Wedding Gowns for a Worthy Cause

Posted by tgkdesigns on Sep 29, 2010

As we approach October, and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, many of us look for ways we can give back. Brides have an amazing opportunity to help the “Making Memories” organization grant wishes for metastatic breast cancer patients: either by donating your wedding gown to their “Brides Against Breast Cancer” project or by purchasing a gently used wedding gown through their nationwide Tour of Gowns events (at incredible discounts, by the way!)

The project has received more than 50,000 wedding gown donations to date! The organization has a few guidelines for donating, so be sure to check out their Web site for all the details.

Not only do individuals donate their gently used gowns, but designers, manufacturers, and bridal retailers donate NEW gowns, which make up more than half the inventory of the Tour of Gowns shows. These gowns are sold at 25%-75% off retail price and the proceeds are Making Memories‘ key fundraising source for granting wishes for deserving breast cancer patients. The fall / winter tour season is about to kick off with sales in Oregon, California, New York, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Washington (state). Check their site for full details on attending one of these remarkable events!
