearer. He refused to walk down the aisle and cried pretty much the whole time because he said the "flying man" was bothering him. He also kept saying he didn't like "the downstairs" (no one told my nephew about the catacombs underneath the building and he was never taken down there). So, if you believe in ghosts, this may not be the best place for children. It spooked quite a few people out that night. My family is still talking about the ghosts of Westminster Hall. I loved it!

A great looking place. Historic exterior looks great in evening lighting. Multi-level building makes for great wedding pictures. Staff is very communicative.

Things to look out for:
- Fire engine red hand rails. They stick out in pictures.
- No aisle runners or flowers on the floors.
- Renting your own furniture can end up being pretty pricey.

We were looking for a reception venue in the city that could hold up to 200 people and that wasn't a typical hotel ballroom. So many places are too small, and other venues that are large enough are really expensive. Westminster Hall was perfect! Plenty of space (we ended up with only 150, but it was nice not to worry about it), a reasonable price (make sure you do the math on all of the extra little fees. I think they could simplify their pricing structure a little), handicapped-accessible, a city location close but not too close to the inner harbor, and a gorgeous and unique space! Our guests loved wandering the cemetary and taking the catacombs tour during cocktail hour. And they loved the beautiful space!

Mary Jo and the entire staff were great to work with. We were able to drop things off the day before. We were able to hire a police officer through them to patrol the area in the evening. Also, they have 200 dark gray molded-plastic conference chairs that you can rent for $1 each! They're very comfortable and sooo much more affordable than other rental chairs.

What a fantastic space. We went into Westminster Hall as the last of the venues we saw, and we immediately knew that it was perfect for us. It's such a grand space, but because the room isn't just a big empty floor space (there's a "stage" of sorts, a balcony, and a kind of tier on either side of the room), it didn't seem too big for our small-ish wedding of <90 people. Our wedding was hot (it was August, after all), so we had the cocktail hour inside, but there's outdoor patio space for cocktail hour as well. We also made use of the catacombs tours, and the guests thought that was really neat.

Joanne and Mary Jo were wonderful to work with, always willing to answer and (and all!) of my questions and didn't seemed bothered at all when I needed to poke my head in to the space again to work out a few things.

We had a lot of people coming from out of town, so the location was nice because it was close to many hotels and the Inner Harbor. If you're looking for a kind of non-traditional space that isn't too non-traditional, check it out. You might be as pleasantly surprised as we were!

Westminster Hall was the most amazing venue I could imagine! They were flexible in letting us look around the site whenever we needed to and gave us the whole day to get ready. They were very responsive and helpful any time we needed to talk to them about anything. The tours were fantastic, and the whole place was absolutely stunning. I couldn't have asked for a better venue! It was perfect for our non-traditional vow renewal :) Very very worth it!

If you're looking for one-stop shopping, Westminster Hall is your venue! You would think that it would be a fiasco tearing down after the ceremony and setting up for the reception, but it was the complete oppositve...20 minutes TOPS and very unobtrusive! The historical and cultural aspects of this venue are what make it so unique...you won't feel like you're in downtown Baltimore, that's for sure! The Edgar Allan Poe burial site along with the other graves o various Baltimore historical figures is an added bonus and looks PHENOMENAL in photographs. Inside the venue, the stained glass windows, hardwood flooring, and floor to ceiling organ pipes are astonishing! PLEASE go with Westminster Hall...affordable AND stunning!

This is a great value and and fantastic venue for both the ceremony and the reception. The pipe organ, stained glass windows and lovely architecture provide a wonderful ambiance for the ceremony. Then the hall transforms easily into a super party room! The fact that the dining tables sit on a raised platform that wraps around the dance floor is terrific. Everyone is close to the action but not so close that it interfers with the dancing. And our guests enjoyed the tours of the historical catacombs and E.A. Poe monument during cocktails!
The management was delightful to work with. The administrative staff was readily available by phone and email and very cooperative and flexible. The building managers were very nice and very helpful. On the day of the wedding, Bruce was right there for anything we needed and totally on top of whatever we hadn't thought of.
It was a wonderful experience and we would certainly return for future events.

This venue is a beautiful place to hold a wedding. We had our ceremony and reception here - which was super convenient. We worked with Rebekah Owens who was wonderful. Very quick to respond to our e-mails, and flexible in our needs. We used the pipe organ for the ceremony - which was fantastic. Great great venue.

Westminster Hall is an incredible venue at an extremely reasonable rate. The staff, especially Rebekkah, is absolutely amazing to work with and is very accommodating. Our guests enjoyed the uniqueness of the venue and took full advantage of the historical site, including a tour of the catacombs that were arranged during the cocktail hour. I also loved the fact that Westminster Hall will only book one event a day- that gives plenty of time for vendors to set up!
