Choosing a cake is something that my husband and I waited until the last minute to do. With Cakes by Karen though, it didn't really matter. We had a great tasting with them, where we got to sample an impressive variety of cakes. They were quick to get going on our order and helped make the decisions easy. We wound up with not one, but two delicious cakes for our big day. They worked beautifully with our caterers and had the cakes in place on time and beautiful for our wedding. We never felt pressured to do anything other than exactly what we wanted, even though it was far from traditional. Ore experience was great, the service was beyond friendly and our cakes were delicious!

Our cake was beautful and it tasted pretty good too! We had three different flavors, carrot cake, almond poppy seed and chocolate fudge. The almond poppy seed was pretty dry, but the other two were great! The carrot cake may have been some of the best carrot cake I have ever had. The fondant flowers on the cake were very pretty and it was exactly what we were looking for as far as looks! They are also very reasonable. I was happy with our wedding cake overall!

I just had my wedding cake made by Cakes by Karen and the overall cake was Delicious and was designed correctly to my specification But they have ABSOLUTELY no communication skills between the different bakeries and their customers. When it came time to cut the cake, my husband and I noticed that our cake topper that I had provided the bakery with was missing? I called Cakes by Karen the next day and Karen told myself and my father in law (who called a separate time) two different stories. One was they thought I wanted flowers on the top tier instead of my topper. the other was that the cake topper was to big for the top tier???? I was never contacted before, the day of, or during delivery questioning me what I wanted to be done. When I called about it, There was absolutely no compassion about THEIR lack of communication or follow up. AND THEY JUST LEFT WITHOUT PLACING ANYTHING ON THE TOP TIER!! Again, Great cake!!!! but just make sure they know exactly what you want because they have absolutely positively no communication skills what so ever!!!!!!!!

The ladies at Cakes by Karen were great at capturing our ideas and putting it into a cake! It was so great and tasted yummy too!

I had a very specific plan for my wedding cakes and I wasn't sure I'd find a bakery that would willingly comply with my wishes. Karen was extremely accommodating and encouraging. She did exactly what I wanted and the cakes were there when I wanted them to be. And, we all enjoyed them.

We were very happy with our cake, It was exactly what I had asked for. They also have a great variety of flavors. The Champagne cake was awesome.

I was introduced to Cakes by Karen by my mom. We went to a tasting and happen to work with a wonderful woman that was very enthusiastic and excited to help us in finding a good cake selection.
We ended up falling in love with the champagne flavored cake with strawberry filling. Something that we had never heard of prior.
The cake was beautiful and decorated with bright colorful flowers. The guests loved the unique flavor and the quality of cake! It was better than any wedding cake I had ever tried before. Actually fresh and moist, not dry and typical!
I would always recommend Cakes by Karen. They even make you a fresh anniversary cake! Which we enjoyed a year later!

We used the Cakes by Karen in Boulder (part of the same chain as the Northglenn store). We didn't want an actual wedding cake--but instead wanted to have several different cakes (so we could have lots of flavors!). Everyone at the store was just great, and the cakes were delivered on time. Oh...and the price was right too!

I had a crazy cake idea and they took the pictures and did a pretty good job of replicating a difficult cake to build. The best part to me was the taste though. I taste tested other vendors that were way more pricey and they just didn't taste as good.
