PJ Events responded with the following comments:
Dear Denise & Martin,
We are writing to apologize for your dis-satisfaction in our company and services. We have been in the business for many years and are devastated at the thought that your event did not go as planned. We take this seriously and would like to address & resolve the issues you stated in your review.
(4) Individuals On your event: I met with Johnny in regards to this because until I read your review, I was unaware there were so many additional people. Had I known this fact, I would have let you know in advance this would be taking place. (For instance, when Carlos was unable to do your event originally due to date change I wanted you to meet Enrique in person, rather than “switch” anyone without your knowledge, that is not our practice of business) Additional lighting was added to your event, (not at your request, so at no charge to you), requiring additional set up, therefore requiring additional hands. They stayed during the event to make sure all the lights provided what they were supposed to during your event. The breakdown of those individuals are Johnny (English MC/DJ), Enrique (Spanish MC), Carlos (Additional DJ, specializing in Latin Regional Music, Additional Lighting), Javier (Lighting Assistant). In addition, Johnny mentioned the ceremony was now inside, so he was unable to set his reception equipment until after, shortening his set up time. The additional hands assisted with that set up so that the event did not run late.
Enrique (Spanish MC): I met with Johnny on this point as well and he informed me he had released Enrique at approximately 11:00pm due to the fact that his Emcee duties (ie. Formalities/Formal Announcements) were no longer needed at that point. From that point on it was dancing without specific instructions needed, so Johnny felt he was able to confidently let Enrique go, since you had met Carlos on your first initial meeting with us, so he was not a stranger. We apologize for what seems to be a different level of encouragement on Carlos’ part, as he was focusing on the music and the dance floor creation for you and your guests. He felt Carlos would be a good addition to combine their knowledge of the Latin regional music that had been requested to create a full dance floor. (ie. Norteno, Rancheras, etc.) Sound System: We apologize for any sound you feel was unclear – Johnny is unsure as to why that may be as he said he received no complaints or concerns throughout the evening.
Johnny Villa: Johnny is a reflection on us as he is our employee and we are pleased you were satisfied with his ability to serve your needs and requests. In your review you state that you would hire Johnny, but not PJ Events….are you able to elaborate so that we may work on this for future clients? Was there anything specific we did not say or not do, what could we have done better as company owners?
Cost: There are many outlays that the general public does not see in regards to company expenses. Not only do we pay our performers, but income taxes, equipment insurance, general liability insurance, DJ system, speakers, microphones, car insurance, health insurance, gas (events, client meetings, site inspections),music purchase subions (Radio Programming Management), employee payroll taxes, health insurance, telephone lines, office supplies, office/warehouse rent, etc. All of these costs are figured by our business accountant where a final price is discussed and agreed upon so that the business can continue to function. Since we do this for a living, this is our sole income, whereas some DJ’s might do this on weekends only “for fun” or as a “second job” and can depend on a weekly salaried income to offset any other expenses, therefore shrinking their sales price.
Johnny also stated the following comments in regard to the evening:
- Johnny checked in with Martin at regular intervals and each time was assured everything was fine and no issues were brought to his attention in regard to sound or music selections.
- When requested to play Dad’s music (50’s genre), a full set was played shortly after requested.
- Gratuity was given to Johnny at the end of the evening.
- Johnny and Enrique visited each table (as is our company policy) to introduce themselves, say hello and collect music requests from your guests.
- They strictly followed the “No Play” list to make sure that the music you did not want to hear did not get played.

It is very important to us to satisfy our clients’ needs and requests and we are extremely saddened that we seem to have lacked in that area for your wedding, and again we offer our sincerest apologies. The after reports given by Johnny and Enrique stated a happy and successful event, with a full dance floor and joyful atmosphere – we are very sorry if you and your guests were unhappy for any reason.
We hope we have addressed your concerns and want to let you know that we will continue to strive to better ourselves and our company so that this does not happen in the future.
