My mom hates wedding cake, but she loved Kay Bakery. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's one of the oldest bakeries in Memphis and the cake was delicious. Everyone kept telling me how good it was. I ranked them a 3/5 for quality though because they messed up the layers and instead of doing vanilla where we supposed to cut, they did chocolate (we had alternating chocolate and vanilla). So be sure to go over with them multiple times! They will also give you a discount if you get your groom's cake from them. We did a full sheet cake and it was $40. They do whipped and butter creme. I took some leftover cake to a party a week after the wedding that had been frozen. Everyone loved it!

The colors of my wedding were metallic gold, red roses, champange, and ivory. My husband and I went to Kays bakery to show them a picture of how we wanted our cake. We wanted an ivory icing with metallic gold icing designs. I also brought in 2 dozen long stem fresh roses to be placed stem down in the cake. When the cake arrived it was white icing (not ivory) yellow designs (not gold) and the roses were just laying in the cake (not stem down in the cake). Since we did show them a picture of the cake and the told us they could accomidate us that is why I was so upset. I could have changed the gold if they would have told me they could not do it. I had four other options we were interested in. When my husband went back to the store after our wedding they did nothing to compesate or try to make things right. They were very defensive. I would not recommend this bakery!

Great customer service. will work with you to help you find exactly what you want. Color matches, themes, etc. They are very flexible and accurate. Only need about 3 weeks in advance. Contact for their email address and you can send a picture or deion of exactly what you want done.
Cake itself was very tasty and complimented many times.
