I absolutely feel that Tara Melvin at Perfect Planning is worth her salt. She handled every detail entrusted to her very professionally and with the utmost class. I was blown away by her commitment to us as her clients. I never felt that she was overwhelmed in any way by all of her other client duties. She made us feel like we were always a priority. On the day of the event she handled everything with tireless attention to detail. I was tired just watching her. She was never frazzled or confused. My wedding day was the best I could imagined because of Tara Melvin of Perfect Planning.

We absolutely loved Tara and her team at Perfect Planning. Tara was definitely worth her weight in gold. I gave her 5 stars for everything because I can't think of any area that she wasn't great in. Our wedding day was perfect thanks to Perfect Planning!
Tara recommended vendors that were absolutely wonderful. Everything was so beautiful and everyone was so professional. She met with vendors with us and was always available via email and phone. She took care of all of the last minute details and allowed me to be a "stress-free" bride. Since I am a teacher and we got married at the beginning of the school year, all of my friends, family and coworkers expected me to be a wreck but I wasn't thanks to Tara and her team. Even from our first meeting with Tara, we knew that we wanted to work with her. If you want a classic, timeless and unforgettable wedding I strongly recommend choosing Tara as your planner.

Initially we thought that we did not need a wedding planner. We thought we could do everything by ourselves:) Remembering each task and organizing the wedding became a daunting task until we hired Tara as our coordinator. Tara was sooo... helpful. She took the stress away by keeping us on track with all of our vendors and all the little things.
The day of the wedding in the middle of the hurricane we decided that we weren't going to worry any more and Tara helped us do just that. With her team of helpers Tara made the wedding day easy and worry free. We give Perfect Planning the highest recommendation! Thank you soooooo much Tara!

There are not enough "thank you's" in the world for the wonderful work that Tara Melvin and Perfect Planning provided for us for our wedding. All the planning led to the "best day of our lives". Our wedding was so fantastic that after it was over I wanted to do it all over again!!

Tara was absolutely amazing. It is hard to find the words to describe how perfect her services were. We used her as a day of coordinator, and I only wish I had used her to plan my entire wedding. Tara was professional, prompt, friendly and attentive. During the planning process Tara was able to answer my questions and help guide me in the right direction. When I had an issue with my caterer messing up the floor plan, Tara stepped right in and had it fixed the way I wanted it. Tara made sure that our wedding day went smoothly. There was a slight seating issue due to the caterer and Tara fixed it right away. Also, she could not attend my rehearsal dinner, so instead got another wedding planner to come and attend the day of the wedding at no charge. She also had that wedding planner attend all meetings so we could all be on the same page (Marilyn with Joyous Events, also wonderful!!). Perfect Planning by Tara is absolutely perfect and hiring her was the best decision we made in the entire planning process!

I was the groom and initially didn't think it would be necessary to have a wedding planner. The decision to hire Tara, though, was one of the best we made in the planning process. She is very efficient and communicative and I am positive that our wedding would have been a mess without her.

Tara and her staff were the absolute best from beginning to end. Even though we only hired her for the "day of service" her and her staff were there for us from the very minute we hired (months before the wedding). I would highly recommend her services to any bride!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We hired Tara after using WeddingWire to identify and interview several other wedding planners. We were searching for a partial wedding planner to help us in the three months leading up to the event, after we had booked our reception venue, photographer, and church. After meeting Tara, we knew we had met our planner. She was courteous, but not a push over- a must when dealing with our large families. She had experience, but was open to our suggestions and really listened to our concerns. Tara assisted us with recommendations for floral, linen, and transportation vendors. She arranged meetings with the vendors and, when necessary, drew up contracts on our behalf. She worked with us to develop an overall plan for the event- tying up loose ends and finalizing decisions. She developed the schedule for the day-of and communicated it to the wedding party and vendors. She helped us assemble wedding favors, monitored our vendor payment schedule, and helped us avoid wedding-etiquette bombshells! She and her staff provided on-site coordination and saved the day when banquet coordinators at the reception site scheduled two events too close together, leaving inadequate time to prepare the room for our event. Tara and her staff stepped in and cleaned and decorated the room so the event remained essentially on schedule. They literally had brooms in-hand! Taras services were an excellent value for the money. She brought a team of three planners with her on the day of our event. She was friendly, flexible, and willing to go above and beyond her contract to make us happy. We highly recommend Tara. Get her while you can, because once she realizes what a deal she is giving you, it might be too late!

Perfect Planning made all of my wedding planning and needs so easy, not to mention the smoothness of the entire process. From selecting the rehearsal dinner site to the actual wedding day, Tara was there to help with all the important decisions. I could not have imagined pulling this event off without Tara's professional assistance and input. Perfect Planning is definitely one of the best in the Washington D.C. area and highly recommend her services!

Tara and her staff were very helpful. My fiance and I contracted with her 8 months before the wedding and although we hired her for "day of" planning, she really made sure we had all of our ducks in a row for the big day and also offered help with selecting vendors. I would definitely recommend Tara and her staff to any bride who wants to enjoy their day instead of worrying about logistics.

As this was a very special day in our lives, the owner from the very first day of providing service after giving her an outline of our wishes, she made sure it happened. We were given schedules, timelines and task to provide her with information which at the end there was no confusion about what was needed or going to happen. Tara is wonderful to work with! She is extremely helpful during the planning process even though we only had her for the day of! She is always available and very quick to respond to all e-mails! She is extremely professional and relatively well-priced. We did have a few issues mostly on the rehearsal and wedding day. The issues were not major but should be noted. The rehearsal did not run smoothly. Part of this was my fault for not communicating clearly and part of this was a neglect to focus on particular details. For example, in several of the e-mails Tara sent to the bridal party and the vendors details were incorrect. She had the time of our wedding incorrect which I found disappointing and frustrating, and had the band playing at the ceremony instead of the reception. We went over the timeline at length and there were still misunderstandings/changes that Tara had trouble adjusting to. On the wedding day she did a GREAT job setting up the room and her assistants were so nice. Unfortunately, the assistants did not seem informed and lacked specific knowledge of the night's events. The assitants could not function independently and depended on Tara for direction. Tara had to be in close proximity at all times or the assistants did not know what was going on. She relieved me of a great number of worries and it was essential to have someone working for us.

The process of working with them worked very smoothly and they selected excellent vendors to work with. I value the comments and respect the opinions of all my clients; however, I must say that there is a false claim made within this review. The Bride states that I sent incorrect information regarding the start of her wedding to her wedding party, and that I had the band playing at her ceremony. Very incorrect information! I see that the Bride stated that her wedding started at 4:30pm, when in fact, the wedding started at 5pm. This time was provided by the Bride and her mother, and all the documents that they provided to me from their vendors, all stated that the wedding started at 5pm which never changed. The email that I sent to her wedding party was only sent twice, but the email was approved by the client before I emailed to the wedding party. This is an email that highlights the events for the wedding weekend and the times of the activities. I sent the email to the Bride and her Mother to proof, and they approved them email which included the right time. The only item the Bride wanted me to change was the start time of the rehearsal dinner and the address (which I asked of the Bride and Mother because I did not have that information). Once the Bride and Mother approved, the email was delivered to the wedding party (a ceremony start time of 5pm, and reception at 6pm). In reference to the comment about the band playing at the ceremony; I sent the itinerary of events to the Bride and her Mother to proof before wedding day. The Mother emailed me stating that there was an error; that I had the band information beside the ceremony information. I changed the information on the itinerary per the Mother’s request because it was an oversight. This itinerary was never emailed to the vendor; this was a copy for me to keep so that I would know how the time of the activities of the day. Knowing the start time of my client’s wedding and activities is key! This is information that I would never get confused nor would I send incorrect information to vendors or wedding party. I allow my clients to proofread information that I send out before it goes to pertinent vendors or wedding party. The Bride and Mother approved the email that was sent to the wedding party; the start time of her wedding was at 5pm and not 4:30pm; and the vendor never saw the error of the band playing at the reception – that was an itinerary for me that I asked the client to proofread. Any potential clients that need proof of this incorrect information provided by the client, I have documentation to support the accuracy of my information and my actions.
