Welcoming guests with DIY Welcome Bags

When planning a wedding, it’s essential for brides and grooms to keep their guests in mind. Making wedding guests feel comfortable and at home will make the experience that much more memorable for everyone.
Making guests feel at ease is especially important for brides and grooms planning destination weddings. Providing guests with welcome bags filled with unique items not only makes your family and friends happy, but it also puts your stamp on your wedding day. Use our pointers to create your own.

Choose the Bag
The welcome bag does not have to be a bag. Depending on the destination of your wedding you could use anything from a tote bag to a large basket or sand pail. If you’re considering using a tote bag, think about monogramming it with you and your future spouse’s initials and the wedding date or monogram it with each person’s initials. Feeling more creative? Use a quote you have decided to incorporate into your wedding day or play up the destination by stamping or painting seashells, palm trees or other items on the bag.

Make it personal
Make this gift personal by putting a handwritten letter or note in each bag thanking and welcoming your guests. It’s a great way to show your appreciation.

Be creative and practical
Keep in mind that your guests are far from home and are not familiar with the destination. Put a map, itinerary and list of important numbers to ensure that your guests will find their way and won’t miss any activities you have planned.

You can also put a container of mints, unique pen from your destination, a pretty seashell, soft beach towels or a little candy and snacks. For those planning weddings in beach destinations, flip flops with you and your future’s spouse’s initials are also a nice touch.

If you’re sticking to a tight budget – don’t worry. There are plenty of affordable options and many online retailers allow customers to buy in bulk.
