User1403111 Sent on 10/26/2013Suman did my makeup and hair for all my wedding events, sangeet, mendhi, wedding and reception. She did an absolute amazing job!! She was very responsive to my look I wanted a modern look for a lot of my events which she accomplished. She also helped me with my outfits and getting dressed. She is very good and she definitely knows what she is doing. She did a different hairstyle at every event which I appreciated ;) thanks Suman for making my wedding day special ;)) -

Aarti Sent on 01/28/2016Suman did my hair and makeup for my wedding in October of 2015. She did an excellent job for both my traditional indian ceremony as well as American ceremony. She loaned me hair pieces for both looks and did a great job of tying my south indian ceremony. She also had her assistant do a touch up for me since she was booked during that time. I found her to be professional to work with. I received nothing but compliments on hair/makeup. My only issue was that the charge for traveling to the site was a little high...but I think the cost of the actual services were in line with other top hair/makeup artists. -
User1190439 Sent on 06/06/2013She and her helper were great- she did such an amazing job with my makeup for both the wedding and the reception, and an amazing job with my Indian outfits for both the wedding and the reception. My hair was covered for the wedding so it was fine, and she did a great job of making sure my dupatta was secured to my hair even though it was very heavy. That said, I didn't love the way she did my hair for the reception. She made it very stiff and done up, which is not what I wanted and after I told her I didn't like it, she seemed frustrated at the idea of changing it. She did my sister and sister-in-law's hair as well which turned out very nice. She also did a great job with my Mehndi. She's a little bitchy to deal with but overall I was very happy with her and looked pretty great (if I do say so myself) -
User1445225 Sent on 11/19/2013Everything was amazing!!! The trial run really helped me be confident that i was going to look beautiful on my special day. The facial was one of my favorite parts because I really felt like I looked completely different afterwards (in a good way!) the mehndi was done so good. Suman and her assistant Andi left me looking stunning!!! The only part I didn't like much was at the end, she pulled me to the bathroom to give me the bill which I didn't feel was very professional considering it was only her and her assistant in the room with me. Who does a business transaction in the bathroom?! -
User1397530 Sent on 10/23/2013I believed that Suman would make me look like a princess on my wedding day...but it was the opposite. She first of all double booked herself and arrived 2 hrs before my wedding and then she was so rushed that she did not do a good job on my hair or make up despite me warning her about my hair and skin, i looked nothing like the trial we had done prior to the wedding day!!! to top it all she brought an inexperienced person as her assistant who was supposed to be doing the bridal party makeup and hair but could not even do a curl!!! so with hardly two hours left to do my hair and make up (I am the bride!), she was running between me and the useless assistant giving her tutorials on how to curls hair !!! till we got fed up and all my bridal party did their own hair and makeup, and needless to say all my pictures showed that my hair looked horrible and i was traumatized just looking at my pictures for over a month just wishing i had not chosen suman to do my hair or makeup. to top it all she was not at all professional and she kept hurrying me telling me that she had a taxi waiting, while she is supposed to be concentrating on making me look beautiful for the reception. I had to make sure that her mood was okay so she would not mess up my hair or makeup! can you imagine!!! and when i was telling her that the hair is not looking good and i don't like it that way, she kept insisting that it will look good and did it that way anyway. The icing on the cake was that she took all the money for the work she did not do (make up and hair for the maid of honor) she even took money for the work her assistant did not do just because we had a cousin handle the writing of the check, she tricked her into writing that amount. I would never ever recommend this woman to my friends or to anyone for that matter! choosing this woman was one of the worst mistakes of my life, and a life time of horrible hair and make up pictures to look at. please don't go to her if you want a beautiful look -
User1594714 Sent on 04/22/2014It's been six months since my wedding date - and I finally feel calm enough to write a review for this woman who calls herself a wedding professional.
Below is a description of my experience with Suman Khosla - from the first interaction to the wedding date. I called Suman to book a time for a trial. When chatting with her, to learn about her style, I got a sense that she knew what she was talking about. All seemed well, and we booked a trial date.
On the date of the trial, she was running late from a previous appointment, and didn't answer her cell. (She works out of her home, so I got there to a house and had to wait around in her drive-way). She didn't so much as offer an apology - instead started bad-mouthing her previous client, saying that she didn't inform her how much "work" needed to get done. This gave me a sense of unease, as it felt unprofessional. However, I'd just driven (in rush-hour DC traffic) to get there, so I was eager to discuss my make-up/hair needs for my w-day. So, I redirected the conversa to my style and what I was looking for. I had brought a few pictures and discussed with her what I envisioned my bridal makeup. I should have followed my gut instinct at that point, as she kept interrupting me stating "I know..I know. I've done X-number of girls. Just trust me. I've worked on Bollywood actresses. You know Shreya Ghosal? I've worked on her..blah..blah..blah". Looking back, I realize that, she was SO full of herself, and WOULD NOT listen!
As it was getting close to my wedding date, and I was stressed about many other planning details, I ended up not following my internal hesitation about Suman. Dismissing her prideful description of her work with famous people, I kept thinking - "well, she must be good. Let me just book her, and move on to the next to-do on my list". Big mistake!
Another no-no: pricing. I asked her several times for pricing information and she gave me different numbers each time we talked.

User1594725 Sent on 04/22/2014On the wedding day, my bridal party and I arrived promptly on time at her house. She was getting set up (it was 8am in the morning) and asked her to wait for a few minutes.
She got started on my mom and my sister first. Both expressed a desire for VERY LIGHT make-up. My sister has beautiful clear complexion and doesn't need much. And my mom didn't want to look like a fake china-doll. Suman, in her characteristic flair, said, "don't worry. Leave this up to me. I'll make you look great". Through out the make-up application process, I kept hearing my mom express how she felt that her face had a ton of makeup. Suman didn't listen. It turned me off big time. It was like - her clients' wishes weren't put first, and Suman kept talking about many other girls she's worked on and how she's the best in the industry, on and on.
When it came to me (she explained that she wanted to work on me last to preserve the freshest look for the pictures), we only had an hour left. She kept looking at the time, and saying - we were late. (Mind you, we had arrived early!) To top it off, she did the same thing to me - would not listen to me, kept cutting me off, and started poking my head very rudely with her hand. (I figured she was getting upset, and I stopped talking for fear of having her completely ruining my look).
The straw that broke camel's back was pricing. E.g., she would ask, "would you like these decorative bobby pins in your hair?" I said, "sure". Little did I know that she would add them to the final price! I asked for a hair wash. Sure. With a hefty $50 fee tacked on later! ANY professional knows that prices should be disclosed upfront. Umm, I just paid you $450 for my hair/makeup. You can freaking run some water through my hair!
To summarize, it was THE WORST experience I've had with a wedding vendor. I've never felt so angry. She ruined the start of my wedding day! I hated how I looked, and would not look at my own pictures for months afterward! Buyer beware!
