Sally at Scarritt Bennett was great! She was very helpful and quick to respond as I was looking into places for my ceremony. Even after signing the contract she was in touch to let me know deadlines and worked with me on the day and time for my bridal shoot. The chapel is gorgeous and with it being Christmas time there were two trees up front so we didn't even need any other decor. The organ sounded great and Sally gave me information for a great organist. Everything went smoothly and pictures turned our great! That grounds are beautiful and lend to many unique shots. I would highly recommend using Wightman Chapel!

The chapel is georgous and doesn't need many added flowers/decorations. Pipe organ sounds wonderful! Downsides, we were not allowed in the chapel until 2 hours prior to ceremony time so we had to set up flowers, pictures, organ, etc. in a very short time period and you must purchase their food/drinks which are very expensive. Overall, it made for a BEAUTIFUL ceremony!

Very expensive, but worth every penny. One of the most gorgeous places to get married in Nashville.

We were married in Wightman Chapel on a Friday night and it was absolutley beautiful. The Chapel doesn't need many decorations because the architecture on the inside and outside is stunning. The timeframe for setup and cleanup is very short... so your vendors have to work fast and be efficient... but it is possible. Overall I had a great experience at Scarritt-Bennett and recommend this location to other couples.

Pretty place for a ceremony, which I'm sure is the only reason people want to have their wedding here. Architecture is nice, but grounds are poorly kept. The chapel is musty and the lighting is rough for photographers. Something you won't notice right away, is that the front of the chapel has one very dim light and no windows. It is very dark. There is no electrical outlet to plug in a lamp. They suggest you keep the doors open. Not a good idea unless you don't mind the wind blowing everything around. If it rains, you will have to walk around the sidewalk in the rain to the front of the chapel for the processional. They will not allow you to adhere an aisle runner to the floor. We went with a felt runner at their recommendation and it slid all over the place. You will have to be in and out in a 4 hour time frame (decorations and photographers & guests included) Keep this in mind if you want to do any of the decorating yourself, in this case, it cannot be done. The real downer to this place is the staff. They are rude, & very rigid. Reception was rushed and not private. Setup time to decorate is at same time as the chapel. Food is overpriced and average. My tea order was wrong and had lots left over. At $25/gallon it added up. When I brought this up to SB, they blew me off, and then I got an accidental and insulting email from a staff member to the Pres. of the company. Ms. Howell, the Pres., never addressed that email, and the employee told me that I had to take up the issue w/their contracted company myself. Even though my contract was with SB, they absolved themselves. The contract you sign means nothing to protect you, only SB. Also, privacy is not to be expected. Someone walked right thru the front of the chapel while the processional was playing, even when signs were posted on all doors that a wedding was in process. There were uninvited people hanging out and blatantly disturbing our guests at the reception as well. Keep an eye on your belongings and gifts.

Scarritt Bennett was BEAUTIFUL, but not everyone was friendly or personable. They do have a lot of weddings there, so that may have something to do with it, but they are very strict. Our wedding was an afternoon one and we felt very rushed. IT was not that the overall experience was bad, but I think it could have been better.

My wedding was held in Wightman Chapel and it provided a beautiful place for the ceremony. Using only natural light coming through the windows. As far as flexibility there, they have many weddings and can't allow you unlimited time to do what you need to do. Time for pictures, rehearsals, etc. is extremely limited and I wish we had more time for this kind of stuff.

It is a beautiful church! The great thing is that since it is so beautiful you don't have to do a lot to decorate it. It is a very popular church for weddings, so you must book pretty far in advance. The only complaints I have is the rehersal time for a Sat. wedding at 6:00 is 3:30 on Friday, which to me is pretty early, you have to be out of the church by 7:00 following the ceremony or they will charge you, which makes it hard to take pictures, and no food or drinks are allowed unless they are provided by Scarritt. Other than those minor things I had a beautiful ceremony.

Scarritt Bennett is a gorgeous, non-denominational chapel near Vanderbilt campus. It was truly the dream setting for our wedding ceremony. If you are interested, book early-- they have four weddings a weekend and dates book years in advance. They also only give you four hours onsite an are very strict about their regulations, but in all fairness, they must be strict to stay on schedule and be fair to everyone.

One other note-- you need to consider the time of day of your ceremony and the time of year. The sunlight is absolutely blinding through the back window, so much so that my groom could not see me walk down the aisle. I think that evening winter weddings, when it is dark, or possibly afternoon ceremonies are probably the best. (Ours was at 6:00 in August).
