GREAT urban reception!!!

i LOVED this space... everything came together perfectly. i wanted something different, and as a photographer, i wanted something with a lot of style that would be great for pics. 1617 event space is above the Nara restaurant, with a large staircase but also an elevator (great for the older guests and bringing in supplies and our photo booth). there is a full wall of windows that the wedding party table had our backs to- looks out to a spectacular view of downtown KC! they also set up christmas lights draping from the ceiling and along a few posts in the room, along with lit black and white large paper lanterns hanging from the exposed ceiling. the ONLY difficulty we had was with their event planner- we were working originally ended up leaving Nara, so we worked with their new planner, Ford, who was a lot more difficult and even stood us up for a meeting one time! Alas, everything worked out perfectly in the end, and despite the stress with their planner, it was literally everything i could have imagined :)

We had the best experience with 1617 Event Space at Nara. We had our ceremony and reception in this space as well as using them to cater our event. The room was set up and ready to go. We never even had to step foot in the space on the day of to check on anything. Debbi, the event space coordinator was excellent! She understood what we needed and got it done. The presentation of the food was beautiful and it tasted great! We got so many compliments from our friends and family about how much they loved the space and how great the food was. Debbi even took care of all of the rental items we needed. We told her what we wanted and she dealt with the rental company. Everything arrived just as we wanted.

Working with the Event Space was one of the most worry-free and unstressful parts of our wedding. We used them for our reception venue and for catering our buffet. The ladies at Event Space were so wonderful to work with, and even though we were planning our reception from halfway across the country, they were great about working out the details via phone and emails. We actually booked them without even seeing the space or tasting the food in person. We were THAT confident in their services. The food was fabulous!! We still have guests raving about it, and the chef willingly catered to our requests and created some items that he thought we would enjoy. LOVED the food. The loft area was a great space to have our reception and we loved that they were open to incorporating all of our ideas and suggestions for decorating and setup, even providing us with the necessary tools and referrals. After only meeting face-to-face a couple of times, we felt like we were a part of the family. Our reception was fabulous, and I knew that on the day of my wedding, I didn't have to worry about a thing, they would take care of anything. If something went wrong, I never knew about it, and I appreciated that we were able to just kick back and have a great party with our guests.
