We have been customers of Bagatelle Bakery for many years and ordered two cakes (to be used for groom's cakes) as well as an assortment of other bakery items for the dessert buffet. The cakes were double-layer, round, decorated cakes. They were good but tasted very dry and stale. Despite the fact that we put in a custom order, I had the feeling that they had been taken out of the bakery case and given to us at the end of the week. We also inquired about "custom" decorating and received much opposition. They refused to decorate a cake to our specifications (we wanted a tornado on the top of one cake - just something simple, a tornado is basically a triangle, after all). For custom decorating, you should look elsewhere.
The other bakery goods were fine, as well, but not as good as what we normally purchase in the cafe. I would recommend that you save your money and look elsewhere.
Bagatelle does offer an impressive assortment of flavors - for cake, filling, and icing- and it was convenient to be able to pick up our order on the way to the ceremony site on Saturday morning.
However - the order was not ready on time. They were almost a full hour late.
The cake was delicious but they were late and the cake didn't look like we wanted it. Her photos were not organized but just tossed together and she was really late to our original appointment.
The cake was so yummy! We picked Bagatelle because it was the first cake we tasted that tasted good...there are a lot of bakeries that are good at making pretty cakes, but the cake is only so-so. Just a warning - the owner can seem somewhat abrasive at first, especially if you are used to wedding vendors who like to kiss your butt. However, she is a very nice person, and the cake is totally worth it! They also do not charge extra for multiple flavors. All in all, it was the best price for what we wanted.
It was not what I had requested. Yes, the cake was amazing, but I had picked a grooms cake that she had a picture of and when it arrived at the cite, it looked like less time was spent on it. Even the brides cake was very poor looking. It was kind of depressing showing up and seeing that cake...
