They did an amazing job with the flowers for our wedding. The bouquets were everything I would have hoped for and more. The colors were perfect and exactly what we had talked about when meeting with her. The flowers for groom, best man, maid of honor, family members and centerpieces were perfect. She had created exactly what we had pictured. She did a wondeful job, everything was perfectly done. Would highly recommend

Flowers: 4.8/5 - Highly Recommend
May Lane took care of all of our ceremony and reception flowers and decorations. Everything looked awesome. We were clueless as to what type of flowers we wanted and we did not really know how we wanted everything decorated. All we knew was that we wanted something that looked great, but was also simple and unique. May Lane managed to do exactly that and it looked better than we had imagined. The price was also very reasonable.

Wedding Planning: 3/5
May Lane (Mary Beth and Amy) provided the wedding planning for our wedding. We did most of the pre-wedding portion of the planning ourselves, so they really just served as a supplement and the day of coordinators.

Pros:
The cost for wedding planning was very reasonable. They did a good job of organizing all of our wedding rentals and setting everything up. The reception tables were arranged nicely and they made sure there was enough room for our guests to move about freely. Mary Beth also made a great suggestion to use chair sashes instead of table runners for our tables. That, along with her recommendations on the tenting (that we should have less) saved us money, which we greatly appreciated. They did a good job of cuing the ceremony musicians to start the music and also when the wedding party needed to walk down the aisle. The toast was poured and ready on time.

Cons:
Slow responses to our questions and concerns about our wedding day.
During the reception, they never checked in with us to see if everything was going well or to see if we needed anything. Also it was the DJ and the photographers, not May Lane, who kept us informed of our time-line and when things needed to get done (i.e. toast, cake cutting).
The room for the cocktail hour was not set up properly about an hour before it was to begin and the bartenders/caterers didn't know what they were supposed to do with the room. We, our parents, ushers, and bridal party, had to run around to make sure that everything for the cocktail hour was set up on time. It was something that caused us undue stress right before our ceremony and we should not have had to worry about it.
They did not serve as the single point of contact on the wedding day - our vendors were confused as to who was running things and tended to ask us questions, which took us away from our reception/guests and put more responsibility on us to make sure things went according to plan.


Overall Recommendation:
May Lane Designs did a satisfactory job (in wedding planning) for the price. Nothing about the wedding planning service was amazing or blew us away. Their rating would have improved if they had simply checked in with us, even just once, during the reception to make sure everything was going okay.

However, we highly recommend their flower and decoration services - everything really did look great!

We had a 150 guest wedding at Ingleside Vineyards and used May Lane Designs (Amy and MaryBeth) for all floral services as well as wedding coordination services. This review will just be for floral and there is a separate one for coordination. Amy and MaryBeth tackled centerpieces for 12 tables, my bridal bouquet, 6 bridesmaids bouquets, 12 boutonni�res, the top of my cake, several specialty tables (guest book , display, appetizer tables, etc), a huge pergola, my hair, and all flower girl baskets and hair. Overall, I think May Lane Designs did an AMAZING job with all of the floral arrangements for the wedding ceremony and reception. I would definitely recommend using May Lane Designs as their floral contact to other brides in the area.

FLORAL (4.5/5 stars):
Pros: First of all, I was probably a very tough client because I knew exactly what I wanted for all of my floral arrangements. I did NOT want anything �standard� like roses or calla lilies at my wedding and they both worked directly with me to get all of my flowers styled exactly the way that I wanted them and within a budget that I could manage. I had originally requested peonies to be used in my bouquet and in my hair, but a week or so before the wedding they contacted me and told me that the peonies that were available during that time were not very good quality. While I was initially bummed, I realize that it wasn�t their fault and thanked them for being honest with me and concerned about providing low-quality flowers. They presented a few other ideas of flowers that would appear comparable and replace the peonies and my bouquet came out beautiful. They even wired me several different choices of flowers to put into my hair and wired some last minute hair flowers for the flower girls as well. I was going for a rustic look and I requested mason jars to be used in the centerpieces and May Lane Designs took care of purchasing the jars. The flowers were delivered fresh, hardy, and they tied perfectly tied into my color scheme. My father even made an arbor that acted as a backdrop for our ceremony and they decorated it to perfection with my specific flowers, grape vine clippings, and grapes from the vineyard to tie everything in. Any leftover flowers they used to decorate the other tables in our reception/cocktail hour space. They threw in several free flowers as well, like the toss bouquet that was not part of our contract. To top it all off, they were very reasonably priced. When I tell other people how much I paid for the flowers, people�s jaws just drop � I think May Lane Designs is top notch value for amazing looking flowers. And finally, as a favor in May, I asked May Lane Designs to order some pink gerbera daisies and green spider mums for a friends baby shower - they gave me a great price and the flowers turned out very beautiful.

Cons: While everything with the flowers did turn out beautiful, I wish that I could have gotten the floral specifications in writing from May Lane Design. Most of our discussions took place in person and while I provided pictures exemplifying what I wanted my flowers to look like, I never got anything in writing that I could make reference to or for my own piece of mind. Additionally, while the flower colors came out perfectly, the ribbon that they used to decorate the centerpieces was a little �off�. My colors were periwinkle blue and dark chocolate brown and the brown ribbon that was used ended up looking more red than brown.

COORDINATION (3/5 stars):
Pros: I secured the majority of my vendors on my own so I primarily hired Amy and MaryBeth for day-of coordination services since I wanted to enjoy my wedding day and not have to put up with the hassle of coordinating all the vendors we used at the vineyard. In addition to day-of coordination, they also handled my event rentals (i.e. tables, chairs, linens, etc). I basically gave them a detailed list of exactly what I wanted, quantity, deion, and color. Because they used a vendor they work with often, I realized a cost savings and it was one less vendor I had to contract with. They both attended my rehearsal and had regular meetings and conversations to keep everyone on the same page. I originally planned to have my wedding and cocktail hour outdoors and the reception indoors. It rained buckets at the rehearsal the day before my wedding and I convinced myself that my wedding day would be the same. I asked Amy and MaryBeth set up the indoor reception area in order to do the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception in the pavilion and they obliged. The day of the wedding turned out to be sunny and hot. So two hours before the ceremony was to begin, I asked Amy and MaryBeth if we could move the ceremony back outdoors. They patiently obliged my flip-flopping and had some of the groomsman and male guests help haul the chairs and the arbor/arch outside. They did a great job on the day of the wedding getting everyone lined up for the ceremony and cuing the string duo. They even helped hunt down all the groomsmen who were hiding out at the bar in order to get everyone lined up for introductions. They helped manage the DJ and the caterers to ensure everything on the day-of went smoothly, everything was cued on time, and made sure I didn�t have anything to worry about. They set up the entire reception area exactly the way I wanted it. They ensured all of the place-settings were complete, all the tables were properly labeled and populated with the wedding favors, decorations, and other items that I provided, and acted as point-people for all the vendors. They even tried to be mature when dealing with some of our drunk and belligerent guests. After all is said and done, I am SOOOOOO glad that I used a day-of coordinator because there was NO way I would have been able to handle everything that Amy and MaryBeth did on my own. I am also glad that I did not try to involve my family and friends to do what they did because they acted as an impartial liaison, who knew exactly what needed to happen, when it needed to happen, and not a single one of our guests was ever inconvenienced with a duty or task.

Cons: During the planning phase it was frustrating dealing with May Lane over email and it was confusing trying to get on the same page. I would send emails to them both, and they would both respond back to me individually with different answers and end up with 2 conversation streams going on at the same time. It got frustrating and after a good bit of confusion I ended up putting my foot down and worked only with MaryBeth during the planning phase. After that, it was much easier to manage everything. There was also a bit of confusion regarding the wedding rentals during the planning phase that gave me a little heartburn, but everything was resolved before the wedding and the rentals turned out fine.

I loved my flowers from May Lane Designs! The colors were absolutely perfect and she was so thoughtful to call and check with me about substituting one type of flower for another when the original wasn't available from the whole-saler. Mary Beth did an excellent job of working within my budget and suggesting flowers that would be both beautiful and affordable. Her proposal contained almost exactly the same elements as a few stores in Alexandria that would have charged me nearly double! I whole-heartedly recommend their services.

May Lane did an awesome job with our wedding. She co-coordinated with the wedding planner from the vineyard and together they were an awesome pair. Marybeth handled numerous vendors and also a quick setup for our wedding since the vineyard had an event the same day. We never knew that anything went wrong (little did) and we got to enjoy a stress free day with our family and friends. We can not thanks these two ladies enough for the beautiful setup, flowers, food and all their help.

Everyone associated with May Lane was very helpful and worked with all of our vendors to make sure that our day was amazing! They handled everything very professionally and were very capable of making sure that things went as planned. They also provided flowers for our wedding. We used orchids and they were gorgeous for the ceremony and reception. May Lane was awesome about adding strings of orchids for the ceremony and flower pieces for the flower girls hair. We loved everything that they put together and again we can not thank them enough for everything they did for us!

I used May Lane Designs for all my flowers and coordinating for my wedding. The designers there were wonderful and created just what I had envisioned for my wedding. I didn't have a huge budget but I was so impressed at the way they made my small budget stretch! Everything was just unbelievable. I loved everything they did. The colors were perfect, exactly as I asked, the flowers were breathtaking and the service was impeccable! They set everything up at the church for me and I didn’t have to worry about anything. They gave me wonderful and unique ideas that I would never have thought of but that perfectly fit my style. I would recommend this florist to anyone.

My wedding color was navy blue and I requested dark blue Iris flowers to match. Because Iris are often purple I specified that she would need to ensure they were dark blue. I even sent Mary Beth a swatch of the bridemaids dress so she could match the color - she confirmed that she received the swatch. All of the Iris were purple!! The pedestal arrangements were supposed to be all-around, instead they were only one-sided. Our order was $1,000, which was about $400 dollars less than another vendor we were considering. We should have paid more to get the flowers we wanted instead of wasting $1,000 on flowers that looked like they were for someone else's wedding - my husband thought they delivered the wrong flowers!

The flowers were beautiful! They were on time to the church and finished decorating well before it was time for pictures. They were very fresh and anything that had been frozen or wilted was replaced no extra cost. They brought extra to add touches here and there that were not even requested. Everything looked wonderful. It would have been nice to have more pictures of what I was ordering. I had an idea of what the unity candle flowers would look like and it was much less than I pictured. Everything was lovely and looked wonderful. I just had a few false expectations that could have been avoided if I had a better picture of what I was getting from the start.

I am very pleased that I chose to go with May Lane Designs for my wedding flowers. They did all my floral arrangements and all my bouquets, they did everything. They made my rental space look like someething out of a wedding magazine. They are amazing, especially for the price.

This company was really great. I didn't really know what I wanted with my wedding and they had all these great ideas. They did my flowers, my decorations and my wedding planning. It was like a one-stop shop where I got everything. And I got it for a really great price too! They made my wedding so beautiful, my married friends are jealous because I got tons of flowers and decorations for the same price as them; and I got way more! These girls are great, seriously!

My wedding would not have been as beautiful if I did not have May Lane's help. They helped me pick my colors, and theme of my wedding and made every single flower that I wanted work in my wedding day. It was wonderful and affordable!
