My cake looked amazing!!! I had my mom go out and pick out our cake because I had zero time and so I was a little hesitant to see what the final piece would look like. A day before the wedding we dropped off real flowers for her to put on the cake and on the day of I was blown away with the attention to detail, time she put into it and delicious flavors! We had three tiers: chocolate-orange, butter almond and spice cake. Everyone LOVED the cake. I would highly recommend the cakery!

We went with The Cakery for our daughter's wedding cake. We were impressed by the previous reviews and met with Susan at her home. She showed us all of her photos and we were excited to see her work. It took a couple of tastings and she got the flavor selection to our daughter and her fiance's satisfaction.
Then, on the wedding day, she delivered the cake, barely, within minutes of the ceremony, it was supposed to be black and white with a damask design. Well, it looked like a smudged dark blue hue with a film around the cake for the design, it had to be peeled off. She said we should have been able to cut through the wrap and blamed our knife. Blamed the rainy weather on the blue hue and the cake was leaning, yet she claims, she didn't notice that when, she dropped it off. The end result was disappointment and frustration, as, our daughter's wedding cake was not up to the quality that we felt Susan could deliver. The one saving grace, was that, it did taste very good.

Susan was very flexible in working out the flavors for our cake and upon our initial meeting I was very enthusiaist about her abilities. However, on our wedding day the cake arrived 5 minutes before the start of our ceremony. Worse than that, the cake was leaning and the design was nothing close to what we ordered. Sadly I would not recommend her services.

The Cakery created a beautiful and delicious wedding cake for our wedding day. She was able to make last minute changes to our cake design without a problem. The cake itself was delicious. My grandfather even said it was the best wedding cake he had ever tasted and he's been to a lot of weddings. The Cakery works with Madigan's Waterfront therefore, the cake it included in the cost of your reception. The owner of Madigan's arranged cake tastings for you which made it even easier!

Susan at The Cakery provided the cake for our recent wedding. I love cake so the perfect wedding cake was very important to me. Before we chose The Cakery, my mother, my husband and myself met with Susan for a tasting. I had to e-mail Susan ahead of time and let her know which flavors we were interested in trying. I think I selected 6 flavors and at the tasting we each got a plate with a huge piece of each flavor. Susan also provided us with several bowls of fillings so we could mix and match the fillings with different cake flavors and see what we liked. Everything was so tasty (and her prices were so reasonable) that we decided to hire Susan on the spot. We had a 4-layer cake and each layer was a different flavor. I had originally told Susan we wanted a round cake but then I later changed my mind and we went with a square. We also changed the flavor of one of the layers a few weeks after we put in the initial order and Susan had no problem making the changes. I had a very specific picture in my mind of what I wanted the cake to look like and it made me nervous that I wouldn't be able to see the finished product until the day of the wedding but when I arrived at the wedding venue the cake was there and it looked perfect! Unfortunately, I was only able to taste one of the layers of the cake but it was amazing and all the other guests raved about the cake as well.

My only concern about The Cakery is that Susan's level of responsiveness was not exactly as high as I would have liked it to be. There were several times where I sent e-mails and got no response and had to follow up with phone calls. This would have been a bigger problem for me had everything not turned out so perfect in the end. I definitely wouldn't let this be a deterrent from choosing The Cakery for your wedding but it is something to keep in mind when working with Susan.

Susan was so easy to work with. She was able to design exactly what we wanted with a fanciful blend of elegance. We had 4 layers with each tier made up of one chocolate and one white layer. The chocolate mousse filling was delicious. The frosting was white on white buttercream (even though others had recommended against buttercream in July) and the florist added flowers. It was as gorgeous as it was scrumptious.

Best and most beautiful wedding cakery ever. So delicious I wish I got more than one bite!

I should start of by saying for the style and size of our cake, Sue's prices are great. And if you are not particular or obsessive about how it looks she is a good choice. In our case I'm not a picky bride so I was ok with my cake. But I realized that the sugar flowers on were not the right colors and for that matter you could bearly tell that the sugar flowers were colored. They really looked white which worked out well for our color scheme. I have been told that the cake taste great. But I'm not a big fan of cake and I did not think it taste that great. But several guest stated that the cake was great.

We enjoyed working with Susan, the owner of The Cakery. Having her do the cake was included in our wedding reception package at the Quantico Officer's Club, so we never looked at anyone else. Because it was included, I do not know what her prices are like. Our cake turned out pretty nice and pretty close to what I had showed her that I wanted. The only thing I noticed (when looking back through our wedding pictures) is that the fondant detailing around the base of the cake layers was not blended very well and you could see "veins" of the colors that she mixed to get the green color. Not a big deal though. I would say though that if you want a cake that looks like it came from Charm City Cakes (Ace of Cakes show) or from the bakery on Cake Boss, this is not the place to go. Her work is good, but not on the same level as those bakeries. She had a lot of cake and filling flavors to offer and she will even make a family recipe flavor if you give her the recipe. The one thing that I did not like about her business though it is run from her home--which is fine if you have your house set up the right way to do so. It was a little weird because her house didn't seem that neat and she had cats, which didn't bother me all too much because I grew up with cats, but you don't want to think about cats walking on the counter where your cake is being made. Just something that I thought was a little weird.

The cake turned out great. It was exactly as we requested and was nice and moist and delicious. When you visit her house it is not exactly presentable, but do not let that mislead you the cakes are great. There was some confusion a few days before the wedding on the agreement between who would place the flowers on the cake. When we originally meet with her months before the wedding she said she would put the flowers on the cake if they arrived at the site before she delivers the cake. When she called me a few days before the wedding she asked that I deliver the flowers to her the day before the wedding, but in the end she agreed to put the flowers on the cake. Otherwise, delivery was on time, design exactly as specified, presentation was okay (no elaborate cake plate), cake quality perfect.

Susan, the owner is wonderful. She is very warm and inviting. She runs The Cakery out of her home. I was amazed with the flavors of cake she offers. I had brought her a picture I found online, our wedding cake looked just like the picture. She makes the best tasting cakes I have every had. I would recommend her to everyone. She is also very affordable. After tasting her cakes you won't want any others. Thanks again!

Susan at the Cakery was fantastic. Not only did she put on a great spread for us to make the decisions, but she had a million choices for us. The cake was gorgeous, and from what I hear, it was delicious too!

We absolutely LOVED our wedding cake!!! It looked great and tasted even better!!! She was sooo helpful all along during the planning stages and I had absolutely no worries that the cake would be beautiful, delivered on time, and very yummy!!! She is a busy lady with many cakes to make and she does an absolutely great job at it! Two Thumbs Up!!

The Cakery was great to work with. She runs it out of her home but is well-known throughout the community (She does cakes for the White House!) I showed her some pictures of what I wanted but ended up changing it a month prior to the wedding, no problem for her. The cake turned out great and tasted DELICIOUS. I highly recommend using her if you live in the area.

We loved the way our cake came out! Susan can do any design you want and she coordinated well with the florist who added the finishing touches!
