Out of all our vendors, this was the most disappointing. I have used them in the past and remembered the cake being good and reasonable which is why we used them again. From what I could tell, they weren't the best in terms of intricate details, but ours didn't have sugar flowers or things like that- in fact, we supplied all the decorations: 2 diff. colors of double faced satin ribbon, swarovski rhinestone chain, flowers and pheasant feathers for the top. What could have been a gorgeous cake turned out to be a mess, not to mention the cake itself.
The assembly of the cake decoration was careless. We were supposed to have a "shimmer" airbrushed on the entire thing and then 2 bands of ribbon and a rhinestone border on each layer. Turns out they sprayed the shimmer on AFTER the other was put on, which explains why the $100+ rhinestones didn't sparkle. They were coated!
Even more disturbing was our cake. We intentionally bought a bigger cake than needed knowing we would be able to save the top and have left overs for the weekend guests. We only had a brief bite during the cake cutting, but later had some w/ dinner the caterer packed only to find it was the worst cake I've ever tasted. My fiance agreed! I'm not sure what happened, but it seems they pieced the bottom layer together w/ old, stale cake b/c the catered packed the 2nd layer as well, and it was totally different; it was good and what we paid for. The problem is that we learned that at least 1/2 our guests got the bad stuff and didn't eat more than a taste. I took both cakes to them when I returned the rented cake stands and left samples w/ the girl and was promised the chef would get back to me. Yeah, that was almost a month ago. I've since had to send another letter via certified mail and have no problem going to the BBB for a resolution. I'm not asking for a free cake, but certainly don't believe it was fair to charge $4.50/slice for frankly, a poor substitute cake that I could have made better myself.
My advice, SHOP AROUND! They're all very competitive and depend on their reputation and word of mouth for business. Cake Affairs has merged w/ another company recently and become much bigger. It seems the cakes have turned into nothing more than assembly line products w/ zero quality control and even less customer service after they have your money.

We were supposed to get married on Sept 13 in Houston, and had ordered a cake through Cake Affairs. We were happy with the service we'd received during our discussions with them -- they were easy to work with and we found the prices reasonable.
We had to reschedule when Hurricane Ike came through Houston. I called to postpone before the event weekend, and then called them back the next week when we had our rescheduled date chosen. I gave someone there all the details for the new date, and was under the impression that they'd been documented in our file and that we were all set.
About a week and a half before the wedding, I got a phone call from the owner, asking if we'd set a new date yet. I have no idea what happened, but apparently the info I'd given them didn't get to the right person / place! There was a good chance that if not for some luck, I wouldn't have had a wedding cake, and wouldn't have known about it until it was too late.
So I gave them the info for the new date again, and the cake was delivered on schedule. It was a very simple design and looked great, exactly as expected.
The cake itself was great and all of our guests really enjoyed it. However, from talking to several of them (and what we tasted ourselves, and tasting the 'leftovers' from the bottom layer), it was not what we'd ordered. We had ordered a chocolate cake with an orange mousse / filling; there was no orange mousse in the cake, only buttercream. I called when we returned from our honeymoon to ask what happened, but haven't gotten a response or a suggested resolution from them yet.

We ordered both our wedding and grooms cake through Cake Affairs. Overall the cakes were very good, but there were a few things we weren't 100% satisfied with. Our buttercream wedding cake had a lot of icing. The icing on the cake was practically an inch thick. Although it was absolutely beautiful, it was a bit too sweet.
Our grooms cake was the best tasting cake I have ever had. It was a delicious chocolate ganache cake. We were a little disappointed with the appearance though. The logo we had chosen didn't look as we had discussed. We were told that it would be an exact print, almost like a carbon copy that would be smooth and what we thought would be more professional. When we arrived at the site we found that it was just drawn on with different colors of icing, not what we had asked for.
Overall our cakes were very delicious, but a few details were overlooked.

I use Cake Affairs & Culinary Creations exclusively as my cake vendor. They have the best product in town, are extremely flexible, reliable, curteous, and responsible. The owner, Amber is very involved in the business and truly cares about her clients and partner vendors. I would reccomend this company anybody and everybody that I can.

Cake was beautiful, delicious, delivered at agreed-on time, and order matched our request exactly.
Company also gave me a courtesy phone call to let us know they had consolidated offices, and were patient and helpful when I called to confirm our order was still on file.

We ordered our wedding cake and groom's cake through Cake Affairs. I had an idea when we went to do our cake tasting of the design I liked for our wedding cake, but their consultants are great at taking your ideas to the next level. Amanda, our consultant, gave me binders (and more binders) of cakes they had made in the past and told me to place a sticky note on as many pages as I liked. We combined aspects of different cakes to create our dream wedding cake. It was beautiful! It was a 3-tier almond buttercream cake with varying shaped layers. The bottom layer was hexagonal with diamond shapes, the middle layer round with scrolls and fleur de lis (my favorite shape) and the top layer was square with a bow (like a present). There were edible gold beads throughout to tie in our colors and black ribbon around the bottom of each layer (that we provided) to again, tie in our colors. When I saw the cake at our reception, it looked better than I had ever imagined! And it was SO delicious! Our groom's cake was very cute! It was a chocolate 2-tier cake shaped like a cooler with my husband's favorite beer, Shiner Bock, inside. It had ice cubes made out of gelatin and the 6 empty Shiner bottles sticking out...too cute! Everyone loved the cake and we kept the top for our 1-year anniversary!

AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING! Cake affairs did a superb job on both our 4-tiered wedding cake and groom's cake. For the wedding cake we chose a wedding white cake with a Crème Brule filling. YUM! The groom's cake also was a white wedding cake with a strawberry filling. It was magnificent as well! Our guests enjoyed the cake so much we almost lost the top layer of our wedding cake that we wanted to be sure to have for our one year anniversary. We can't wait to sink our mouths into it again soon!

They are awesome! Not only were the cakes absolutely perfect and were delicious! My wedding reception venue all centered on if they (the venue) used Cake affairs for the wedding package. I gave them a picture of what I wanted my wedding cake and grooms cake to look like, they added additional unique touches to make my wedding cakes extra special and beautiful. I highly recommend.

our venue for the reception offered a free wedding cake through Cake affairs as part of their package, which we thought would be great. How wrong we were! We paid EXTRA to get what we wanted and on top of that had to purchase our own rhinestone border. The rhinestones were $10/yd. We shipped 10 yards to Cake Affairs which they claim they never received. We then bought another 10 yards. $200 on rhinestones - but hey that's what we wanted. We walked up to cut our cake and lo and behold - NO RHINESTONES!!! We were disappointed because our cake looked nothing like we were promised. On top of that - our wedding planner had to add a topper because the cake was sooo plain looking. We're still waiting for a refund.

Cake Affairs was able to design my cake exactly how I imagined it! The taste was fresh and fantastic. They had a wide arrary of flavors available, and our tasting session went very well. The cake was a gorgeous (and tasty) "centerpiece" at our reception.
