    Amazing Venue!

Meredith was so wonderful to work with!!! I highly suggest the whole weekend package, I was so thankful for the memories we all got to make together. It's an absolutely beautiful location!! I can't recommend Cliffview enough. I haven't gotten my professional photos back yet, but you can't beat the view from their wedding deck!

    Cliffview Resort's reply:

Thank you Meghan for sharing your special day with us at Cliffview. I'm glad Meredith took good care of your family during your wedding event. Please do forgot to come back and visit us again.

    No hassle, no stress

Me and my daughter found Cliffview a pleasure to work with! AND that was prior to Covid. We made a very stressful decision to postpone her wedding. With no questions asked and no additional stress, they refunded our money. So of course, with a new date we contacted CLIFFVIEW to book with them again. Thank you!!

My Brother and his wife got married here on 11/11/13 it was beautiful and the service was amazing! we had family here from all over the United States and everyone cant wait to come back and visit! I cant say enough about Wendy and Jim (the care takers) they were so accomadating as well as so helpful with suggestions without being bossy or over bearing. I love to hear Jim play his guitar and sing old Cowboy songs. We had such fun and couldnt recomend it more!

I just recently had my wedding at the lodge in 4/23/16. It turned out absolutely beautiful. I have family from NC so it was very convenient to have them a place to stay while there. I would highly recommend this venue for your wedding. I loved it so much and everyone working there was always so helpful and quickly responded to any questions I had. I wish I could relive the day over and over. Thank you Cliffview staff for helping make my day a dream come true!

We honestly cannot give Cliffview Resort enough good feedback. The setting for our wedding this weekend was second to none. So many of our guests were blown away by the beauty of the area, and the perfect accommodations at the lodge and other cabins around Cliffview. The caretakers, Wendy and Jim and all the other staff were nothing short of amazing in making sure that we had anything and everything we needed to pull off our pre-wedding party on Friday, as well as our ceremony and reception on Saturday. In short, Cliffview Resort and everyone who makes it tick were able to give us the perfect wedding we were hoping for and more. I highly recommend them for anything from a weekend stay to a full wedding or family reunion. No one could be disappointed.

Our wedding was held at Cliffview and it was fantastic! Wendy and Jim who run the resort were incredibly helpful and answered any questions we had. We rented the lodge for the weekend and it was reasonably priced for the amount of people who were able to stay. We would recommend the lodge to anyone looking for a place to have a nice, relaxed wedding. We had a great time over the course of the weekend and hated to leave!

We thought the place was a fantastic venue. The on-site lodge managers Wendy and Jim were super accomodating and helpful on every level.

From the time I ziplined into a wedding party, I wanted to have my wedding here, and glad I did. All the guests loved it. It is a beautiful rustic space in a forest and gorge, looks like a huge wooden ark. Nice lodge aesthetics inside and out down to the walls and beds. You rent the entire Lodge for 2 nights, including 16 rooms (Plenty of cabins for additional guests in the resort) which I thought was awkward in asking guests for reimbursement, but it turns out to be convenient to have the Lodge the night before to decorate the space and meet with family, no strangers to feel awkward around. The Lodge includes: wedding deck with arch for ceremony, conference room for reception (max 80) with antler chandeliers & fairy lights, parking, dining & living room common areas for hanging out and breakfasts (complimentary), and late night conversation, kitchen, 2 refrigerators, commercial ice machine, BBQ grills, double decker wraparound porch with swings, 16 rooms- 14 which have deck access and a view of the mountains- the suites don't, but they overlook the parking lot to keep an eye out for vendors. No location changes =Kid friendly. One or more friendly helpers, and a special bell to summon (haha). Prior to reservation you discuss specifics: # of ceremony chairs, reception tables, time.... they set it up. Provide maps, code, directions for guests. For the most part, they were very accommodating.... although a couple of small things (check in too late, check out too early causing me to leave things I wish I didn't behind, slight delay in providing linens, projector), any downsides were made up for by unexpected upsides- setting up chairs, tables/chairs, fresh flowers in the dining room & wedding arch, chalkboard, helper. I was able to have the ceremony, reception, family reunion, and lodging in the same place, and had the run of the entire place (didn't get micro-managed). It was perfect & there is no other venue I would have wanted to hold my wedding at.

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony in the back yard of the Retreat cabin and then held the reception at the Activity Center. The cabin is just beautiful and has an enormous kitchen where we were able to serve appetizers following the wedding. The Activity Center is an outstanding venue with everything you need! I cannot say enough about the staff at Cliffview. Nancy and Teri are very down to earth and it was a pleasure working with them. They responded to all of my emails in a very timely manner. They went out of there way to accommodate me taking measurements, sending maps, etc. If you are looking to have your wedding outdoors but have guests/family who are handicapped like we did, there is a ramp for the front stairs, then they can just go straight out the back door to the balcony for a birds eye view of the ceremony. The Retreat Cabin is a bit pricey, but it is perfect!

Cliffview Resort was an amazing wedding venue! We got married on the helipad (or Overlook Point) in September, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect view. The staff was incredibly accommodating, and aside from a few hiccups, Cliffview deserves the high rating. Some issues we encountered: the staff wasn't completely forthright with the number of chairs we could use, which meant we were short 30-40 chairs during the ceremony. Now, for some prospective couples this won't be an issue, but because we had rented the Activity Center, Overlook Point, and the Lodge for the weekend, moving chairs between the three proved to be more difficult than anticipated. Secondly, we had the Activity Center rented from noon on Saturday (our wedding day) until Sunday morning at 7AM. The Cliffview staff was adamant about having everything cleaned/taken down by 7AM. My only suggestion here is to allow people more time. After the reception, we had family members (bride and groom included) cleaning until 2 in the morning. We weren't able to get everything finished, but were back at it around 8-9AM Sunday morning. The Cliffview staff was somewhat rude to us for missing the 7AM "check-out." After a wedding (or an event large enough to require the Activity Center), it would have been nice to have an extra hour or two, especially considering the rental cost. Also, I suggest that if you're getting married at Overlook Point, rent the cabin immediately adjacent, Amazing Grace. That way the bridal party has a convenient hideout pre-ceremony, and you can easily run an extension cord from the cabin to any speakers/microphone. Lastly, the event coordinator, Carmel, is wonderful!! She was very responsive to our concerns/requests, no matter the time of day.

This venue was pricey, but so gorgeous. There were communication errors regarding pricing in the beginning but Nancy was awesome compensating for our troubles. Everyone was amazingly friendly and helpful. They stay booked up almost year round, so reserve early!

Cliffview was a gorgeous place to have our wedding! Wendy and Jim were incredibly helpful and were present all weekend. During our planning, there was a change in management, which caused some last-minute detail changes and there was a lack of responsiveness at times because of that. However, I wouldn't have had our wedding anywhere else! It was also really fun to be able to have our friends and families staying out there with us at the lodge all weekend!

We knew we wanted to get married in the Red River Gorge area and we were blessed that Cliffview had an opening in May. The area is downright gorgeous. We had both our ceremony and reception at Cliffview. The reception was held at their reception hall a.k.a activities building. The building is gorgeous by itself and doesn't really need much if any decoration. The Cliffview staff were very responsive to my questions and they initiated contact themselves several times just to check on us. The staff also moved and set up the provided chairs for the ceremony.
We had a few issues with Cliffview and some of them may be mostly related to reserving the place during a holiday weekend. Sundays are not cheaper on holiday weekends. We only reserved the space for Sunday instead of the whole weekend. There was confusion about what ceremony site that we had reserved. Apparently certain buildings are attached to different ceremony sites. We didn't discover this until two months before the wedding. And even if the other ceremony sites are not reserved, you can't choose to have your ceremony at another site. The same is true for rehearsing as well. We asked if we could rehearse the day before the wedding at our ceremony site and we were told that we would have to pay a huge fee to do so even though we would only need it for an hour and it wasn't already reserved. We also inquired about renting the huge dining room at the lodge for a rehearsal dinner and were told that we would have to rent out the whole lodge to have access to the dining room. We had already rented the reception hall.
We didn't have a private separate room to get ready in but used the bathrooms of the reception hall. We could have rented a cabin to stay in but since it was a holiday weekend that meant a minimum 3 day stay which becomes very pricey.
All in all, gorgeous area and buildings, but lots of restrictions and a nickel and dime attitude/feel.

    Cliffview Resort's reply:

Heather, thanks for the review. Also thanks so much for having your wedding with us. We really appreciate it and are glad you enjoyed the staff, the venue and the Red River Gorge area. We really work hard to provide a value for what we offer. We certainly don't want to come off as a “nickel and dime” attitude and feel and I am sorry that you felt that way. That is certainly not our intent and our goal is to be as accommodating as we can. We highly encourage people to come on site and get a complimentary guided tour of our whole facility. This allows us to explain and for our customer to see all of our venues and what can be rented separately and what is rented together before they make a decision. Although many of the things we do have been developed over years and were put in place so that we can make sure our bride and groom’s special day goes off perfectly, we are constantly evaluating to make sure we provide the best guest experience we can. Your feedback is helpful to us and we do review it as a team so that we can continually improve and modify what we do where needed. I will also reach out to you by PM.

    Thanks again, Blake

The venue was nice for a fall wedding but somewhat over-priced.
Also, the venue put up decorations at our ceremony site a few weeks before our wedding date and never informed us! When we booked with them, the ceremony site was empty and we were told we could decorate however we would prefer. We were told we could not take down the decorations they put up!

    Cliffview Resort's reply:

I'm very sorry about your experience. We really try to provide a great value and be accommodating to our guests and are usually very flexible in terms of decorating. It sounds like that was not at all your experience and I apologize for that. Since I cannot tell by your username which wedding party you were, I can only apologize and thank you for the feedback. We do take all feedback into consideration and are always trying to improve our products and services.

    Sincerely, Blake
