Wedding Cake

I used this baker for my wedding in December of 2009. In fact one of the other reviews was a guest at my weddiing. Like the other bride I went with this baker because of the promises she made. She was give a picture of my wedding gown and was asked to make the cake reflect my gown and that of my bridesmaids who wore blue. My dress was champagne with a brown ribbon around the waste. I asked her to make the cake in champagne and do blue ribbon to match the girls dresses around the bottom of each tier. She told me because it was a davids bridal color she could get the ribbon no problem. My mom was paying for the cake and wanted to pay a small bakery more than a bigger one to help them get the money they would need to become bigger. She e mailed me A MONTH before my wedding and told me she needed me to get the ribbon for her. She wanted 8 yards of ribbon for a small 3 tiered cake! We asked her for at least a drawing of what she was doing for our cake and she never responded. We wanted to drop her and get another baker but there were so many fees in her contract for breaking it that it would have cost more money then we were comfortable asking my mom to pay for. She also only showed us cakes she made for her friends.

When I got to my wedding the day of my cake was already there. She was told to drop it off 30 minutes before the ceremony because we knew one of us would be there to make sure it was up to our standards. I got there 2 hours before my ceremony and it was there and looked like my 2 year old daughter had made it in my kitchen. My photographer had been there when it was dropped off and said she wanted to cry for me and the baker made her very nervous. She had never ever seen a baker drop a cake on top of the other tiers from as high as this lady did. The supports were showing in the cake. Cake was showiing from beneath the frosting and it had not been smoothed out. The ribbon we bought for her was put on very slopy like she could have cared less because she got her money. We also did not get the remainder of the ribbon back and she had made us buy her 2 rolls of it and with a friend who is a baker we can guarantee unless she seriously screwed up she didnt even use one whole roll. My photographer was kind enough to wash out my cake in my pictures so that I wouldnt cry every time I looked at my pictures.

I really should have just gone with a bigger baker and paid a little more money and known that my cake would have been something I would have been proud to look at. Why couldnt Ace of Cakes or Cake Boss be set in Colorado?

Wedding Cake

To the owner of this company:
I attended a wedding yesterday the 10th of December. The first thing I saw when I entered the venue was your abomination of a cake. I cannot BELIEVE you would deliver a cake that looks entirely unfinished. And before anyone was even there at the venue to correct your mistake. And for the PRICE? ridiculous. I make wedding cakes, and I would never dream of giving someone a cake where the frosting looked like a 3 year old had done it. There were parts of the bottom tier where the cake was showing through the frosting. The frosting wasn't even close to smoothed out, and as for asking the couple for EIGHT yards of ribbon that THEY needed to provide? What is wrong with you? Do you utter lack any notion of business sense? You should not be charging people for your easy-bake oven cakes. They are awful and I, as well as the bride and groom and the brides parents, will tell everyone we know that they should never use you for a wedding cake. Ever.
People that don't even make cakes could have done a better job. Why don't you go to culinary school and learn how to properly make things that people should pay you $450 for before you make any more laughable attempts at wedding cakes.
If it weren't for the fact that I HAD to rate you something in the stars above in order to post this, I wouldn't have.

-an incredibly unsatisfied friend of a customer-

Wedding Cake

I know that this company is no longer in business, and honestly, I find that to be very satisfying.

Had I known about this website, I wouldn've written this review a very long time ago in hopes of sparing stressed out Brides from even more stress and anxiety on their wedding day.

My wedding was May 8, 2009. After MUCH searching around, and trying to decide between two different bakeries, we chose Top Tier. She offered to price match the other bakery and told us she would completely customize it for us, which the other bakery couldn't do completely. I provided her with the ribbon and pearls to decorate the cake to my "dream" vision. I saw ONE picture of a cake she had done for a friend's wedding and it was very pretty.

I walked into the venue on the day of my wedding day and I literally cried when I saw my wedding cake. My "dream" cake: white, polished, finished and classy, was no where in sight. All I could see was the lumpy, bumpy CREAM colored wreck that looked like it had fallen off the back of a truck. My pearls had been smushed into the side of the cake, the ribbon was curled and tucked funny, the silver scrollwork which I had longed for was thick and tinted BLUE, and the tiers were falling into each other. My husband later told me that it was a good thing we were eating the cake, so no one would have to stare at it later. My wedding colors of Black, White, Silver and Light Pink were not represented in the Cream, Black and Blue mess that was supposed to be symbolic of us sharing everything with one another.

While the caked tasted fantastic, I'm sure the other bakery would've been just as delicious, and I had actually SEEN pictures of their cakes. Knowing what I know now, I'd have gladly given up a little of my customization for a beautiful cake.

I just hope Top Tier never tries to make a come back. I should have known from the lack of photos, limited time in operation, and the fact that she told me she used a Comissary Kitchen and worked out of her home instead of owning a store, that it was fishy and a bad idea.

Good luck to the Brides out there. May your day be beautiful!
