A Grey Soiree is a wonderful event planning and paperie establishment! We had the absolute pleasure of collaborating with owner, Jackie, for our wedding in Southern Connecticut, May 2014.

In less one year my (now) husband and I became engaged, moved from Connecticut to Washington, D.C., took over a small business and planned our wedding with Jackie (some 350 miles away in CT)!
I am incredible happy for the services Jackie and A Grey Soiree provided. We had just over 7 months to plan our amazing day. Jackie was organized, creative, and flexible. She was able to help us stay within our budget with vendor selection and added details.

Unitization of Pinterest Boards; what a great idea! Behind a private board Jackie and I were able to pin, share, and comment on Pins to one another. This was extremely helpful with our floral design and invitations. A Grey Soiree offers paperie and of course created our paper products (invitations, menus, ceremony programs, table numbers, thank you, gift and guest book signs, ect).

The day of implementation was one us subject my husband wanted to make sure was under control. The last thing he wanted was our special moments with family and friends to be interrupted with questions of, “where would you like this?” or “when would you like to change the music to…”. From our discussions the month, week, and days before our wedding Jackie knew the answers to these scenarios and lead our vendors to the solutions.

Over all it was an enjoyable planning process and I am looking forward to our next event to plan with A Grey Soiree!

We hired Jackie to help with my daughters wedding planning because of the venue and how much would have to be done by us. It was held at beautiful Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven.
It is a gorgeous venue that comes to light with your vision. Jackie helped with a ton of suggestions. She has so many ideas and on the day of the wedding is there to make sure everything is set up and goes as planned. She is flexible and easy going. If you are looking for a wedding planner you can't go wrong.

As I see it, Jackie and her staff at A Grey Soiree were the biggest waste of money due to all the problems they caused for our wedding. We’re not only out the customized price of their “coordination services”, but also out of money from all the décor items they decided not to set up and leave unopened in bins, the décor items like expensive crystal and sequin table clothes that were incorrectly used, rental items that didn’t get used like the cocktail tables, the corsages from the florist that that were misplaced, my wedding bouquet that managed to not get collected/thrown out at the end of the night, etc.

Jackie started freaking out the day of the rehearsal because she didn’t bother to coordinate with the florist, and somehow thought it was okay to put the fault on the florist and I for not doing her job. I was the one to try to calm Jackie down – me, as the bride, should NOT have to calm down my day of coordinator.

Any wedding planner should eat, sleep, and breathe grace and professionalism in his or her actions and execution; however, I feel that Jackie and A Grey Soiree were far from exhibiting any sort of professional qualities the day before and the day of our wedding. I wish I had never hired them and felt our wedding day was ruined because of them.

In my opinion, hiring A Grey Soiree for our wedding is something I wholeheartedly regret. I felt the lead planner, Jackie, and her team were very unprofessional and the reason my wife and I could not enjoy our wedding.

As the groom, I should have done nothing but showed up and gotten married that day. Unfortunately, this was not the case because of A Grey Soiree. I kindly offered to stay on the phone with Jackie to walk her through anything she needed to since she didn’t want a meeting to review all the details beforehand and was feeling overwhelmed (at not fault but her own).

During that time, she kept complaining about her recent pregnancy and inability to do tasks we hired her for, insisted she couldn’t do anything until the reception table clothes arrived (she was the one who coordinated the time with the caterer, not us), and then continued to yell and talk over me when I was trying to work with her.

Once I got to the venue, I was stuck completing tasks that we hired her and her team to do all while in a Snoopy t-shirt, unable to shower, unable to gel my hair, etc. on the biggest day of my life.

I’m happily married and have a marriage as beautiful and joyful as our relationship, but it is a shame that our wedding day was ruined because of A Grey Soiree. My wife and I should’ve been happily sharing our first dance together talking about how much we love each other; instead, we were complaining about Jackie the entire time and how stressed out we were. I would not recommend this business.
