I went looking for someone to help me create my own version of the Badgely Mischka Lauren dress from a few seasons back. After quite a bit of research I decided upon Custom Couture Bridal. The service is very unique for brides who do not want another common wedding dress. Let me share with you a few thoughts that will help you better determine if this is a route you want to go.
First it is exhilarating to know that a dress is being custom made for YOU. You get to tell people that, see the sketch, provide feedback etc. This is very fun.
However during the 16 weeks your dress is being made (after you send your measurements) you feel a bit in the dark. I reached out a couple of times by email about 10 weeks in and did get responses but only things like "we are on track." By the time I did get pictures it was very close to the wedding and the beading was off. When I said that the beading was off, they used clear beading in places where the inspiration dress used rhinestones.
They did add more beading when I asked them too but we were getting so close to the wedding that I told them to just send it. When I got the dress I was excited at first then mixed feelings set in. The dress fabric and cut was exquisite but the beading was just not as sparkly as I was hoping for and there was not the boning inside the the sketch had called for so I had to launch into a plan B. I went to a great tailor near me and she opened the dress up to put boning in (made a HUGE difference) and then we ordered wholesale rhinestones and she glued on about 1400 more. The dress finally looked as I had hoped. Cost me $1800 through Custom Couture and another $500 between the alterations and extra stoning but I got what I wanted.
So hopefully this helps other brides decide whether or not this is the right path for them. If I would do it all over again I would, but I would just have insisted on pictures early on in the process, not the week of shipment. You have to have a bit of an appetite for risk if you go this route but you will get a custom creation that no one else has.
Custom Couture Bridal is an absolutely amazing service. Christianne was a pleasure to work with, and checked in with updates and questions along the way. When the dress came, it was wrapped up beautifully and included a hand written note from Christianne. I put on the dress and it fit like a dream. It was everything I could have imagined plus more for my wedding dress! You can tell that Christianne and her team put so much love and care into the dress, which made it feel even more special. On the day, I was so excited to put the dress on, and even more happy that I had designed my own dress, rather than bought one off a rack. Being a Fashion Designer, I wanted the dress to feel personal and to suit my personal taste and style, which it did magnificently. I could not be more thrilled that I had my dress made with Custom Couture Bridal and would highly recommend them to any bride for their special day.
If you have any doubts about Christianne Brunelle, DON'T!! She will do everything in her power to make your dress exactly the way you want it!! I live in Louisiana so i was very hesitant to order my dress from Canada, but it turned out better than i had ever thought it would. I loved it.. I didn't want to take it off after the wedding was over. Me and my mother actually added crystals to it to make it really POP, but we love blingy/flashy stuff!! My dress was actually a Pnina Tornai replica, she did have to change a few things about the dress so it wasn't exactly the same but honestly i think it looked better than the original!! I absolutely LOVED it!!! Don't doubt her she will do great!
I used Custom Couture Bridal for my wedding dress. I had designed my dress on my own, but had a lot of trouble finding a store or boutique that made custom wedding dresses. I found Custom Couture through a Google search. I contacted Christianne Brunelle and we got to work right away. I filled out a form detailing what I wanted and added pictures of different dress styles that I wanted to incorporate. Then we set up a meeting time, talked over the phone, and discussed in more detail exactly what I wanted. Within a few days, Christianne emailed me a sketch of my dress. I was able to critique the design and make changes. Christianne sent me to updates the next day! After I debated/stressed for a few months about if I really wanted to buy my dress without ever trying it on, I decided to go for it! I had my measurements taken by a seamstress and sent them to Christianne. I put my deposit down and the process started! Christianne sent updates along the way (emails and pictures). And within a few months (even during wedding season) my dress was done and on its way! I was delighted with the end result! The bust was a little big, but I did the measurements so I cannot exactly blame Custom Couture.
Overall, this was an amazing experience and it was really impressive to tell people that I designed my own wedding dress!
I was very hesitant and a little scared about having my dress custom made so far away....but in the end I am soooo happy that I did it and would have likely done the same thing again*^_^* She did a super job and completed the dress within the time that was decided by our contract and the quality was awesome... There were only a few things that were fixed by another seamstress (she removed the zipper and put the corset all the way down and she also adjusted the lace of the skirt and bustled it for me*^_^*) the quality of the dress was superb I would post a pic if I could *^_^* ...all the lace was hand-sewn and same with the sequins crystals *^^*
I was able to design my own dress, and the price was more than reasonable. It came out perfect...no flaws what so ever. She is professional, friendly and accommodating, and prompt with communication. I highly recommend.
