Horrible Staff!! The woman at the counter who i believe to be the owner was by far the rudest person I have ever delt with in my history of customer service. From the moment I walked In with my mother she ignored us. I had to walk up to her to ask her a question (if they also carried the satin jackets for the wedding dresses) she very abruptly said "you would have to Oder it" and then continued to Ignore me as if I bothered her by asking a question. Then I said " ok do you have any samples of what can be ordered." Her short and one word response was "no" .... I said "my gosh we should go to David's bridal to find a sales associate that can actually help us" and then she snapped and said " yes you should" wowwwwwwwwwwwwww literally speechless !!!!!!!!!! You just lost a sale and the chance of me ever walking back I'm that store! Rude and careless staff!!!!! Never again!!! DON'T WASTE YOU TIME! I would much rather give my business to someone who respects their customers! Sorry I bothered your time doing absolutely nothing!!

1. They don't take appointments i.e. NOT flexible
2. Rude, nasty service made me want to leave the minute I walked in
3. The "sample" dress myself and my bridesmaids came for was "sold" and they "were not sure when it would be in again"

**I work in a customer service business myself and absolutely cannot imagine treating someone the way I was treated by this woman at the Town Shop**

I had the most amazing experience at the Town Shop! The staff was professional and welcoming. They answered all of my questions and made every accommodation to make my experience special. The Town Shop Staff was very patient and devoted all of the time that I needed to find the wedding gown of my dreams! I highly recommend the Town Shop and will go to them for any special event that I attend in the future!

Despite reading some bad reviews online, I chose to go to the Town Shop because they were listed as a Premier Retailer for Maggie Sottero gowns. I have been dreaming of Maggie dresses for a long time, and fell in love with 2 on the website. When I called to see if they had those 2 gowns in stock for my appointment, they said they did not. However, they were able to get them through Maggie's loaner program for me! The day of my appointment, Maria was my consultant and she was great. She knew exactly what I was looking for but still encouraged me to try on all different styles. She did not rush me at all. Poor woman even broke a nail while helping me in a dress and didn't even care! I ended up choosing a different Maggie dress than the 2 I had specially requested but it is absolutely perfect and I can't wait til it comes in so I can try it on again! Overall it was a wonderful appointment, Kathy, Maria, and the whole staff were easy to work with in finding my dress. The only thing was that we didn't discuss price before I fell in love with my gown so it was just a tad more expensive than what I was prepared for. But for me, the dress is a huge deal and I'm willing to shell out the extra $ for the perfect dress. I highly recommend Town Shop Bridal and will be going back next month to pick out bridesmaid dresses!

I just purchased my gown here and had Giovanna as my consultant. She was fantastic! I absolutely loved her... she was quite the ball of energy! When my Nana told her that she bought her dress from the Town Shop when she got married, Giovanna went and brought the owner over so that he could personally thank her, it was really sweet. Although the owner did seem like a huge jerk (he was constantly yelling at all of the sales-girls and wouldn't let Giovanna finish her sale with me because he apparently needed her elsewhere).
She really listened to what I liked and didn't... if there was one little thing that I didn't like, she took note of it and made sure I left there with the gown of my dreams. She also made sure to shoot down any family member who suggested I try on a gown that had something i didn't like, which was pretty funny! She really made the experience a lot of fun, although I wouldn't recommend going there on a weekend - it was quite chaotic (I was traveling from Brooklyn, so weekends are the only times I could go gown shopping).
One of the main reasons why I came here was because all of the alterations are included in the price of the gown, which is always a good thing! I'll have to add to this once I go through my fittings.

I am a Town Shop bride and am SO HAPPY! I just bought my gown this weekend and I have to write to recommend the Town Shop to everyone -- this place is a must. I had not expected to find "the dress", but Debbie, the woman I worked with, was so incredibly helpful she found exactly what I was looking for. She was patient, she listened, she knew what dresses they had (and they have quite a lot -- more than 300 in stock), and the entire experience was wonderful. The seamstress, Rosie, was equally wonderful. She took my measurements and explained exactly what should could to make my dress custom. Everyone was so lovely, my mother, sister and I had the best time. If you want to be treated like a princess, and work with people who listen and care, you must go to the Town Shop!!!

I hate to write a review with little to no positives, but unfortunately, I cannot find many things I liked about my experience here. The summary of my experience was that I was on a time crunch, the customer service was NOT acceptable and I do not feel that they deserve a good review. I do not need to be treated like a princess, in fact, I want anything BUT that whole "bride experience" - BUT I do deserve to be treated with respect and without judgement. I did not receive that.
When I arrived on weekday evening I told the 1st saleslady I would like to see the bridal gowns and she told me I needed to make a reservation and it would be $25, which would go toward the price of my gown. I asked if it was returned to me if I didn't buy one and she didn't answer me. She informed me "we are a big shop". umm..what? I then asked if we could just see gowns now she said we needed to make an appointment . When she heard the wedding date she rudely raised her eyebrows and called over sales lady #2. Grace heped me find a few dresses, one I liked. When I hesitated in the dressing room, she gve me a guilt trip about why I needed to do this for my mother, what it meant to her, etc. I didn't need that. We came back a few days later - no dressing rooms available even an appointment. We waited 20 min. I tried the dress on again and still wasn't sure. Plus, the dress smelled. Stinky body odor smell. I asked if they would clean it - they would - at my expense. The saleswoman continued to judge me and make comments like "you might as well go to david's bridal" and "you need to decide". I reminded her that I did not need to decide right then and I could stay in the dress as long as I wanted. She didn't like that. After that, she was hands off and less helpful. A pleasant change to the smothering sales person she was previously. I could keep on going with the horrible customer serv.- but I think you get the point. No cleaning a SMELLY dress? That's just gross.

I went to Town Shop while in NY visiting family. They fit me in last minute and then gave me a great service. I wasn't exactly sure what style I wanted, so they helped me pick all different styles to try on. Once I narrowed it down they were so professional, careful, and attentive in helping me find the one. Due to my short engagement, I was pushing it by choosing a dress so late. Town Shop told me I would probably get the dress (in North Carolina) by mid-December, but I got it early (weeks early)!! Tried it on again and they were so careful about picking a size for me that I don't have to do any major alterations. I could not be happier! Town Shop did a wonderful job!

I read mixed reviews about Town Shop and I was leary to go with them. I'm very glad I did! I went into NYC and all over 3 counties looking for my dress. I made an appointment with them even though they are an hour from my house. I showed up and told them the style I wanted the consultant told me a dress ID # (they don't go by names) and sure enough she was right-that was my dress! I tried on 5 dresses there and went with the 2nd one. It was a bargain as the price includes alterations except the bustle which was only $100. I had great service the whole time I worked with them. Very happy!

I have NO idea what store the negative comments went to, but they certainly could not have been talking about this place! I had such a horrible experience EVERYWHERE else I looked- and then when I made a last minute (which they accommodated) appointment here, they let me stay for 2 HOURS trying on any and all dresses I wanted. They knew my name when I returned for fittings and always, always, always made me feel special. The prices are cheaper than any flagship, and that includes alterations. The people are the nicest people I have dealt with, especially the owner, who knows his clients by name. Ask for Debbie- she is THE BEST! When I chose my Pronovias gown, which was $500 less than the flagship...I was handed a goodie bag with a bottle of wine. Talk about class. This is the place to go for a wedding gown, wedding party attire and mother of bride dress without a question.

I just purchased my gown from the Town Shop this past weekend and had a wonderful experience. I came into the store with my mother and my sister and after having gone to too many other bridal stores, I was so pleasantly surprised with my experience at the Town Shop. Everyone was extremely helpful and kind, and their selection was excellent. I highly recommend the Town Shop for the selection and professionalism, not to mention their prices. I worked with a woman who listened to what I wanted and knew what she had to offer -- Ifound the perfect dress and had the best experience!

I had excellant service at Town Shop. I know there have been a lot of brides who complain about their service but I have no complaints. I first tried on dresses with Maria and I valued her honest opinion. She helped me pick out several dresses and even showed me a few I hadn't picked out. I bought my dress almost a year before the wedding and there was a small issue with the sizing. The owner of the store spoke to the dress maker and worked out the problem without any added stress on my end.

For the rest of the process I worked mostly with Grace, Maureen and the seamstress Rosie. All of them are funny, honest and very social. I liked knowing that when I stepped into the shop I would leave in a good mood. Rosie is an amazing seamstress and altered my dress perfectly! She even talked me into taking a layer of fabric out of my dress which really helped! She knows what she is talking about, listen to her :)

I will definitely recommend Town Shop to other brides I meet. I would also like to add that I'm a plus size bride and they were very open to working with me. I have heard many complaints that they do not like working with plus size brides. This was not my case. They were honest about what dresses/styles would work for me and which ones would not. I appreciated the honesty and advice.

I had not been to Town Shop before, but after seeing it was "The Best of 2012" according to The Knot, I figured I should give it a shot. I gave them the benefit of a doubt when I stood around for 30 minutes waiting for help because it was prom season so my MOH and I searched on our own. We also took it upon ourselves to grab a TINY fitting room with weird doors and decided on a beautiful dress for my bridesmaids. We finally got help from a really sweet, young girl who asked us the style number and color. She took all our information down and my sister ordered her dress on the spot (this was late March). We were told the dresses would take about 4 months given it was prom season. As I was showing all my bridesmaids the beautiful dress on the designer's website, I noticed the color we gave the girl at the shop was not available. We had to call the shop to double check, and they said "oh yeah, we don't have the color, you'll have to come in and choose another." When I returned, they referred to me as "that girl who chose the wrong color." I waited the 4 months and received no phone call. The woman I spoke to needed ALL of my information (which is kept on file--hello!) and kept me on hold for several minutes before telling me she didn't even see the dresses in the system and would have to have Gary call the vendor to get the whereabouts. 5 days passed, and I got no call. When I called again after 5 days, she told me Gary wasn't in and would have to call me later. I STILL got no call "Later," so my MOH called to see what was going on. She asked to speak to Gary directly, who told her the dresses WERE in and my sister asked why we hadn't been contacted, to which he replied, "I have no idea!" They're sarcastic, idiotic (what kind of dress shop that has been around for so long doesn't know their products or common courtesy?!) and RUDE. It makes me sad and sick that people who are taking your money can be so careless and unknowledgeable.

I don't know where to start with this disappointing store. My wedding was this past weekend and I had nothing but horrific customer service from start to finish. Although I live an hour away, the only reason for choosing to order my bridesmaids dresses from here was because my cousins who were in the wedding live close by. When the dresses came in and we picked them up, ALL 5 dresses were more than 3x too big on each girl. When I visited the store with 3 of the girls, the sample dress which was a size 10 was too big on 2 of them, and fit perfectly on 1. Pam, the girl who was helping us, took measurements of all 3 girls with their clothes on, which I found extremely odd. I'm not too sure how she was expecting to receive accurate sizes by doing so. The bridesmaid who fit perfectly into the sample dress (size 10) asked Pam to please order her dress in a 10 due to the sample dress fitting her just right. Pam replied "not a problem, I will mark down a size 10 for you". When the dresses arrived for these 3 bridesmaids, the one who was supposed to receive a size 10, was ordered a size 16, and the other 2 bridesmaids received dresses that were 3 times the size too big for them. Not to mention, this store charges for alterations accordingly, therefore, they thought they were going to make their money off of the necessary alterations. One of my bridesmaids happened to back out of the wedding, so I called up to see what my options were about the dress. The girl on the phone told me its not a problem, I could use the amount of the dress as store credit and use it towards anything in the store. About 10 minutes after hanging up the phone with her, she called me back to tell me that she gave me false information and that basically I lost the money and I am stuck with the dress. Even if that is their policy, which I completely understand, it is BAD business to tell a customer one thing and take it back to do another. Bad, bad business. SEE MORE ON GOOGLE REVIEWS!!!!

How can I say that the customer service I have received from The Town Shop (www.townshopbridal.com) in Poughkeepsie is THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED? Let me describe what happened. My son is getting married 9/8. In mid-July, the gowns for two of the bridesmaids were stolen from them while they were traveling back home (long story). Needless to say, my son's fiancee and her bridesmaids were devastated and didn't know where to turn. They needed a guaranteed super rush order delivery. They called numerous salons in NYC (including the one they bought the gowns from in the first place), but not one would help them. I live nearby the Town Shop and called them for help. I was impressed by the fact that the store manager, Gary, called me back immediately and reassured me that they could not only get the gowns, but have them shipped to his store by 8/31. It was such a relief! I ordered them immediately. Gary personally checked in with the manufacturer and tracked them until they arrived at the store on 8/30, one day early! I must add, that whenever I called the store, the entire staff was always courteous, professional and understanding. I have never experienced this type of personal customer service before. I felt like I was part of a team and we were working together.
Why would you consider going anywhere else to purchase your formal attire, when you have the Town Shop in Poughkeepsie? You absolutely know that the Town Shop has excellent, long-standing relationships with the manufacturers of the dresses, when they can place a super rush order with the utmost confidence. And you want the store you entrust your wedding to, to have those excellent relationships so that you receive the order "first time right" and with time to spare. This amazing experience at the Town Shop has made me a customer for life. My sincere thanks to Gary and his team for stepping forward to help us and for making my future daughter-in-law's dreams come true.
