Ann Taylor carries some beautiful dresses, but their customer service is TERRIBLE. They do not realize how difficult it is to coordinate the purchase of multiple dresses for a wedding. They are not helpful about anything. They only make a certain number of dresses and that is it. They will not go through extra effort to find you a dress in another size that may have just sold out. If you have flower girls in your wedding and you want to have a matching sash, they do not sell sashes separately from dresses. Even worse, they don't even provide you with a fabric swatch. I had to take one of the dresses with me everywhere I went since they wouldn't provide me with a swatch of the fabric. I decided to go with Ann Taylor because I fell in love with the dresses. I would have used J-crew or somewhere else if they had what I needed. J-crew is completely different - they will go to great lengths to find you what you need and provide you with swatches.
This line has really gone downhill. We ordered our bridesmaid dresses online as they do not carry them in any of the stores in our area. I called customer services to ask questions about the dresses and they were rude and extremely unhelpful, you would think customer service would be at a higher standard, especially for their wedding line when girls are spending a lot of money to outfit all their bridesmaids. The dresses arrived very quickly, which was a bonus, however upon receiving the dresses, we were very disappointed by the incredibly cheap-looking and feeling fabric. The "silk tafetta" dresses looked and felt like they were made out of wind-breaker material....that might have been fine had they not cost $215 each! When you add in S&H & taxes for each dress we spend $250!! For that price I expected a quality-made dress. That is not what you will find with Ann Taylor's wedding line.
I got my bridemaid's dresses at Ann Taylor from the celebrations collection. They looked great on everyone. They have petite sizes which meant my 5'1" matron of honor did not have to alter her dress. I went with simple black and I honestly believe the girls can wear them again. And even if they don't- they only cost abour $60.

The dress arrived in about a week, although the sizes run large so I was actually a 2 when I normally wear size 6 pants. Kind of nice to be in a 2 :)
The dress is the epitome of "simple elegance", and thankfully did not have to be hemmed or steamed at all. I wore about 1.5" heels. It's subtly off-white and emits a softer glow than the bright stark white would in all of our wedding photos. The neckline was perfect and did not show any cleavage, and the hidden zipper in the back is beautiful because it looks like it buttons up.
I loved this dress and it was surprisingly inexpensive, and the company was very quick to send me a different size. I also loved the big box it came in with a garment bag and hanger. Thanks AT!
Please hold the gasps, but Ann Taylor actually made my wedding dress. Granted, I did not have a traditional wedding, but I still wanted to wear a pretty dress. My dress is of excellent quality, the silk is luxurious and doesn't wrinkle easily. It has been very versatile, and has been worn for many occasions other than my wedding. Ann Taylor would be a wonderful choice for bridesmaid dresses as well. Every so often the website runs decent promotions and you can often get free shipping, or 15% off. Get on their mailing list and wait for a good offer. The pricing and quality is much better than many a bridal shops!
