How do I decorate my banquet hall for both the wedding and ceremony on a very tight budget?
I will be getting married in a month, and I am haveing trouble figuring out how to decorate the hall for both the ceremony and wedding. We don't have very much money and we will not be hiring a dj or band to play. What should I do about music? We will be using silk flowers and that is the only idea I have had so far. I am very lost and don't know what to do. My fiance has never been to a wedding in his life and doesn't know what all goes into the planning process, so I don't have any help from him. Our wedding will be on October 18, 2008 and are colors are brown, cream, and red. I would love to hear your ideas. Please help, I'm freaking out and stressed way more then I should be now. HELP!!!

Take a Deep Breath and read these ideas:
Find a dollar store near your area. You'll be able to find many things to get creative with.

Reception:
1. Purchase votive candles and votive glass holders
2. Purchase river rocks or glass pebbles
This can decorate the tables at your reception. Set 3 candles with glass holders and scatter RR or GP. Light the candles for a dramatic effect. You can also scatter silk flower petals instead.

If your Bridesmaids are carrying bouquets, have them place the bouquets at the front of the table where you and you new hubby will be sitting. The bouquets will decorate the main table. Now in between each bouquet, put a candle and light it up =)

Also you can buy small photo frames and develop a few nice pictures of both of you. Set them in the middle of the table surrounded by candles.

Ceremony:
scatter silk rose petals down the aisle. Sometimes the more simple, the more beautiful it is.

Key thing is Be CREATIVE!

If you are using silk flowers I think the more simple the better. You can get beautiful silk Gerber Daisey in a beautiful RED, look for the tall slender glass vase and use 1 -3 Gerber Daiseys. Glass vase should be about 8-10 inches tall and about 1 inch across. Look at Walmart for both flowers and vases.

Or Long Tall Calla lillys ~ these are beautiful and dramatic if put in a tall vase 18 - 24 inches. 3 Calla Lillys are enough.

Candles and pictures also good ideas.

Best of luck.

As far as music maybe you can download some songs to your ipod(if you have one,if not I'm sure you know someone with one) and maybe either rent some equipment if its within your budget to play it on or maybe you can find someone who has loud enough speakers to loan for the day.As for decorations the dollar store is you best friend. And I agree with they others about candles they are a little but they give off a bigger more intimate effect and the flowers will help as well.Relax though it will all be ok.Best Wishes!

Hi to one 10/18/08 bride from another.

We also don't have a DJ or band. We're doing everything with a laptop and rented sound equipment. We are in the DC metro area and renting the equipment from RCI Sound Systems (http://www.rcisound.com/) We gathered CDs from friends to get the songs we wanted, and downloaded the rest.

I agree with everyone else that inexpensive votives are a great way to go (I got mine at AC Moore. They come 12 to a box, and are already in small glasses. They're about $7 a dozen, but I've been using the weekly 40% off coupons to buy them.) We're buying silk fall leaf garlands, setting a medium size pumpkin in the middle, and surrounding that with the candles. (Garlands at AC Moore were recently on sale for $3.99 each.) Michael's has similar stuff. For a little extra zing, I'm spraying the pumpkins with a clear glitter paint.

Potted herbs are also a pretty and simple table centerpiece. I'd still surround them with candles, though.

Good luck!

Not every bride has a platinum budget, I design weddings and here is a look that is simple yet stunning!Use your season and decorate with beautiful fall items in your colors.
One way to stretch a tight budget that still looks beautiful is to use the table designs to mark your aisle for the ceremony.

Use tall eiffel tower vases topped with silk bouquets available at www.afloral.com and www.koyalwholesale.com for a great price, Use the pre made bouquets!!! they will save you hours of work and Big $$$, they come in all colors!!! You can buy a roll of ribbon as an accent.

Mark the ailse with these placed about 3 feet apart on each side to form the aisle.
Buy a matching 9 ft. garland to mark the ceremony spot and add a bag or two of silk petals on the floor.
After the vows, the aisle vases are then placed on the guest tables. add simple votives to the tables and you will have a great look on a very realistic budget.

as long as the tables have mutiple's of three or five, it will be ok. Try three or five candles in votives. As as a person who specializes in silk flowers make sure you fluff them up so to speak. Use something to bring it out like using colored paper or ribbon around the votive in the same color as your silk flowers. The bridal party bouquet can be used on the head table just have the girls place the bouquet in a vase. Try discount stores or "everything is a dollar"
style stores. Just get the same amount of each thing. are their tablecloths? If not please rent some or buy some or use fabric or rectangle tables or sheets if you have to. The smal things make a big differnce. GOOD LUCK!
