Brenden, aka DJ Tanner, brought the party to our wedding this past weekend. His personality matched ours perfectly, he was extremely easy going and great to work with! I was a pretty organized Bride, and he answered every question I had and made me feel at ease. I actually booked Be Kuhl after Brenden commented on a post I had made on Facebook about my venue- he went above & beyond, stopping at our venue a few weeks early to check it out. Our music was great from ceremony to dance, and even our officiant praised his work during our ceremony. He also set up our slideshow to play during dinner and made sure it would go off without a hitch, dismissed our tables during dinner, kept the party going, and stayed late when our guests wanted to keep dancing! The lighting made the place look awesome during the dance & he took an end of the night photo of all of us which is an amazing keepsake! Great Guy!!!!!!!

fyi, if you are super planner like I was: I freaked a little in the beginning months of planning because I wasn't patient enough to hear back from the owner on things- I think they are so popular and talented they do many, many events and don't always have time to respond to a million emails...phone calls might be the way to go! But in the end when we sat down for our meeting to go over everything my nerves were calmed, Brenden did amazing, and our night was perfect!

We also rented the photobooth through them as well. Guests seemed to love it and we got a sweet guestbook of all the goofy pictures at the end of the night, which is more fun to look back at than a traditional guestbook in my mind. I have seen the quality of the photobooth pictures look better before & they forgot to include our logo on the strip, but they were still nice and it gave our family & friends something to do besides just drink heavily :)

Brenden Burmeister, through B Kuhl Entertainment, was an absolute essential to making our wedding so memorable. From walking us through what to do for the grand march, talking to our photographer and working out a "photo-bombing" idea for our walk to the head table, giving us a heads-up about upcoming dances, a large array of music, and a superb attitude that is impossible to not have a good time around. He also showed great flexibility when the mother of the groom, at last second, changed the song to the mother-groom dance.

He easily mixed a fun/laid back attitude with professional focus and attention. It is easy to tell that he is passionate about his job in everything he does and I, for one, feel that the DJ business is blessed to have him.

From Mr. & Mrs. Lucas Powelka we would like to thank you Brenden Burmeister for making a great day even better!

Our DJ was Ted, and he did an amazing job. We met initially a couple months before the event and discussed what we wanted our reception to look like, and what kind of music we liked and didn't like. He gave us some paperwork to prepare for our musical taste as well as for a trivia game that was included and that we had done at our reception.

The few times we needed to contact him before the reception, Ted was very responsive and helpful. We had a video and a slideshow that we wanted played after dinner, and he was able to get everything set up and working properly even though we didn't have the slideshow until the day before the wedding.

He arrived early at the venue and had everything ready to go when guests arrived. We had softer music during dinner, and dance music from around 7:45 until Midnight. The music was appropriate, and all of our requests were honored.

One thing he did which I don't recall having seen at a wedding before, which I thought was pretty awesome, was if there was a song that the crowd didn't seem engaged with, and nobody was dancing, he wasn't afraid to fade out and start a new song. He kept the crowd engaged and we had people dancing all night long, even though it was a smaller reception.

We had a few issues with the venue, and Ted took it upon himself to discuss with them to ensure a great experience for our guests. For example, there was loud rap music playing from an adjacent bar, and he asked the management to turn down the bass. He kept his professionalism and made sure everything was perfect for us.

In summary, I would recommend B Kuhl and specifically the DJ Ted wholeheartedly. The music was great, the lighting was great, and our guests all had only good things to say about the reception and the DJ specifically. If you want for you and your guests to have a great time, this is who you want!

Well to start off i had the amazing dj named Teddy, we started planning the details about 4 months ahead of the the wedding day. He was so helpful with advice and open to what ideas i had. I had a song request list on my rsvp invites and he had almost every single song which was awsome!! He cordinated like the whole recption that night, the servers were being really slow with transitions things and he help move it along. We had the dollor dance and anniversery dance and all went very well! My dad and I wanted to do a different dance with different car themed songs and teddy put all of our songs together to make one song and it was perfect, we got lots of good feedback on it. The lights that were set up all over were awsome! Super cool. i would defenitly reccomend B Kuhl Entertainment to those brides out there looking for a great dj :) Thanks Teddy!!

I want to start by saying that I've thought a lot about how to write this review. B Kuhl, as a business, is good. Unfortunately, we didn't get Josh (the owner) as our DJ, & had Ted who was not up to snuff.

8 weeks before my wedding I contacted Josh after the DJ I thought I had booked went AWOL. He gave us an AMAZING deal and let us know that while he had a prior booking on our date, he would be sending one of his other DJs. From everything he said & reviews I'd read all over, I felt 100% confident.

The week of the wedding, Josh met with my fiance & I and we gave him certain info including our Must Play & No Play list. This was in addition to going over a contract again and verifying that we wanted NO line dances or theme dances (hokey pokey, macarena, or similar) played. I LOVED that Josh has this as a box to tick on the contract - though we also detailed this on the No Play list.

We arrived to the cocktail hour to see the DJ, Ted, still setting up in the main dancing area (even though he had presumably been there over an hour). This was weird, I thought, but moved on to cocktails and enjoyed that the right tunes were playing. Before dinner, he apologized that the speakers in the dining area weren't working right and we'd have to have the faintness of music from the dancing area..and then kept working - loudly - on the speakers. The speakers next to OUR PARENTS. Not cool!

Dancing time. We requested a lot of oldies type stuff to begin. He started 3 or 4 songs only to cold drop them partway. Confusing & not fun. Later, 3 songs in.a.row. from our No Play list. 1 was annoying. 2 was angering. The 3rd started & I pointed this out firmly - he got defensive and said he "no they're not". The list was IN FRONT OF HIM. A lot from our Must Play never got played as well. The volume was often loud which upset Mom.

All in all, we had a fun night. Lights were very . But Ted didn't pay attention to our contract OR our lists. :( It could've been great if he had.
B Kuhl Entertainment responded with the following comments:
I've been thinking a while about how to respond to this review, because to be perfectly honest, I think it gives an eschewed perspective on how Ted delivered on his promise to do his best to take care of the bride and groom and their guests on their wedding day.

First of all, it must be known that the venue was the Madison Children's Museum, a facility that is open to the public until 5 pm - Tuesday through Sunday. Ted arrived about three hours early, which is common practice for our DJs.

When Ted proceeded to load in, he was stopped by one of the staff at MCM and told he could not use the elevator to load up his gear to the 2nd floor and rooftop for two separate audio systems until AFTER the museum was closed to the public...at 5 pm. He was not the only vendor stopped from loading in on time due to MCM's policy. As a result, Ted was forced to rush his load in and set up. I can assure anyone reading this that all our DJs give themselves plenty of time to set up and be ready before the first guest walks in the door.

Regarding the comment about the speakers during dinner, Ted had a pair of one-month old QSC K12's, a mobile DJ standard when it comes to sound. The dinner service took place in a small room, and Ted did his best to work with the challenging layout by setting up one speaker and microphone in that room for the dinner hour. I can say that all our DJs respectfully remind the table closest to the speakers that if the music levels ever get uncomfortable, to just let us know and we'll adjust it accordingly. I'm sure Ted followed suit and did just that. I'm sorry to hear that the sound levels nearest to the parents were not to satisfaction, but I'm sure he would have made a change had the issue been brought to his attention.

Going on to the comments about the dance...I believe the "cold drop" that the bride is speaking of is a loose way of describing how Ted was mixing the music being played. Ted, and many of our other DJs including myself, incorporate a more progressive mixing style more akin to the style practiced by experienced club DJs. We've found that not only does it provide more value, as we're able to play more songs by mixing in and out before the end of each song, but it also helps keep the energy level up...thus keeping people on the dance floor. Some view this style of mixing differently, and I can easily see how the bride misinterpreted what he was doing as a "cold drop". It may have also been a case of reacting to the people on the dance floor leaving because they weren't into the song being played...meaning Ted probably tastefully mixed out early in order to get to something that would get a better reaction.

I've spoken to Ted about this wedding a few times now, and each time, the only song he recalls playing that was on their "no play list" was the Cupid Shuffle (and I can corroborate this seeing his playlist history from the evening)...a song that is requested at nearly EVERY wedding that we take care of. The specific song was not listed on the "no play list", but what was written down (which could be what she was referring to) was "no cheesy stuff", which could mean a number of things.

From what I understand, the groom also approached Ted at the end of the night and thanked him for a job well done...a sentiment that many of the remaining guests also seemed to share.

To sum it up, I believe there may have been some hiccups due to constraints put on Ted by the staff at Madison Children's Museum, causing him to have to adapt and change his game plan a bit in order to make everything work...which he did. He kept the music going regardless of the limits of the space used. I'd like to add that the museum isn't really meant for music being played at loud levels. It's my professional opinion that, while it's a unique and fun setting for a wedding, the acoustics are not set up for anything larger than a 50 guest wedding...and even then, a DJ may not be the right fit for the space if they're placed where they had us set up. I also think there was a lack of communication with Ted and myself as to how much freedom she wanted to give to her guests to make requests, and also what her definition of "cheesy" was when it came to the song selections.

I'm 100% confident that Ted did the best he could that night. I'm sure the other reviews about his performance here and elsewhere shed a more realistic light on the dedication and attention to detail that he brings to the table. He is a phenomenal DJ, and outshines me at times...at the very least, he's been doing this a great deal longer than I have. I'm sorry the bride had a bad experience. I think she was unhappy that she wasn't able to have me personally take care of the wedding, even given the fact that she initially went with someone else, only to call us eight weeks out from her wedding date. I don't think that Ted was a sufficient replacement for her, but I know that her experience is not a common one, as I've heard nothing but positive feedback on his past performances.

If you are looking for an amazing DJ service, B Kuhl entertainment is absolutely the best choice. My husband and I had seen Josh at the Watertown Bridal Fair back in 2011, and loved his personality, style, and services. We originally ended up going with a friend of my husband who also is a DJ. Then, all of a sudden, 4 weeks before the wedding, our friend backed out and we were stuck. So I emailed Josh, thinking it was a long shot to see if he would be booked, and literally within 5 minutes, he emailed back saying he did have that day open! He unfortunately had another event that night, but he sent his right hand man Brenden and he was AMAZING! Brenden was there and set up well before our event started, played all the music we wanted (eliminated what we didn't), and was entertaining the entire night. We had so many compliments and many people asked about their info to book them for their own events.

Josh sent everything through email to us to get the ball rolling (since it was such short notice) and was very accomodating to our requests. He is super easy to work with, gets everything back to you in a timely manner, and makes sure you, as a customer, are 100% satisfied. We met with both Brenden and Josh the week before the wedding to finalize all the details and they were very good about all the details. They make up an itinerary for you, have a music SAT to fill out for all of your favorite (and not so fave) music, do not play lists, and tuxedo trivia (which our guests loved!)

I could not say enough nice and amazings things about these guys. They did an incredible job and truly made our wedding a night to remember!

We originally knew Josh from his hosting gigs at trivia nights we attended regularly. He and my husband have similar music tastes, and he does a great job as trivia host. When we looked into a DJ for our wedding, we knew we didn’t want a typical, cheesy wedding DJ, so when we found out that Josh also did weddings, we knew he would be perfect. We had two meetings to go over our musical tastes, which tend to be folksy/indie but are pretty eclectic overall, so we trusted him to incorporate our preferences while still playing songs that would appeal to all of our guests. We had a few do not play songs, which Josh avoided, and he suggested some great songs for some of the “events” during the reception.
We had Josh set up at our ceremony location and our acoustic guitarist plugged into his system to perform. Josh also played songs after the ceremony as people were leaving. He had two separate set-ups at the reception, outdoors for cocktail hour and inside for dinner/dancing.
He worked with our wedding planner to coordinate the timing of all the events, and from my perspective, everything went smoothly. He did a great job introducing everyone at the grand entrance, kept everyone dancing, and was very accommodating when guests requested songs. He provided mics for the speeches and made a few announcements throughout the night. I had such a great time dancing.
There was one bit of miscommunication; Josh had a leaf blower that shot toilet paper over the dance floor, and while it added to the fun of dancing, we didn’t have it approved, and it made a huge mess that our wedding coordinator had to clean up to avoid a fine.
Other than that snafu, we had a great night, and Josh was a huge part of making that happen.

When I met with Josh (the owner) as a recommendation from a friend who had a wedding that B Kuhl Entertainment DJ'd, I was astonished at the value they were offering compared to some of the other DJ companies in town that my wife and I looked into.

As a musician myself I was immediately sold after hearing about the quality of sound equipment and the amount of high level lighting they provided for about half the price as some of the other companies.

Josh also took the time for us to fill out a detailed questionnaire asking about our musical preferences. We also were able to provide a "Do Not Play" list. This process ensured we would hear the music we wanted and to not be fuming after hearing a country song play at our wedding.

We did our wedding at Olin Park in Madison which presented some AV challenges that B Kuhl Entertainment was able to overcome:

1. We wanted to do our wedding by the lake, outside the shelter that the reception was held. B Kuhl was able to run hundreds of feed of cable and seamlessly provide great sound for entrance/exit music, our minister and our musical guest.
2. The shelter at Olin Park has drab white walls that needed something to spruce them up. B Kuhl provided up lighting that lit up the room in the color of our choice which made for a WOW factor to everyone who entered.

As for the reception itself, the sound quality and lighting aspect where the best I've ever seen at a wedding (I'm glad it was my wedding). Josh & Brenden were able to keep a ton of people on the dance floor all night. There was never a time where you saw less than 20 people dancing.

To sum it up, we continue to have people talk about two aspects of our wedding months later. 1. The excellent pig roast from Porktropolis 2. The amazing DJ. This says a lot because all aspects of our wedding were perfect.

I chose B Kuhl Entertainment for my wedding DJ because the cost was very reasonable and I had heard good things from other brides. He was very friendly as we met with him a few days before the wedding and went over how everything was going to go, he really put my mind at ease. The day of the wedding Josh came up to us and talked about what we were going to do next and gave us a time frame- he kept things moving! He was also a personal bartender to the head table- nice touch- refilling drinks for all of us! Everyone really enjoyed his sevice and I had many compliments from guests saying how great he was and he was fun and kept the crowd going!

We were very happy with B Kuhl as our wedding DJ. Although his assistant could not make it at the last minute, he was able to pull off the music and MC-ing without a hitch. He was able to play our requests and mix in other songs that we liked. His lighting and sound equipment were great - many guests mentioned how impressed they were with the lights and sound.

Josh was our DJ that we hired to do our wedding this past summer. We found him through a Wedding show that we attended at Evergreen Golf Course. He did a awesome job meeting with us getting to know our music needs and how we wanted our wedding reception to flow. After the reception we heard nothing but amazing responses from our guest and loved the music he played; that kept everyone on the dance floor the entire time. I would highly recommend Josh for any occasion but he seems to really shine in the wedding atmosphere. We also booked our photo booth through him as well and got a discount for the pairing. I would also recommend booking him as well. He had tons of props to take great pictures with and the picture book that they gave us at the end of the night was awesome.

We met these guys at a local bridal show last year and decided to take a chance on them. We weren't sure what to expect from a newer company, but we immediately clicked with Josh's personality. He was very genuine in his eagerness to help my wife and I plan out our whole wedding day and really seemed to know what he was doing. Once our wedding day came closer, we met with Josh again for a final meeting to finish the planning process. He was very quick to get back to us and when we did meet he was very thorough. Once the day came, Josh was confident and clear on the microphone and pretty much played wedding coordinator, emcee, and bartender (he was getting drinks for the wedding party during dinner) all while keeping the energy going. During the dance, he played a great mix of what Jenny and I wanted to hear as well as taking care of our guests. We heard a LOT of compliments at the end of the night and even the next day. My wife and I would highly recommend B Kuhl to any of our friends and family getting married in the future.

This is a great DJ company to have for your wedding. They really try to focus on what the bride and groom want, not the typical playlist you hear at every wedding you've ever been to (unless that's what the bride and groom want!). They have new and fun ideas and are great to work with! They are very professional, have great equipment, a lot of variety to offer, and are quite reasonably priced. I was very pleased!

The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars across the board, is it was a little confusing figuring out who was actualling DJing the wedding. At first, it was an another DJ working with Josh, then it was going to be Josh himself, then at the final consultation it ended up being a different DJ than the first one or Josh, Ted. Don't get me wrong - Ted was VERY professional and did a great job, but it would have been nice to know up front for any ideas, changes, etc that had to be communicated. But that's a minor issue and everything turned out wonderfully regardless!
