Rocklands was easy to work with when setting up my event. The food was great. All my guests raved about how it was the best wedding food ever. The server they provided was very friendly and attentive, going beyond what was required of him.

Fabulous customer service, flexibility, and efficiency. Party planning staff was terrific! Staff on site were super helpful and very courteous. I would definitely do another party with Rocklands!

Rocklands exceeded our expectations hands down! We had a tough crowd to please from the very beginning . From the moment we first spoke to Anne at Rocklands to the end of our event it was a pleasure to do business with them. We plan to use them again in the future. The menu was straight forward a whole roasted pig with sides and a full bar. We did more of a stand up reception with a few tables. It was for about 80 people. The pig was perfect! we had added pulled chicken and brisket, which I recommend highly. One of the great things is that we wanted to add some of personal sides that our families recipes and make them ourselves, not a problem or an additional charge. Same with the bar, we wanted to make a Bourbon punch and add our own Champagne to the bar, not a problem or an additional corking fee. The staff was professional, very helpful and courteous to our guests. They brought great table decorations to make it more festive. The price for the event was right on target and very reasonable. I wouldn't say that we were high maintence or demanding, we just knew what we wanted and they knew how to deliver. Great experience all around.

The food was terrific and our guest all commented of how much they enjoyed it. We heard things like,"that was the best potato salad I have ever had" and "the corn salad was so good". It pleases us very much to know our guest enjoyed themselves. Your hard work and professionalism were appreciated.

We had to work within a tight budget and you allowed us the freedom to adjust where we could to manage that.

Rocklands did an amazing job with our wedding. We worked with Carmen throughout the wedding planning process, and she was so wonderful to work with! She was so helpful: she responded to emails quickly and offered great advice. Rocklands was great on our wedding day. A huge storm hit DC the day before our wedding so our wedding site had no power. We had to move the reception to my husband’s parents’ house the day of the wedding. Rocklands had no problem with the change of location at the very last minute, and were incredibly flexible. The quality of the food was great- everything was cooked on site and the BBQ was hot, fresh, and our guests loved it! Among the highlights were freshly shucked raw oysters (this is not on their standard catering menu, but Carmen went out of her way to bring in an outside contractor for this), grilled shrimp appetizers, pulled pork, grilled salmon, macaroni and cheese, cornbread muffins, etc., etc. (I could keep on going on – everything was really delicious). We also asked Rocklands to create a specialty cocktail for us, and they were more than happy to (even though the cocktail recipe was pretty involved!). We asked them to carve out watermelons and put a watermelon mojito inside and insert a keg spout in the watermelon, and it looked and tasted awesome! They had no problem going out of their way to meet our special requests! We also rented all of our furniture from their partner and it worked out great (Carmen was very helpful with recommendations about what furniture (sizes, number, etc) would be best). Rocklands set up everything just as we asked, and they were flexible with the last minute change of plans and were able to help create a great layout in just a few hours. I highly recommend Rocklands for anyone who wants delicious BBQ food at their wedding. Carmen and everyone at Rocklands were highly professional and a pleasure to work with!

Wayland and Anne were incredibly responsive and helpful. They had excellent suggestions and helped make the planning process easy.

The servers working at the reception were professional and incredibly friendly. They even had appetizers and drinks ready for my new husband and I during pictures and had made a plate for us to ensure we had a chance to eat at the reception. They set up the reception area perfectly (tables, table runners, centerpieces, etc), clean up was flawless and I was told the bartender did a great job with the pours.

The whole BBQ hog was a huge hit with all the guests and everyone kept raving how good the food was. I know a few people went back for seconds and even thirds! Unlike with most caterers, the leftover food was actually sent home with us.

I'd definitely recommend Rocklands.

Rocklands was great to work with. We were so impressed with the service from the tasting through to the event clean up. We worked with Carmen and Wayland who were both extremely helpful and friendly. Wayland had great advice on how to set things up. The food was wonderful - perfect for a summer garden wedding. Our guests raved about everything, but the corn salad was a definite favorite. We also opted for the sundae bar, which was so much fun - a month later people are still talking about it!

I wish I could give them way more than 5 stars!! Rockland's was an AMAZING caterer for our wedding! We had our wedding at a manor house in northern VA. I was worried that BBQ may not fit with the venue (outdoors, old house, very nice) but Rockland's was nothing but perfect! Everything from setting up our tables to serving my husband and I all night were perfect touches. I mentioned to my husband while we were taking pictures of just the two of us during our cocktail hour that I couldn't wait to eat something. Not even five minutes later, a server came over to us with our cocktail hour apps and some mac & cheese - my favorite! She even kept following us around with water all night making sure we stayed hydrated on a 90+ degree day. They made sure we had food and drinks all night and everyone raved about dinner!! I heard from my guests that they've never had a better meal at a wedding with a more professional (and really fun) staff!

Overall, I was SO pleased and would completely recommend Rockland's to anyone getting married. They really do a fantastic job!!

We used Rocklands Catering for our engagement party. They were first class all the way, from the tasting to the setup to the breakdown. When I normally think of Rocklands I think of BBQ, but their catering is SO MUCH MORE. They are a first class caterer, with outstanding service, friendly employees, and I would highly recommend them. Rocklands was a great vendor to work with. They were very responsive and catered to every request that we had. I was always able to talk to someone regarding our wedding reception. Wyland came out to our Reception hall for a site visit and we were able to plan the floor plan that day. The day of the event they were on time, and finished setting up what we were unable to do. The spread was amazing, they did a great job. Everyone loved the food and said it was the best they had had in a long time. We would recommend Rocklands to anyone.

Rocklands was a great caterer! The food was delicious and the Rocklands team was a pleasure to work with. Unlike other barbecue joints, Rocklands really does offer full service catering and has tasty options for vegetarians. They made everything really easy. Before the wedding, they made a lot of helpful suggestions about the staff, equipment, etc. we would need. They also made the many changes to the menu that we requested promptly and graciously. On the day of my wedding, they showed up on time and took care of absolutely everything--set up, food and drink prep, service, clean up--without any supervision by us. It was totally seamless. The food was great and everyone loved it. On top of all that, their on-site staff were genuinely nice and kind to me and my husband, my family, and my guests. Highly recommended!

Rocklands is amazing as a full service caterer. Our tasting was great and Rocklands agreed to make some recipes at our request that weren't even on the menu. They brought the tables, the chairs, the linens, the food, and the servers. They even sent someone out to the venue on the day before to help plan our layout and flow....then the worst thing in the world happened...a hurrican hit! My venue had to close and we had to change everything at the very last second, but that didn't stop Rocklands. They changed everything at the last minute and SAVED MY WEDDING. I'm so so grateful for everything they did for me. It would have been a disaster without them. In addition to the beautiful linens and friendly service, the food was amazing. People STILL comment about the food they ate last August. Job well done.

Rocklands delivered a perfect wedding experience on the day of Hurricane Irene. The Governor of Virginia declared a state of emergency, and we were forced to change the start time of our wedding with only a few hours notice. However, nothing could deter the intrepid Rockland caterers from delivering an outstanding food and setup despite the hurricane. Everyone we worked with was exceptional. Rocklands was the best vendor I hired for my wedding (and rehearsal dinner) and I will be highly recommending them to all my friends for their wedding or any other events. Of course, the food was delcious, fresh, made with authentic ingredients and grilled onsite. This is not bland, boring wedding food! My fiance and I had a few unusual requests and the folks at Rocklands made it all happen without a glitch - we wanted fresh steamed clams (no problem), an ice cream sundae bar at the rehearsal (sure), raw oysters shucked during the cocktail hour (of course!), a whole roasted pig with dinner (absolutely!). The dinner was delicious and beautiful. Even better than the food, was the logistical expertise. The staff was very experienced planning out the logistics of delivery, the movement of people flow during the event, cleaning up afterwards, and there was one staff person assigned to me and my husband to make sure we got to eat. The day-of staff was very polite and professional and many of my guests told me how impressed they were.

Rocklands also worked with us to make sure we got the best value for our money. They let us purchase our own alcohol and dessert for the event and their staff did all the serving. This saved us tons of $$!

Anne was very responsive and a real jewel to work with. In the days leading up to the event she emailed with me, tirelessly, to make sure we had everything planned to a T. She was a key partner to the success of the day.

While, as the mother of the groom and hosting the wedding at our house (in backyard in mid-August), Rocklands was not my first-choice as caterer, I was easily persuaded by the bride and groom and am extremely glad that we used Rocklands. The service and food they provided was excellent in every way: quality, quantity, value, etc.
Rocklands personnel were very professional from the beginning as we planned togather (bride and groom in opposite parts of the country), and for tasting in advance. The day of the wedding was perfect in every way, in no small part because of Rocklands.
I am happy to be a reference for anyone considering consulting with Rocklands.

We had Rocklands cater our rehearsal dinner and it was the best decision we could have made! We knew that Rocklands has delicious BBQ, but we were absolutely blown away by the classy presentation and the professional staff of Rocklands catering. We appreciated all the time that Carmen and Wayland took to adjust the menu to our liking and figure out the logistics of linens, tables, and set up. On the day of the event, water glasses were kept full, the buffet was always replenished, and the space was set up and taken down without a hitch. Our guests raved about the food and the quality of the friendly waitstaff. One of the servers even brought a plate of cornbread directly to a guest at her table when she asked if there was anymore left.
The bar was also set up beautifully, and we were able to bring our own beer and wine which saved quite a bit of money and allowed us to serve our favorite wines. Carmen also worked with us to tweak the menu after the tasting we had a few months before the wedding. We can't say enough about Rocklands and how fabulous they were to work with.
