Channing is the best!

When we were planning our wedding we decided that the one area we were willing to break out budget for was the photographer, since we knew those pictures would last a lifetime. Well, Channing was worth every penny and more! There are three things that set Channing above the rest: his professionalism, his demeanor, and his photography.

Professionalism: We had to plan much of our Boston wedding from Los Angeles, and so it was a bit of a logistical nightmare. However, Channing was friendly and accommodating from the start. He responded to all our emails promptly and professionally, set up times for a telephone interview, and had us over to his house while we were in town for Christmas. When we were concerned that his photojournalist background might prevent him from taking the best portraits, he recommended another photographer in case we wanted to go with someone with a stronger portrait background. Then, when we chose to go with Channing, he promised to work with us to take the best portraits possible, and they came out simply stunning. We never take good pictures, but Channing got us to relax and captured the "real us". He was exceedingly prompt on the wedding day, worked tirelessly throughout the day, and got our pictures back to quickly and faster than expected!

Demeanor: Channing has a rare ability to coordinate a large group of rowdy wedding guests into a perfect portrait simply by being a nice guy. We have been at too many weddings where the photographer is rude to the guests, or pushes people aside in order to get the shot, and it leaves everyone with a bad taste in their mouth. Channing uses those photojournalist skills to get the shot without getting in the way of the story. He was friendly and joked with the guys to keep them loose when they were getting ready, and was quiet, unobtrusive and respectful during the ceremony, getting great pictures the entire time! He managed to get amazing photos on the dance floor without ever elbowing a guest, or getting in the way. Yet he was seemingly everywhere. Every time we thought, "Boy, I hope Channing is capturing this" we'd turn around and there he was. He never distracted from the magic of the evening, but managed to create a beautiful record of everything. After meeting him for the first time we both wanted to be friends with him, since he's such a nice, interesting and thoughtful guy.

Photography: Well, his pictures speak from themselves. He is a real artist, and our guests were simply blown away by many of the photos he took. We had a very fun and youthful wedding, over 80% of the guests were 24-34, and so everyone was on the dance floor all night. This is where Channing's photojournalism background really paid off. He got just amazing "action" shots, and candid photos, of ourselves and our friends being their crazy and fun-loving selves. When you scroll through his photos you can really relive all the excitement and joy of that night, it just comes alive for you. His photos are simply alive, and are so vibrant and colorful, he managed to make everything look as fun and beautiful as it was in real life, sometimes even better! Furthermore, his portraits were beautiful, and while we usually take bad photos, he kept us at ease and really captured us together. We never realized we could look so good!

Summary: Channing is a wonderful guy, who manages to take absolutely amazing photos without getting in the way of all the fun. We simply could not recommend him more highly. Oh, and he even sent us chocolates for Christmas!

Channing is the absolute best. He does a wonderful job of capturing moments as they happen, and manages to make them look even better in pictures! Everybody has remarked that the pictures are gorgeous, and that they swear they never even saw him there. I was looking for a photographer that wouldn't try to force us into cheesy poses, and that is definitely what I found. I seriously can't recommend him enough, I would hire him again in an instant.

Channing was the vendor I was most looking forward to working with. He was the first of 8 photographers we met with, and we kept comparing everyone's work to his- so we knew we had to book him as our wedding photographer. Months leading up to our wedding I was stalking his blog and blown away every time I saw his blog entries.

Our wedding day was one of the happiest days of our lives and Channing captured all the emotion of the day in the photos he took. We love the way our wedding photos came out- all 1000+ of them. It amazes us how talented, professional, and kind Channing is. I would say Channing exceeded my expectations, but I knew from the get-go that he would be phenomenal- and he did not disappoint. He is definitely one of our favorite wedding vendors and highly recommend him.

Channing was fantastic every step of the way. From taking us out for drinks at a cozy tavern to look at his portfolio and talk about our wedding vision, to disappearing in the crowd on the big day, leaving us to later wonder, "How did he get that shot?!" We hardly even noticed he was there. He was unobtrusive and laid back, but still on-the-ball, capturing every important moment when we needed him. We are both newspaper reporters, and we knew we wanted to someone who would approach our wedding with a photojournalist's eye. Channing came highly recommended from another award-winning photographer with whom I worked, and he did not disappoint. If you want a hundred artsy shots of the two of you gazing into each other's eyes (or peeking out from behind a tree, as one vendor seriously suggested) this is not your guy. If you want your photos to tell the story of your wedding day, from start to finish, Channing will provide you with hundreds of photos that accurately capture the mood and the moments and the people that made your day special. Although Channing's 8-hour photo package doesn't include prints or an album (those cost extra) he turns over every single one of his digital pictures on an external hard drive, so they're yours forever.

Channing was one of our favorite vendors to work with. We had been double-booked by a previous photographer, so we were double, triple-checking his availability...I'm sure to the point of aggrivation! Photography was so important to us...Channing is our age (late 20's) and is a photojournalist...he loves capturing candid moments, which we loved. In fact, we had very few posed pictures...and the photographs are stunning. I get so many compliments, and it was such a positive experience working with him!

We had our pictures within days of our wedding and everyone was thrilled with how they turned out.

Channing is a talented photographer, with a great eye for color, light, and catching people having a fantastic time. He doesn't rely on gimmicks to make an interesting photo. Our wedding pictures are absolutely gorgeous, and everyone who has seen them has complimented them. On top of that, Channing was a great person to have around during the wedding and in the sometimes-hectic months leading up to it!

Channing was referred to us by friends who knew him from his newspaper staff photographer days. After checking out his website we were very excited to meet him as his editorial style was exactly what we were looking for. He accommodated our schedule and met us at a time and location that was very convenient for us. After chatting with him for a bit I knew that his personality, demeanor, and professionalism were precisely what I wanted in the person who would be capturing some of the most important moments throughout the wedding day. Channing was accessible during the planning process and even met with us in person a couple weeks before the wedding day to go over some final details we wanted to discuss. The day of the wedding he unobtrusively captured some intimate moments of us with our family and respective wedding parties getting ready for the ceremony; some wonderful moments that I didn’t even realize happened until I saw his pictures. His knowledge of lighting and shadows made for some beautiful images but his eye for capturing candid moments that tell the story of the day is what we (and our families) were beyond impressed with. He somehow managed to capture the day without us realizing he was right there. The icing on the cake was that he emailed us the link to our slideshow and online gallery while we were on our honeymoon so we were able to relive the wedding day as soon as we got home; the only thing better than getting to see the photographs so soon were the photographs themselves.

Channing Johnson rocks our world. He was the photographer at our wedding and did a truly amazing job-many of the guests told us that these were the best wedding photos they'd ever seen. Here are the top reasons to pick Channing:

6. He give you all of the photos, and does not make you pay for copyright ownership, which is awesome. We had something like 2300 photos to choose from in a well-designed website. We had the photos before the end of our honeymoon which we left for right after the wedding!
7. He was prompt in being where he said he'd be as well as in email correspondence and payment confirmation-which is rare these days in some parts of the wedding vendor world!!
