Our wedding was absolutely perfect and I'd say most of that credit goes to the staff at Whitehall.

This was the first venue we visited, and I fell completely in love with the grounds the moment we pulled up. We visited four other venues in Maryland and Virginia after Whitehall, but none of them compared to that feeling we got there.

While there are so many amazing things about Whitehall - the grounds, the historic home, the large windows in the reception room, the barns for photos - one of the best things was having a contact there who I felt like I could really trust. Douglas definitely knows how to plan for a great event, and we were very happy selecting vendors from his recommended list. There was never a moment I felt really stressed because I knew I could rely on Douglas and his expertise. Everything was always organized and under control.

Now on to the staff that was there for the actual wedding. The service was way beyond anything we expected! I didn't know that we would have sandwiches and drinks available in the bridal suite while we got ready. Nor did I expect the staff to come out during cocktail hour with drinks and appetizers as we took photos. I was so happy to get a chance to sample everything I knew the guests were enjoying. Once inside, our wine and water glasses were always full, and we felt truly taken care of by the Whitehall staff. Our guests felt the same way.

As for the food, I was pleased with everything that came out. I'll admit that I was not thrilled with the food tasting and my expectations were not that high for the meals afterwards. Thankfully everything was much better on our wedding day and we got many compliments on the selection. Especially the bacon wrapped scallops and crab dip served during cocktail hour.

When looking at venues, it's hard to get over the initial sticker shock. But we think the quality of service at Whitehall and access to such a beautiful venue was worth every single penny.

My daughter's wedding was held at the Manor, and we were hoping for nice weather, but that wasn't the case. Douglas's team had chairs set up, tables moved and the ceremony ready to go in no time at all. Everything was lovely, from the tables settings to the arrangement of tables, etc. The food was fabulous, and the servers and wait staff could not have been more accommodating. I would highly recommend the Whitehall Manor for a wedding, anniversary party or just a wonderful blow-out! Truly exceptional service and we are so glad to have chosen this venue.

We had a beautiful wedding here. Douglas would always respond within 24 hours of my emails, answering any questions I had or clarifying any details. He was flexible and accommodating. On the wedding day, all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. My bridesmaids and I received a tray of assorted drinks and cheeses as we prepared for the ceremony. (The groom and groomsmen also received refreshments). We had many compliments from our guests concerning how smoothly the event went as well as how delicious the food was. I cannot wait to see our photos as our wedding photographer had a field day with us and the outdoor scenery. Overall it was a magical time and I highly recommend this venue.

Not only a beautiful place, but great food, and excellent service from planning to the actual wedding! Everything ran smoothly without a hitch. All of our guests were pleased and impressed over the quality of everything. And we had a great time!

Whitehall Manor did a 5 star job for my wedding. My guest raved how wonderful the food, staff, and scenery was at Whitehall. Doug was extremely helpful during the whole process, responded to emails so quick and answered all my questions. The wait staff was amazing! My guests raved how friendly and how attentive the staff was. I was blown away with Whitehall, it exceeded my expectations for my wedding. It was the BEST place for a wedding ceremony and reception venue!

It's taken me a while to fully take in how absolutely perfect my wedding was at Whitehall Manor and because of it's staff and owners. I originally wanted to write a really long review (yes longer than this) to express our sentiments regarding the superb experience we had. But then I decided, I will keep it short so all of you read all the important points.

1) I have been to 5 star hotel weddings all my life
2) I'm also a wedding vendor (Sofreh Atelier is the name of my company) and typically work in these high end hotels and venues.

For my own wedding, I envisioned the same service but with the experience of nature and a rustic beautiful setting with all the amenities of a high end venue. At first I was nervous that since it was privately owned, the service or food may not be as good. But having sat down with Doug (the owner) and the head chef, reading the reviews and visiting the manor, my heart told me this is what I was looking for.

In short, the service, treatment, owner and staff at whitehall were better than any high end venue. Doug is always there to answer any and all of your questions and is so accommodating you feel like you are the only one he's dealing with! He is so warm and cares so much about his business and property... each time we visited (and it was many times), he was doing something new to upkeep the property.

Our food tasting went great and they accommodated all our requests to personalize the menu for us. After that, I was so excited and had no doubt our wedding would be phenomenal.

But even then, on our wedding day, the staff, the service, the food went above and beyond what we expected. The staff on that day were so accommodating... they made our day run smooth and it felt magical. There was only one thing to do... smile from within and look at the rolling hills around you and think to yourself "this dream come true" is my wedding!

From the moment we visited the manor, we knew it was where we were getting married. They have everything we needed to throw a great celebration. When you first arrive, they have some appetizers for you to try and allow you to walk the property so you can see all it has to offer. We worked with Douglas for all the planning and he was fantastic. Even with him being extremely busy and having to remember numerous wedding details for each couple, he was so quick to respond to our questions and help us with the logistics along the way. He was also very accommodating because we wanted to have an area for yard games during cocktail hour and it was no problem. He has a great working relationship with many area vendors and because of that we found some great people to work with for all our needs. One of the major perks of the venue was our ability to bring our own alcohol, which really helped with our budget. The bartenders have a heavy hand, which was greatly appreciated by our family and friends.

The best things about Whitehall (besides the location and beauty) was the staff and the food. The staff did an amazing job setting up and making sure things ran smoothly. Francisco, the captain, ensured all the details were taken care of and was there for everything we needed. He even helped fix our cake so that it was exactly the way we wanted it. He also made sure there were appetizers saved for us and had memorized our very detailed timeline so that we were never behind schedule. They even made sure to bring us food and drinks while we were waiting for the ceremony to start and again during our post-ceremony photos.

The food was amazing. We had a plated dinner and guests chose either filet, crab cake, chicken picatta, or a vegetable wellington. The filets were cooked perfectly and the crab cakes were all crab with very little filler so you're getting your moneys worth. All the guests we spoke to said it was one of the best dinners they've had. Whitehall truly is amazing!

I don't have enough words to thank Doug, Jose, Francisco, and the entire Whitehall team. The venue is, of course, absolutely gorgeous, but what really puts it over the top is the people that manage it. Doug was our initial contact at the venue, and walked us through the planning from start to finish. He was, in a word, wonderful. Totally responsive, always available (he answered an email we sent on Thanksgiving! 10 months before our actual wedding date!!!!), incredibly patient with my use of vendors Whitehall doesn't usually deal with (my band and photographer both flew in from other cities), full of helpful advice, and just an absolute joy to work with. Jose, our chef, went out of his way to create a beautiful menu for our half-Dominican wedding, which my entire family raved about (they said the chicken croquettes, which Jose created especially for the occasion, should just be offered at every wedding, because they were ridiculously good), and handled two custom cocktails perfectly (my picky, heavy-drinking family and friends loved them). Francisco, our night-of captain, became BFF with my parents, and also received rave reviews from everyone and an extra tip from my normally very stingy father ;). My wedding involved a LOT of moving parts that had to be perfectly timed (passed favors at a specific time, special entertainers, a video projection), and it all went off without a hitch thanks to Whitehall. Francisco was also flexible enough to help my family try to figure out how to fit all of our left-over supplies into the available cars, which I think went beyond the call of duty. The only wrinkle was I think our guests were a bit disappointed that there was no "last call" (they just stop serving alcohol 30 minutes before the end of the contracted time without any announcement), but that's in the contract, and I probably should just have made that clearer to our guests.

From the moment we visited Whitehall I knew there was no other place I wanted to be married. It is stunning and all of our guests were blown away by Whitehall and the surrounding area on our wedding day! But what truly makes Whitehall amazing is the staff, especially Doug. He was so great to work with- extremely responsive to emails and phone calls (I usually received a response within a couple of hours!), kind, considerate, and willing to accomodate our wishes and needs! When we weren't impressed with the appetizers that we tasted during the group tasting, Doug invited us to come back and redo the appetizer tasting. It truly made a world of difference to have someone who geniunely cares about the quality of service they provide. Also, Whitehall recommended the BEST vendors, and we followed their suggestions for the florist and the photographer. We were blown away with the whole experience!

The professionalism, the food, the staff, the accomodations, the venue, the scenery. It was just perfect. Period. From start to finish. The stuck with us throughout the entire year we were engaged, and really gave us the flexibility to have our day exactly how we wanted it. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

Whitehall was such an amazing place to have our wedding. We really wanted something with some character and history verse a hotel wedding. Whitehall fit the bill perfectly and since we did not have a wedding planner, it was perfect for us since food/linens/etc are included. Working with Doug was awesome and everyone went above and beyond on our wedding day to make it everything we dreamed of. Our wedding day was cloudy and raining on and off, so they actually set up both spaces and allowed us to make a "game time decision" which was nice...I feel like most venues would have made us choose and get things set up one way or the other. The food was delicious and our event captain made sure we were having fun and keeping on schedule. There are a lot of nice places in the DC area to get married, but I think Whitehall is pretty hard to top.

My daughter and our son in law could not have asked for a more perfect wedding. Douglas at Whitehall was a pleasure to work with. He answered my hundreds of emails promptly and professionally. The food was wonderful and his staff went above and beyond for us. The estate of course was beautiful in every way. Thank you Douglas for making my daughter 's wedding day perfect.

Working with Whitehall was amazing!!! At first, I thought they were a bit expensive, but when my husband and I priced out the cost of food, staff, and all rentals, Whitehall actually came under most other places. We did get married on a Friday to save some money. Doug was so helpful the entire way, answering all of my emails within 24 hours.
Our original plan was to have the ceremony outside in front of the gazebo, but torrential downpours forced us inside (tornadoes actually touched down in some places!). Doug told me I had until 5pm (for a 6pm ceremony) to make the final call. We ended up having the ceremony inside the reception space, in front of glass double-doors facing the side lawn. The staff at Whitehall quickly re-set the entire room for the ceremony with no problems. Many people told me that the inside was so beautiful, they thought that was the original plan! We didn't have any flowers (besides the centerpieces on the dinner tables) for inside, but there are so many windows, you don't really need them.
We had 98 guests (including ourselves) and there was plenty of room for everyone. I think if we had more guests, it may have been a bit tight, especially since we couldn't utilize the outside spaces.
We got lots of compliments on the food as well. We served filet and chicken, and everyone said it was delicious! The service by the staff was impeccable.
I highly recommend booking Whitehall!!!!! They were an absolute pleasure to work with!!!

Just got married this past Sunday and I have to say, our Whitehall experience was phenomenal!!

The coordinator: Doug, the venue coordinator, is AMAZING - he's personable, professional and so easy-going about unique requests. Throughout the planning process, he was always responsive and so nice and willing to answer any questions at any point in time.

The venue: I truly feel that my wedding day was perfect! The venue is GORGEOUS - the perfect setting with rolling hills and mountains in the distance! We were lucky to have nice weather, but Whitehall has a great rain plan... which is comforting to have as a Plan B. The manor house is so nice and clean, well-maintained, and is a lovely combination of historic and modern. The ballroom is impressive, spacious and inviting. Nothing but rave reviews from guests!

The caterers: The caterers were so attentive and went above and beyond to make the day run smoothly. Everything was handled so kindly and professionally. Such wonderful people!

The food/beverages: Absolutely delicious! Beautiful presentation and memorable appetizers and entrees! Whitehall gives you the option to bring in outside alcohol (with no corking fee) which is awesome and a budget saver.

Whitehall exceeded our expectations in every way and I would HIGHLY recommend this venue for any bride-to-be :) Our guests have been talking non-stop about how great of a time they had at our wedding and we owe so much of that to Whitehall.

We looked at a number of historic venues but ultimately picked Whitehall largely in part because there were no negative reviews on Wedding Wire. There's a lot to be said for a stress-free wedding day and this location is a perfect place to pick if that's your goal. My mother was my wedding organizer for the day and she had nothing but good things to say about the head of the staff. Every request she made was met promptly, efficiently, and politely. The staff will bend over backwards to do everything they can to make your day hassle-free. I was particularly touched by their willingness to incorporate my yellow ribbon into the place settings and hand-tie 150 napkins. They also did their best to use serving dishes that matched my color scheme during the cocktail hour which was very sweet. Douglas is a great person to work with. He tries to help you out whenever possible and is always happy to answer questions.
As an added bonus to a stress-free day, Whitehall is a gorgeous location! There are rolling hills on every side and lots of different options for an outdoor ceremony. The pictures of just the two of us or the ones of my dad and I walking from the house to the aisle are so serene with green everywhere (and it wasn't even sunny that day). Inside the manor the main reception space has so many windows that you almost feel like you're outside (without having to deal with bugs). The rest of the main floor of the manor is open to guests and we put a lot of little personal touches around the place. There is also changing space for both the girls and the boys (which is nice because then they boys don't rumple their tuxes).
All in all, I feel like we were able to have the perfect wedding day at Whitehall and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

The beauty of this venue is what made our wedding so special. We fell in love with Whitehall Manor the minute we saw it, and even though it was a bit expensive, it really was worth every penny. The staff there was SO professional, responsive, and on top of the details. We couldn't have hoped for a better experience.
