The food was great, and I got lots of compliments on it. The waiters were amazing and were really good at making sure I always had something to eat and drink. Jay Day was great to work with, very funny and helpful and was very knowledgeable about how to arrange to have a great reception, and also caught mistakes that other vendors made.

Jay at Brass Elephant is superb. He is professional, courteous, flexible and a pleasure to work with. He always answered my questions, gave me good advice, and responded to all of my requests. Out of all the caterers I reviewed for a quote to do a Spanish Tapas dinner, he was the only one to get straight back to me with a mouth-watering menu that was exactly what I asked for. The food was delicious and the service on the day was outstanding - the servers were just amazing.

I would not recommend The Brass Elephant. Since we had an afternoon wedding, our venue required us to use the same caterer as the evening wedding. At first, we were very excited to have the Brass Elephant since it is a well-known upscale restaurant in town that we would be able to book at a discounted price and otherwise would not have been able to afford something as fancy. After that, it was one head ache after another. The rep is difficult to get a hold of, he doesn't seem to have his own line so you are just calling the restaurant all the time and having to ask for him, which he never seems to be there, you can't leave a voicemail, and it sometimes takes days for him to respond to an email. We were squabbling over the bill up until the week before our wedding and constantly felt as if he was trying to "pull one over" on us by agreeing to prices verbally and then showing different numbers on the invoice. We would ask direct questions about pricing, alerting him to our skinny budget and trying to figure out different options, and he would give vague responses that did not answer the question. I hired a planner at the last minute to help handle things and she expressed great frustration and was also perplexed at some of the charges on the invoice. Picking out linens was a disaster where he told me that my color scheme would clash and look gross - even if that were the case, its not something you say to a bride in regards to her vision for her wedding! I kept trying to tell myself that it would all be worth it in the end because the food would be great, we had gone for a tasting and really enjoyed everything that was prepared. But on the day of, our food was cold, the breading on the chicken was soggy, my husband said the salmon tasted like it was from a can, and the meat was generally dry. Everyone ate it, it wasn't inedible, but everytime we asked if they liked the food, it was negative.
Their waitstaff was wonderful, I'll give them that. Very professional and attentive.

We decided to have the Brass Elephant cater our wedding reception because their catering manager impressed us so much. Unfortunately he was on vacation for the wedding and his assistant was in charge. We chose a buffet style dinner. However, a couple of crucial food items we'd requested, namely bread and rice, were absent. One of the appetizers we'd requested be switched out several weeks before was ignored. We actually discovered some of these discrepencies a day or 2 before the wedding, but we were told by the assistant in charge that it was too late to do anything about it. Then when we saw the wedding cake, we were disappointed at how pathetic it looked. It tasted good, but it was nothing like the picture the catering manager showed us it would look like, neither in shape nor in color. The worst part, though, was that numerous guests complained they didn't get enough to eat. A couple of people apparently socialized a little too long and missed out on dinner completely. We heard complaints that the servers were often not at their stations and they ran out of food too quickly and had no replenishments. Many of the wedding party and family got no appetizers, and guests complained that they felt they had to hurry up to get anything to eat. Most people weren't even able to get seconds. I don't believe they had enough food to adequately feed all the guests that were invited. To top it all off, after we brought this to the catering manager's attention a couple of weeks later, he forwarded our complaint on to the owners. Nearly 2 months have passed, and despite several attempts by us to get a response, we've heard nothing from them. We realize now that we probably never will. To be fair, the food was pretty good, and the decor and bar were done very well. But after spending upwards of $10,000 on the catering, one would expect it ALL to be done very well. We expected a lot better service and professionalism. After our experience, I wouldn't recommend the Brass Elephant to anyone for their wedding. It definitely wasn't worth that kind of money to us.
