I do not want to get into an argument over this, but would like to give my point of view.
I only ever met with the parents of the groom, the bride never showed up for any of the consultations nor called, nor e-mailed. During the first consultation I was asked for mini cupcakes, then in the second consultation I was asked to design full size cupcakes, in the third consultation I was asked to design a cake, in the fourth consultation I was asked to design a cake around a cake topper of huge felt birds that were twice as big as the cake they had ordered. All this time there was no communication with the bride and the parents of the groom did not know what she wanted.
I believe that under the circumstances I was more than patient, four consultations is more than any designer will do for a two tiered cake or cupcakes.
It is very difficult to get an idea of what a design should be like when dealing with a third party. I had asked for colour swatches, invitation or other design element to follow, but was given nothing.
Finally when it came to making the cake, the brown that had been suggested to me just didn't look good with the deep purple and, since I was told by the bride's parents to make any changes I thought necessary I changed the brown vines to green. When they picked up the cake they agreed it was prettier.
Finally, I held the cake and the door for about 15 minutes whilst the client and I waited for her husband, but when my phone rang and customers came into the shop I had to go inside and put the cake down. I was on the phone when finally the driver was outside so the client (bride's mother in law) took the cake and left.

This was a free cake included in a wedding package, the colours and the type of flower the bride wanted were respected.
