Let me start by saying that Brian was the only one of our vendors we weren't 110% thrilled with, so maybe the fact that our other vendors were SO excellent impacted our opinion of him. That being said, he got the job done, we had a beautiful ceremony, and we're legally married.

Brian was willing to travel to Charlottesville several times to meet with us and discuss our desires for the ceremony. While that was nice, and I suppose it was good for him to get to know us, we completely wrote our own ceremony (a composite of the samples he had available online) and e-mailed it to him for him to read at the wedding, so to be honest we really didn't feel that the meetings were necessary. However, his experience was helpful during our rehearsal, and he made several constructive suggestions about people walking in, where people should stand, etc. The day of the wedding, everything went smoothly; we had all the necessary paperwork in order, he signed and dated everything, we signed, our witnesses signed, and he gave us a folder with everything in it.

This is where our experience with him went a bit downhill. My husband and I had discussed with him that we wanted our marriage license to be returned to us, so we could file it with the court on Monday morning (given that we were moving out of Virginia on Wednesday, and needed to be able to take certified copies of the marriage license with us for my name change). I thought we'd confirmed that, but either we weren't clear, or he forgot, because he took the marriage license and mailed it himself. It ended up arriving with the court in time for us to get the necessary copies before we left, but was just a hassle that we hadn't expected. Also, he wrote an incorrect name as my husband's middle name on our ceremonial marriage certificate from the state of Virginia (not sure what he was thinking - it was just a different name entirely, not even a misspelling...). We mentioned it to him and he offered to get another one, redo it, and mail it to us, but we didn't really care - just wished he'd had a little more attention to detail.

However, the thing that did bother us was that on the certificate that we (and our witnesses) signed immediately after the ceremony, he had the wrong name of our wedding venue (King Farm Vineyard - incorrect - vs. King Family Vineyards - correct). He didn't send us the certificate in advance so we had no chance to look over it, but I would recommend requesting a copy in advance so you can ensure that it's correct. I'm sure he would have reprinted that for us as well, but as we and our witnesses are spread out across the country, it seems a bit ridiculous to be mailing around a certificate for a marriage that happened a month ago. Plus, it loses the magic and sentimentality of having/framing the certificate that our best friends signed on that wonderful day.

All in all, he got the job done, and was very nice, friendly and helpful in orchestrating a great ceremony. But, his attention to detail left something to be desired - and perhaps we should have been more diligent and requested copies of everything in advance to check, but we really didn't think it would be too difficult! He gave us the ceremony we wanted, but a few other unnecessary headaches - I would still recommend him, but would recommend that you double check everything!

Brian was reccommended to us by a friend who had used his services years before us. Brian is very polite, professional and talented. He added everything we requested for our ceremony and didn't mind when I changed things around. He did everything in his power to make our ceremony run smoothly and he even complimented me when I arrived at the alter to calm my nerves. He is a very confident speaker and everyone was able to hear him without the aid of a microphone. He was a pleasure to work with and we highly reccommend him for custom wedding ceremonies.

Brian was such a wonderful guy and such a pleasure to work with. He was really laid back and down-to-earth. His attitude was similar towards ours, so we felt very comfortable working with him. We loved the personalized ceremony he created for us! We would highly recommend Brian to anyone!

We were looking for someone to perform our wedding without having to go through some religious promises to raise our kids in some church or have "religious" pre-marital counceling. I am so glad I found Brian. He not only has a nice commanding presence ( over 6 feet) and a very nice strong speaking voice but he is a wonderful person to work with. He really tries to find out about the couple is is marrying so he can give personal touches to the service. Brian often came to our home to meet with us making it very easier for our two working household. Another couple at our wedding liked him so much they want to hire him for their Baby naming ceremony.

My husband and I were so pleased with the Wedding Ceremony Brian Vaughan created for us. We enjoyed taking his questionaire and really felt like we had a part in the development of the ceremony. He combined the traditional and nontraditional aspects we wanted. He was also very professional, helpful and affordable!

Keeping it short....the guy wasn't the best. His website is great and he's a nice guy. Maybe he just needed some practice or maybe our energies just didn't mesh with his. We're married and he did the paperwork like he said he would.

Brian was a joy to work with and really created an individualized ceremony for us. He traveled from Charlottesville a few times to meet with us and was easy to get ahold of through email. He really took the time to learn who we are and why we are with each other. He's the sweetest man and we both enjoyed having him there on our big day. We had a few people tell us that they had trouble hearing him during the ceremony, but we were outdoors and didn't have him mic'd. All in all, we are extremely pleased with Brian's performance.
