Our wedding cake was fantastic! We got the chocolate cake with chocolate ganache icing. It was rich and delicious, and looked really beautiful as part of our fall vineyard wedding. My only complaint in working with ABC is that we did not get to sample the cakes/icings before ordering, we had to put down a deposit for a sample cake and didn't get to try different kinds. We loved the sample cake we got though, so it all worked out in the end. Would definitely recommend ABC to other couples.

ABC did a lovely job with our wedding cake. We wanted only a small cutting cake for ourselves and sheet cakes for our caterers to serve from, and they were more than happy to "go small" for us. The decoration on the cake was also a great emulation of the design in our inspiration photo. Best of all, the cake itself was delicious, and the buttercream icing held up despite the heat of our August wedding! I'd highly recommend the team at ABC--they are great to work with and make delicious and beautiful dessert!

Riki with Albemarle Baking Co. was fantastic to work with. We mostly communicated via email since we were planning from afar, but we did meet with Riki once before to chat about our wedding cake. Of course our vision for the cake completely changed after that meeting, but he didn’t seem to mind one bit. We just emailed him some photos of our new ideas and Riki assured us it wouldn’t be a problem. The one thing I was especially grateful for was Riki helped me pull off a surprise groom’s cake for my now husband! Again, we just communicated via email to keep it a surprise and Riki was great about explaining how my original idea wouldn’t work with the super perishable cake flavor I wanted, so instead he helped me figure out an alternative (but similar) plan. Part of the cake required these special chocolate candies from out of town, so I just ordered them online and shipped them to Albemarle...Riki was great about confirming the arrival of the package and executing the design. Our cakes looked great and more importantly tasted amazing! We can't wait for our complementary one year anniversary cake so that we can enjoy Riki's work again - YUM!

Our cake was beautiful!! Ricci at Albemarle Baking Company did a FABULOUS job! And it tasted fantastic! My guests were very pleased!! And so were we!!

Our cake was delicious and beautiful. Albemarle Baking Company utilized the flavors that we wanted and the cake turned out even prettier and more delicious than our tasting cake had been. That said, if I were going to work with ABC again, I would be more specific and communicative prior to obtaining the tasting cake. We sent ABC a picture of our inspiration cake prior to the tasting (it had non-cream colored icing), along with our desired flavors. We made a special trip to Charlottesville to pick up our tasting cake (there was also a snafu during the pick-up), and despite the snafu, we loved the cake. After letting them know we liked the cake, they told us that our inspiration cake would require a different type of icing. I was fairly annoyed that that icing was not on our tasting cake, when ABC should have known we wanted colored icing. In the end, we chose a different cake design that was not what we *really* wanted, which sort of stunk. But it still worked out fine, because the cake was lovely and tasty. (lovelier and tastier than one expects wedding cake to be).

Delicious wedding cake and great service!!! We were looking for something simple, elegant and tasty, and this cake fit the bill perfectly. We met with Riki at Albemarle Baking Company about 10 months before our wedding, with a guest estimate, and discussed our preferences and cake size. We ended up ordering a 3 layer round cake - a white sponge cake with Bavarian cream filling and white buttercream frosting. Riki had samples of some of the cake and icing flavors in the shop, which we were able to try before committing. Then, with our deposit, we got a free 6" cake made to the specifications of our wedding cake for us to take home and try.

On our wedding day, the cake was delivered and set up on time, fresh flowers from the florist were arranged on top, and it tasted fantastic!! The best part is that we didn't even have to save the top tier - they'll make and provide a 1-year anniversary cake (another 6" round) for us on our anniversary. :)

This cake was delicious and beautiful, no compromise needed. I'm so excited that we'll get another one (included in the price of our wedding cake) made specially for us for our 1 year anniversary. I highly recommend ABC.

Albemarle Baking Company was wonderful to work with. The cake looked exactly like I wanted and tasted delicious and I don't even like cake! Many guests commented on how tasty it was. I highly recommend Riki.

Albemarle Baking Company was a pleasure to work with. We chose them because we love all of their baked goods and have always loved one of their cakes (the princess cake), but we did try another cake when we were deciding on our wedding cake. It was also delicious, but we ended up selecting the princess cake. Riki was responsive to emails, incredibly professional and baked a beautiful, delicious cake that everyone at our wedding raved about. We also added an order of the French macarons about a month before the wedding and they were very flexible (all of this was done via email). I would certainly use them again for a large event and would definitely recommend them to others.

It was wonderful to work with Rick at Albemarle Baking Co. He perfectly translated my simple vision into a beautiful wedding cake. I was heart-set on having a pumpkin cake with cream cheese filling for our October wedding. Even though they had never made a pumpkin cake before, Rick assured us that they could & they absolutely delivered. The cake was moist & yummy! Their prices were great -this was one of the few items that fell right in line with our budget without any effort. I also love that you don't have to worry about saving the top of the cake, because they make you a 1 year anniversary cake at no cost.

The cake was very beautiful, made in the colors we wanted and with an artistic design that we provided. Riki recreated it very well. The cake tasted fabulous and keep well after the wedding. The guests truly enjoyed the cake.

the cake was perfectly simple and elegent in design and delicious and moist in taste! everyone loved it!

We wanted a simple, no-fuss wedding cake, and we found it at Albemarle Baking Cie. We love their princess cake, so we just asked a for a full sheet princess cake with extra sugar roses on top and that was it! We also got bread from them for Sunday brunch and it was delicious, as always. A very solid vendor for anyone looking for a wedding cake.

Riki made us a beautiful wedding cake, and the best part was that it didn't just look great, it tasted great too! He was very responsive and answered email readily.

I tried cakes at a lot of different places before finding Albemarle Baking Company. Their cakes taste good! Very important. So many other buttercream cakes just tasted absolutely awful! Please be kind to your guests and give them yummy cake.

They were flexible and helpful: they delivered it to my reception site, so it was all ready when the guests arrived. I added raspberries to mine, and made up a new way of decorating it (which I drew on a piece of paper and which they recreated very well.) They didn't put the orchids on the cake exactly the way I had asked, but it looked good. And tasted good!
