I had my reception at Doral and The team i had was phenomenal!!!

I'm actually the mother of the bride, but joined wedding wire specifically to write reviews of our vendors, all of whom were incredible. Our families live all across the globe, so we needed a wedding venue that could "do it all". The Doral staff exceeded expectations in every regard. Our guests raved about their hotel rooms, the resort service, golf, spa, pool and of course, the food. Every member of the Doral staff - from the valets, to front desk, to servers and housekeepers made us all feel like VIPs. Several of our guests described the weekend as a "living fairy tale"

We hosted a "wedding eve" BBQ by the pool, a cocktail reception, the wedding reception and a farewell breakfast at Doral. Every single event was flawless. Senior Event Manager Alexina Beauperthuy was a joy to work with, always responsive to my many emails and phone calls with changes and special requests. Absolutely nothing was ever a problem, and every minute detail was managed with absolute perfection. The attention to detail by Alexina and the whole Doral staff allowed all of us - including me and my daughter- to relax and enjoy our events. The Doral staff also helped us find other vendors - DJ, transportation, photographer, florist, lighting and decor. Every vendor was of the same caliber as Doral, making our weekend completely stress free.

We looked at many, many places in Miami and absolutely could not have made a better choice. Doral was a great value, too - far less expensive than many other locations.

Our sincerest thanks to the staff at Doral for creating a once-in a lifetime memeory for our entire family.

I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a venue. We had our ceremony outside and our reception indoors and there are so many beautiful places to choose from! Not to mention the grounds are amazing and there are TONS of places to take photos!

Mainly, however, I would say that the best part about this place is the service. From the time we met with the catering team all the way until we were handed to a banquet manager, the service was flawless... they will treat you like gold! Even with a thunderstorm just a few hours prior to our ceremony, the staff managed to stay on top of what was going on and pulled off our outdoor ceremony once it cleared... all of the seats were dry and one of the managers even carried my train around before the ceremony since there were a couple of puddles. For the reception we moved into the main clubhouse and the room was beautiful! The food was delicious and served promptly and we had a lot of compliments on it... and it's a myth that the bride and groom don't get to eat because we had staff constantly making sure that we were fed (although you get ot try the food, too, during your tasting, which is also a wonderful experience!). Also, because it is a hotel, you can ask for group room rates and your guests can stay right there on property, which worked out wonderfully for us! The guest rooms are not in the same building as the reception rooms so there is no need to worry about hotel guests milling about.

I am the third daughter in my family to get married, so my parents are very familiar with the process. My mother told me a week after the wedding that she enjoyed ours the most because the staff took such great care of everything and she had nothing to worry about... it was all taken care of before she could even stress about it! That speaks volumes and it will certainly make your wedding day beautiful and stress free!

All the staff was so polite, friendly and knowledgeable. I assisted the bride with the panning and really enjoyed working with the Doral Resort. Everybody loved the food and service!!! I will definitely go back to the hotel to do more events!

My wedding reception at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa was flawless. Everything from the food, the service, and friendly team that worked with us truly made my wedding reception a dream come true. They had everything under control and my family and I didn't have to worry about a thing. It was much more than I ever expected!!

The Doral Golf Resort & Spa, met and exceeded all of my expectations for my wedding day and looking back I could not be happier with the choice to have my reception there. From the first time my husband and I met with the catering sales person to the follow up after the big day from the wedding event coordinator. Throughout the planning process my event planner was always available and responsive to the thousands of questions and requests I had. The big day I felt like royalty, I was constantly being attended to, but not in an evasive manner - every need and request was catered to.
I highly recommend the Doral and couldn't be happier with the experience I had.

We had a wonderful experience at the Doral for our wedding reception; event sales and planning experience/staff was excellent, flexible and patient with our needs and requests. Staff worked well with other vendors. Event staff was friendly and professional. Food was very good. The venue is great and beautiful. We took many pictures around the grounds that will be memorable. Our spa suites before and after the event were wonderful with beautiful vistas. Our out-of-town guests were pleased and liked the hotel. We recommend you make sure your event manager stays through to the end of the reception to catch any issues that might arise. We highly recommend the Doral Resort for a wedding; we loved it!

Introduction:
With the pleasure in working with Bill Hamlin, the senior event manager at Doral Golf and Resort, for our May 2009 wedding reception. After the initial contact and contract work with the wonderful and flexible sales manager, Josie Azar, we were referred to Bill. Extremely accommodating and making you feel you are always his number one priority. Always available, quick to reply either by phone or email. Any request was always taken seriously and he tried his best to get it done. If something wasn't available, he kept trying 'till the last moment to get it done. He even saved us some money.

The Doral is not a hot spot for wedding but the grounds are beautiful for pictures!!! It was a gorgeous day and we were very lucky. The spa is a great and private area to get pictures. Bill got us Spa suites (T suite for groom for day of and Master suite for two nights for the bride). These are very hard to come by and expensive!! He tried very hard to get the T suite which accommodated the groom's family the night of.

Reception Room:
We used the Palms North room with nicely accommodates 100 (we had about 90) with a head table for our parents. Center dance floor and 8-10 person rounds. DJ off against the side wall opposite the bar. Cocktail tables in the back along with favor table. Worked our very well. Bill uses computerized generated maps of the room for planning. We used a separate linens service for chair cover and table overlay instead of all white which is included.

Food:
We did only fish and chicken to save money. We had our tasting in November we ended up changing a few things, which they accommodated. The food was served promptly however we heard reports of some people not getting a salad or cake. The staff was attentive and somewhat too eager to clear your plate, especially if you dancing. That is what makes it a 4/5 in quality of service.

Cost:
The contracted minimum was 15,000 which equated to 21,300 after tax and tip. Bill negotiated with management to bring it down a little. It is somewhat more expensive that a lot of other venues but you get alot more! You get the whole ambiance of the resort. No busy traffic streets or families coming from the pool. Palms North is not in a lodge/spa so you don't have all that interaction. In the day, you have all the golfers. We had our cocktail at 8-9pm so it worked out nicely.

Overall, a hidden gem with alot to offer. Not to be overlooked in your venue search!!!

I had the most beautiful wedding experience at The Doral Golf Resort & Spa. The staff goes out of their way to make your wedding day visions come to life, through their one of a kind venue space, exceptional service, and most of all making you feel like your a part of their family. I highly recommend this venue to any bride and groom or company to hold your most perfect event. They truly make your experience one you will never forget.

Though our actual wedding day at the Doral Golf Resort went off perfectly, the months and days leading up to our wedding were not pleasant. The resort is a gorgeous property with nice rooms, but very poor management. Our main problem was with the event manager that the hotel assigned us, Alexina Beauperthuy. She is by far one of the people with the worst communication skills that I have ever dealt with in any customer service setting. From the very beginning she was rude, defensive, and it was an nightmare talking or dealing with her for every single request. Any email or question we had was answered rudely and defensively as if she was a five year old on trial, when we were simply asking questions. On top of that she also displayed incompetence when dealing with many issues. Granted our wedding was very complicated since it had two ceremonies and various events, but it was the way she dealt with mistakes and issues that was the main problem. Problems came to a head when two months before the wedding, I attempted to have a discussion with her on the phone and I could not get a word in. She simply yelled the whole time. After that, I spoke to her manager, who apologized, but nonetheless her behavior never changed. Even the day before our wedding was nightmare, given that our reservations and complimentary bridal party rooms weren't made correctly. In addition Our bridal party room (the one room i needed) wasn't ready until 6 pm on Friday. We had called three times at 11 am asking if the room was going to be ready, and they said yes it would. We showed up at 2pm and nothing was ready, and they didnt offer us another room. We put our stuff in the groom's room, got ready for the rehearsal dinner, and had to transfer all our stuff from the groom's room to the bridal party room at 11pm that night. Her attitude when I tried dealing with this was horrible, and because of this we ended up being extremely late to our rehearsal dinner. Other than her, most things were fine. One exception was the in room food service. Both my fiance and I (who were in separate rooms before our wedding day) ordered breakfast for our wedding day to be delivered as we were getting ready. He put the tag outside his door with his order well before midnight the previous day, and never got his breakfast. They never took the tag, and it was only because he woke up extra early that he found the mistake and called to order in. I called for breakfast that morning, and they got it wrong. I ordered one dish: the continental (no changes or anything), and they gave me something else. This is while staying in the supposedly better spa suites.
As I said, the execution on the day of was flawless for the wedding, but I would stay clear from Alexina. Anyone in my family who dealt with her is in complete agreement.
One more note: they never asked us for feedback on our event or stay. Our wedding had 360 people, four events, and over 50 rooms booked). Not sure if they want to improve or not.
