Melissa & Nick

April 28

Asbury Park Grove, Charlotte, North Carolina

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

It was as all inclusive as we could find.  They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony space and a huge room for the reception.  The guests could walk into the reception straight from the ceremony space, which made everything so much easier.  The food was unbelievable and we are still getting compliments from people on how awesome it was.

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

Our photobooth (and the guestbook that went with it).  Our guests had a blast with it, and it’s awesome to have a slide of pictures of them, as well as a message to keep forever.  The food was incredible, as I mentioned.  Last, but not least, my mom made all the decorations…down to the handmade flowers on each table.  The time and love she put into everything was so incredible and everyone was in shock when they found out that she was the one that did it all, not a professional.

If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

Remember what the day is all about.  You are getting married to the love of your life and get to celebrate with all of your family and friends.  Don’t forget that it is not just about you and your husband.  It’s also about the people in your lives who love you and came to celebrate with you.

Tell us about the one moment from your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

As clichéd as it sounds, the love that I felt from everyone for Nick and I.  Just walking into that reception and seeing everyone truly happy for us, which led us into our first dance as husband and wife.  I don’t remember anyone else at the point, and it was just us, in that moment, dancing to the first song that we had ever slow danced to.
