We had a small cake that was soooooo delicious!!! Loved it!!

I ordered my wedding cake from CakeLove in Shirlington, VA. I absolutely loved my wedding cake. I had a Vanilla cake with Vanilla Butter Cream frosting, and strawberries added for decoration. The quality of my wedding cake was superb and the flavor was amazing. I could tell CakeLove did not skimp on ingredients in my cake whatsoever. They did not use shortening or artificial ingredients; only butter was used to enhance flavor.

The only thing I did not like is that CakeLove does not have their own delivery service. I needed my cake delivered to my reception site, so I had to pay extra for a courier service (contracted directly through CakeLove) to deliver my cake. I would have preferred if the Bakery could have delivered my cake themselves.

We did a cupcake tower instead of a traditional wedding cake. The cupcakes stole the show! Everyone talked about them for weeks after the wedding. We sampled many cupcake vendors in the area and Cake Love was, hands down, the best quality. Some of the vendors are cheaper, but we didn't want to skimp on the cupcake quality and are really glad we didn't!

I love Cake Love there cupcakes are amazing! but they don't do wedding cupcakes! or they do but you have to provide your own stand and you have to set it up! huh?! so I went to this lady who for some reason doesn't have her site up here she is starting up it's Simply Dolicious...info@simplydolicious.com... I have pics posted up of how her work is. She was great and kept emailing us and sending us samples all the time! she is in Fairfax, Va/ Merrifield. I highly recommend her. I love Cake Love but was disappointed to find out you have to provide all this stuff.

My guests are still coming over to my house for more of my wedding cake! I love how CakeLove focuses on quality and taste and is not all about looks. I first went to a traditional wedding cake baker for a tasting before going to CakeLove. The cakes were extravagant and grandious but when it came to taste them it was like eating paper. It was dry and lacked flavor. My then fiance and I went to CakeLove in Silver Spring for a tasting and we couldnt stop eating! I knew CakeLove was the one for me. They arent big on decorations but they are big on taste and that's what's important to me. Let's start a revolution! Down with bland wedding cake! Go to CakeLove!

We ordered our cakes from Cakelove in Shirlington. They were beautiful and delicious and traveled well to Baltimore! We ordered three individual cakes instead of a tiered cake because the cost is significantly lower. I liked that you can order up to four days in advance of your event. My only complaint is that delivery is extra and my wedding venue was not in the delivery area. Other than that, no problems + fantastic cakes :) (Neil's Hat Trick with strawberries, Carrot, and Cynthia's Sin)

Our Cake Love cake was on the very simple end of what they can do, but it was SO delicious, you would never know it! I was so thrilled by how pretty the cake was and how quickly it was devoured! :)

We decided to go with Cake Love for our wedding cake because we wanted to do something local (almost all of our guests were from out of town), and we also had decided to do a variety of flavored cakes rather than the traditional tiered wedding cake.

When we went to the store in Shirlington, the employee was very friendly and helpful, and this review is not a reflection of her or that particular location. She took our order, and then we later called in to confirm the order and make payment.

Somewhere along the way something went wrong. We had ordered three different flavors. When we arrived at the reception, the wrong order had been delivered. Two of the cakes were the same flavor, so we were missing one of our flavors (the chocolate was missing, and we had already promised all the young - read "child" - guests chocolate cake because we knew that is what they would want). I immediately called the store just to alert them that our order was incorrect and we agreed that I would speak to a manager during business hours. I left it at that because all I wanted to do was enjoy my reception!

The next day I got a call (I was impressed that there was such a quick response). The manager or corporate employee or whatever she was (from here-out referred to as "lady") that called me profusely apologized for getting our order wrong and offered us a free cake of our choice good for the next year. Not really thinking about it, I accepted the offer and we hung up. After some thought, we realized that the free cake they offered us was worth less than half the value of the incorrect cake that was delivered, so we called back to work something else out. This is where it all went sour...

The lady tried to justify providing us a $40 free cake as a replacement to our incorrect $100 cake by saying that they had delivered us a cake so therefore we had to pay for it. Considering there was no way they would have been able to right their wrong at the time of the mistake (it takes 24 hours for them to make a cake), that was an unacceptable excuse to me. We went back and forth for quite some time and she was quite rude to me, which only served to further aggravate me. My account written here does the situation no justice...it is not possible for me to elaborate exactly how horrible of an argument this lady was trying to make just to get out of giving us our money back.

We finally got a better return than the initial offer, but this lady forever left a bitter taste in my mouth about the Cake Love franchise. Not only will I never bring my business to them again, but I will never recommend to others to do business with them either because of the poor customer service provided by one of their higher-ups.

Delicious! We ordered two layered cakes for our wedding, and there was not a single slice left... too bad the bride was busy socializing... guess I'll have to stop by the bakery for more!

We used CakeLove Cupcakes for our wedding and I couldn't be happier. Their customer service was awesome and everything was perfect. I would highly recommend that you book them if you want something a little different but don't want to sacrafice taste, quality, or customer service.

I worked with CakeLove of Shirlington, since that location was the closest to the wedding reception. Overall the staff was friendly and easy to work with. The cupcakes were competitively priced and tasty. Because I had added a 6" cake to go on top of the cupcake tree later, it was missed in delivery. Fortunately this was not needed, as we already had the hotel dessert and too many cupcakes. Also CakeLove quickly gave me a refund for this cake, when I dropped off the cupcake tree for the deposit return. Overall I would use them again and highly recommend them.

So we didn't actually get a custom wedding cake - just a large size of their standard Lemon Swirl cake, but ohhhh so yummy. Taste was much more important to me than fancy looks, and I actually liked that the icing was simple and elegant - we just scattered the table with orchids and it looked really nice. I like that their icing isn't too sweet and the lemon curd gave it the right kick. The cake itself was very moist too. I regret not having a layer we could freeze and eat later!

The cake is DELICIOUS which was most important for us, however, if you're looking for a design concept they are not for you. They only make very simple looking cakes. Additionally, my husband has a gluten allergy and they were able to accomate a couple of the tiers for that. I have to mention again that it was a delicious cake. I don't usually like wedding cakes at any of the weddings I go to but everyone said ours was amazing.

While we love the look of a "traditional" wedding cake (although with a more modern design), our priority was on taste. Just one bite from a CakeLove cupcake at a friend's birthday party and we were totally sold. While CakeLove cakes are expensive by normal cake terms, they're much cheaper than a traditional wedding cake, and we were able to get three 9" cakes (which each feed approximately 20 people) for less than the cost of a single traditional wedding cake - and still had leftovers! We honestly didn't even think of using anyone else for our wedding cake, and both in terms of cost and taste it was totally the right decision.

CakeLove makes really good cake - it's been our favorite. We ordered a tiered wedding cake and a LOT of cupcakes for our event - they were wonderful, and we're looking forward to enjoying the top tier (currently in the freezer) as part of our first anniversary celebration. The only reason "flexibility" and "responsiveness" didn't receive a 5-star rating is that CakeLove, which is less than a block down the pedestrian walkway from our reception site, insisted on charging a full fee to deliver the cake and cupcakes. The folks at McGinty's, where we held our ceremony and reception, picked the cake and cupcakes up for us - gratis.

Most importantly, our cake was delicious. It was also delivered on time and looked great. The only thing about CakeLove that I didn't care for was that it took a while for them to confirm that they could deliver to our reception location, which was only a few miles outside the beltway. It turned out to be no problem in the end. We thought it was a great value if you are looking for tasty cake without an overly fancy look. We got lots of compliments on the cake!
