I received my wedding cake from the Hy-Vee on Barry Rd (or St Clair). The cake itself was fabulous! We met with them twice, then to place the order I spoke with one of the bakers who was very rude, claiming she didn't have any of our cake information, but after digging, finally found it, with no apology. A week after placing my order, I was a little concerned when after calling and providing credit card information to pay for the cake and flowers on it (we used a seperate florist for all of our flowers, aside from the ones on the cake), they called wondering if I could pay for the cake. After looking, they found the cc information and got everything taken care of.

When the cake arrived, it was not the color we discussed, and the flowers weren't placed in the correct areas. Luckily, I have a fabulous mother and MIL, who fixed the flowers with no problem!

Overall a great tasting cake, but not so great customer service!!

We also planned on renting a chocolate fountain from this same HyVee, but ended up using the new Hy-Vee on 64th street instead. When I went in for my second visit with the Barry Rd Hy-Vee, I tried talking to the catering manager, Garren, regarding a chocolate fountain. He wasn't in that day, so they took my name and number, as well as gave me his contact information, in case he didn't call me. I called two days later, after hearing nothing, and was told he wasn't in, again leaving my contact information. I called back two days later, and was told he was too busy to talk on the phone, and again gave my same contact information. I called one week after my original inquiry, and was told by another employee that I needed to take my money elsewhere, because he wasn't in the office, and didn't have time to work with me. VERY DISAPPOINTED! I called the new 64th St Hy-Vee, and they were super excited to work with me, and got it all taken care of over the phone on the first phone call! If it wasn't so close to my wedding, I would have switched my cake over to the 64th St. HyVee! I will not be doing business with the Barry Rd. Hyvee, and will make sure to tell everyone what my issues were!!

We got our wedding cake from HyVee on N. St. Clair Avenue and worked with their head caterer Garen Shorten. I was making arrangements from out-of-state and HyVee and Garen really went out of their way to work with me via email. They responded promptly and thoroughly every time. I sent Garen a photograph of the cake I wanted and that was the EXACT cake I got on my wedding day. The cake was beautiful and the guests couldn't stop talking about how delicious it was. I was very happy that I got my cake through HyVee!

We were very pleased with the cake we got from the Hyvee in Prarie Village. The people we worked with were very receptive to our ideas and had great suggestions for us! They even indulged our ideas on the grooms cake which turned our great!

The food was great and fresh! We had many compliments.

When I placed the order for my cake I was wondering if they could pull off the cake that was in the picture I had gotten off of the internet. When my cake came in on my wedding day I cried tears of joy. It looked almost exactly like the one in the photo. I could not believe that that was my cake!!! They made sure to get my order correct and I did not have to spend a whole lot of money for the cake they had made me. I was so happy.

We loved our cake!! So much that we devoured the portion we were supposed to save. The people were wonderful and willing to do whatever you needed. Amber was our cake person and she was great! Our cake fed 200 guests with plenty to spare.

I had a major flower crisis 4 days before my wedding and needed help fast. I went to Hy-Vee and immediately I was helped by a lovely lady named Becky. I gave her an idea of what I wanted for my Bridesmaids' bouquets, my bouquet, mothers' and grandmothers' corsages and table decorations. She nailed it! What a relief.

We used the HyVee on St. Clair Avenue, in the Kansas City northland. Garen Shorten is the head caterer there. Our guests can't stop talking about the food and how wonderful it was. (It's been two weeks.) They can't believe that HyVee did it. Everything was delicious... and when we told them it was HyVee, their jaws dropped. I'm glad we ended up ordering too much food... because everyone kept going back for more... they couldn't get enough. I can't say enough wonderful things about Garen and his team of caterers. They truly made my reception wonderful.
