We are alumni of the University of Maryland, so the Memorial Chapel was a very special and meaningful place for us to get married. I think the chapel is beautiful both outside and in; it's a great backdrop for photos! While the schedule you have for the day is tight (we had the chapel from 3:45 - 6:30 for our 5:00 pm wedding), the staff is very up front about that from the beginning of your planning. We had a very short ceremony and no receiving line, so this was no issue for us. Besides, the tight schedule ensures that you have total access to the main chapel and all the chapel grounds (like the beautiful garden to the right side of the chapel) for photographs without any other wedding groups encroaching on your space. The staff was very professional and helpful both at our rehearsal and the day of. Overall it is a great ceremony venue, particularly for Terrapins!

As it is the chapel on the campus of our Alma Matter, we absolutely had to have the ceremony at the Memorial Chapel. However, that being said, the staff really did everything they could to make it a wonderful experience. They were very pleasant and assisted us with all of our needs. Although, I think it was a kittle costly to rent considering we were both alumni, I think it was totally worth it and the pictures are absolutely stunning,. What a perfect way to honor the place where we both met!

The place is lovely, but you are kept on a tight schedule. We felt that they rushed us out of the church

They were very professional, and the chapel is beautiful, but for the amount of money charged, I feel that there could be a little more time alotted for your reheasal and wedding day.

My husband and I are alumni of the university-getting married here was our dream. We loved this as our ceremony site, but did not like the time limit we had. We also compared getting married here as opposed to my hometown church- we would have saved more money if we married at my hometown church. As alumni, we got a discount rate of 850.00 for the chapel. If we had married at my church, we would have only had to make a minimal 300-400 donation.

I thought parking would be a problem for my guests, but suprisingly it was not. I did not hear of anyone getting a parking ticket at the ceremony.

P.S. If you plan to have an hour long ceremony, consider paying for the next time slot as well to allow for pictures. I did not get all the pictures I wanted because our ceremony was very long.

You don't choose the Memorial Chapel for flexibility-you choose it because it's your alma mater! They are on a tight schedule and have pretty strict rules, but it was beautiful and the perfect place for two alums to marry.

Before the wedding day, UMD chapel sent us a form to fill out of what we have and need for the chapel. The Chapel has very good organ system and works perfectly than a piano. Chapel allows to have rehearsal one week or a day before the wedding ceremony.

On the wedding day, there will be two assistants to help out during the ceremony and they did a great job.

Recommendation: Always pick out the organist from the list that provided by UMD chapel because they really know to set up the music and very professional.

She was great at the rehearsal she is a semi-wedding coordinator for the location that day. Overall the staff members are very responsive and extremely friendly.
