All I can say is, BEST WEDDING CAKE EVER. Oh my gosh, the cake was GOOD, and our guests could not get enough of it! We went to Rocio with a rough vision of what we wanted the Groom's cake and wedding cake to look like, and within 5 minutes, she had sketched out exactly what we had pictured in our heads. She is a wonderfully kind woman who works out of her home, and her cakes are not only beautifully constructed, but they are yummy!

We fell in love with Rocio at our first cake tasting. She was actually our first cake tasting of all of our cake tastings and she set the bar extremely high. We had our tasting the day after we had been hit by a huge snow storm. And she still managed to be able to prepare our selections. Her buttercream is AMAZING!!! And her cake is super moist and was the best wedding cake that I have tasted. She hand sketched my cake as I told her the details that I wanted on it. She was also able to replicate a very old 1950's recipe of my husband's late grandmother as the grooms cake! She also believes that no couples should freeze their top layer of their cake so on your ONE year anniversary she bakes a little topper for you to enjoy!! That is awesome!

Both Rocio and her cakes are AMAZING! We are very big on sweets so we knew that we wanted to have an amazing cake at our wedding. We struggled finding someone that could make an affordable cake that both looked beautiful and tasted amazing...until we met Rocio! The second we walked into her home for our consultation we knew we were going to love everything about her. The cake was out of this world (we highly recommend the Strawberry cake with cheescake filling) :) To top it off, she worked with our florist to help make the cake look absolutely beautiful for our wedding day! Thank you Rocio!

Rocio's cake is moist and delicious! Rocio bakes out of her Ashburn home and uses all natural ingredients. The cake she provided us on our wedding day tasted great, but looked slightly different than the one she had sketched for us. Regardless, it was still beautiful, and our guests really enjoyed her cake (while we enjoyed the frozen left-overs after our honeymoon). Rocio allows you to have each tier of your cake be different flavors, and she let us come for two tastings. Her prices are reasonable. We sampled a number of wedding cakes in the area, but Rocio's was by far the best. While Rocio won't bake cupcakes or mini-cakes to give away as wedding favors, she does say she'll re-bake the bride and groom's top tier for their one year anniversary (so we won't have to eat a frozen, stale cake on our anniversary-- we're okay with breaking traidtion if it means eating good cake!).

Rocio was super-sweet, fun, and easy to work with. She graciously accommodated my mom, dad, sister, and fiance for the tasting (though Dad was a last-minute addition, she happened to have an extra tasting plate available). The tasting was great fun, and certainly more than a "tasting"...we all left with overly-full--but very happy-- tummies! I noticed that her prices have gone up since we booked her last fall, and deservedly so. For the base price per slice, we had tiers of different flavors and multiple fillings per tier, decorated with fondant ribbons and a piped pattern around the base of the layer, and Rocio arranged flowers on top (beautifully, might I add)....yes, all for the base price. I remember when buying my sister's wedding cake, anything beyond a plain white cake with buttercream filling was an extra charge. So perhaps her prices have gone up, but I would daresay she's still an excellent value in this market. Besides the great value and absolutely fabulous cake, she's a lovely person with a wonderfully cheerful and calm outlook. It doesn't get better than that! Thanks, Rocio!!

This is how much we loved working with A Piece of Cake - they were the driving force behind us writing any reviews on Wedding Wire at all! Rocio never asked us to write a review, she never even suggested it, she just did such a wonderful job that we felt we would be remiss for not telling everyone how great she is to work with.

My sister-in-law used A Piece of Cake for her wedding and everything looked and tasted amazing, so when it came time for us to look for a cake, we knew where we wanted to start. We knew after meeting Rocio, sampling her cakes, and seeing the photos of her work that we did not even need to explore other vendors. I should note that Rocio does work out of her house, which might turn some people off. However, her office and kitchen are both very professional and we loved that we knew the individual that would be responsible for our cake. Additionally, she limits that number of weddings she does so she can be focused and enjoy her work.

When Rocio met with us she gave us lots of time to look over pictures while she put together samples for us to taste. She really listened to what we were looking for and was able to make several impressive sketches based on our ideas right there on the spot. One of the other things that attracted us most to A Piece of Cake was that the use of fondant was avoided. Yes, fondant may make a cake look nice, but it tastes terrible. In any case, if you are talented, like Rocio, you can make a cake look perfectly smooth using buttercream frosting. The day of our wedding the cake was exactly as we had pictured it. It also tasted great and all the guests kept trying to get the servers to bring them additional pieces and flavors (our cake was three layers - chocolate on vanilla, almond with raspberry mousse, and fresh strawberry swirl with cheesecake filling).

I have been to a ton of weddings and never liked cake. In fact, I only wanted a small, symbolic cake to cut and a dessert table. Rocio changed my mind. Her cakes were so delicious, it was hard to decide what flavor to go with. I liked her cakes so much, I ended up ordering a groom's cake as a surprise for my husband at the rehearsal. Her cakes did not disappoint. The groom's cake likeness of a Red Sox baseball hat was unbelievable and our wedding cake was gorgeous. And both were delish!!!!

My wedding cake from A Piece of Cake was one of the highlights of my wedding. I had many, many compliments on the taste of the cake as well as the decorations. Rocio was a joy to work with - so good at what she does and willing to work with me to find the perfect design and flavor combinations. She was so helpful and patient in providing many, many different flavors of cake for tastings. She helped me come up with a flavor combination that was not in her usual repertoire - chocolate with chocolate ganache and raspberry preserves - and it was fabulous. As were her coconut and lemon, which I highly recommend.

From her lovely office to her invoices and letters, Rocio is extremely professional, and this made me very confident that I could count on her. She created exactly the design I wanted for my cake - and the BEST part: she was able to create a beautiful, smooth fondant-look with BUTTERCREAM icing!!! SO beautiful and SO much more yummy than fondant. I cannot recommend her more highly.

I did not price out my cake to other bakers, so I cannot comment on the price of the cake compared to others - but I was very happy with it and the price was totally worth it to me.

Rocio, I just wanted to let you know that I walked into the reception room and gasped when I saw my wedding cake! Everything came out exactly as I envisioned! I can't tell you enough how amazingly DELICIOUS it was as well as how perfect it looked - too good to eat (although we did hahaha). Everyone I spoke to couldn't stop raving about it. If I ever need another cake for a special function, you're my go-to decorator and I will definitely pass your name on to others who may need your services. Thank you again!!

AMAZING!!! We have ordered two cakes from Rocio, one was our wedding cake and the other one was for my fiances (now husbands) law school graduation cake. They were both perfect! The attention to detail in incredible. Rocio is very professional and honestly I couldn't imagine having anyone else make our wedding cake. It was flawless. I can't thank her enough for the numerous hours she put in.

WOW- that is what we said when we tasted Rocio's fantastic cake. We tried about 4 different cake vendors and Rocio's was the best. We were extremely satisfied with her professionalism. We told her what we were looking for in a cake and she beautifully sketched it out for us. She made suggestions and made the process incredibly easy.

I don't care for very sweet frostings, but Rocio's frosting I could have eaten with a spoon. It was so light and yet complemented the cake. The chocolate eclair filling was INCREDIBLE. The cake was moist, and on the night of the wedding you could tell it had not been frozen! Her almond cake was fantastic, especially with the raspberry cream middle!

We currently have our top tier in the freezer, but we may break it out soon because the cake was SO good. We were so impressed, and it looked SO beautiful on the night of wedding. She worked with our florist to get some fresh flowers for the cake, and WOW. Absolutely perfect. I just wish we had gotten a bigger cake for more leftovers : ) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Rocio has got to be the sweetest person I have ever met. From the beginning she was also so helpful. When we were there for our tasting, a bride's mother told us we woudn't go any further, and boy was she right. We wanted wedding cupcakes (and a 6in cake for us to cut) and she was more than willing to accommodate what we wanted. We brought her a picture of an idea and she helped us achieve the look we wanted right there on the spot. She even whipped out icing to see if she could achieve the cupcake swirl as well as she made a few gold dots of the icing for us to see. She was cheaper than the other place we checked out and even gave us money saving ideas. As much as I hate to admit it, I was one of those brides that changed colors late in the game and Rocio had no problems making the changes. Our guests loved her cake and since we had a lot leftover (I needed more to fill my stand) they took them home! She also made my groom's cake at the last minute. Although I didn't get the cake I originally wanted (my fault not hers, I waited to long to ask her) we came up with an idea that worked without any problems. When you come for a tasting, you don't get a nibble You get a plate of her yummy cake. She was also able to accommodate our request for nutella and fresh strawberries for our 6 in cake, as well as 4 other flavors for our cupcakes. Not to mention she found a Nutella Pound Cake recipe randomly, thought of me, and printed it off for me to keep! Our wedding wasn't local and we had to transport the cupcakes ourselves. She bought special boxes for our cupcakes, as well as put ice packs inside our cake to make sure it wouldn't spoil. I am only sad I don't have any more of her cake to eat. Go with her and you'll be a happy bride. She loves what she does and you can certainly tell. I am hoping there is a reason to get a cake from her soon...it was that good!

Rocio made a delicious and beautiful cake for our wedding, we loved it. I was very pleased with our cake, especially since we made most of the arrangements over email. Since I was living overseas for for a few months before the wedding, this was one vendor I dealt with primarily via email only sending my MOH in for a tasting. Rocio is very creative and the design process was a lot of fun. I only wish I could have met her in person, but hopefully, someday I can order another cake from her for a different occasion and go in for a tasting myself!

We met with a few different wedding cake companies before we went to Ashburn to visit Rocio. We had a mad hatter cake in mind in the colors of our wedding (purple, orange, and green) -- not your traditional wedding cake by any matter. Rocio not only said she could do it, she helped us figure out a few more details of the look of the cake to make it extra special. She took out her pencil and drew our cake while we were sitting with her so we could see what it would look like. Together we made a few changes but left knowing what our cake would look like. Next, was the cake tasting. She gave us a variety of different cakes to try as well as different icings so we could make our own combos and decide which we like. They all were delicious, but we finally decided on a strawberry cake with fresh strawberries and butter cream icing. This all happened in Rocios at home office which is decorated in beautiful shabby chic style. After spending some time with her, you can tell she loves her job and working with couples to make the wedding cake of their dreams. When it came to our wedding day, I was so thrilled to see Rocio and the cake! It was everything I could have dreamed of and more. Everyone said to us that they had never seen a cooler cake in their lives-- and it was so delicious!
We cant wait until our first anniversary just to enjoy our cake again!
