Cristina and Alex were married at Estancia Culinaria in Redland, Fla. on February 16. “We wanted the ceremony and reception to take place at the same venue (and for my bridesmaids and I to be able to get ready there, too),” Cristina said. “We wanted to be outdoors to take advantage of the ‘winter’ weather, we needed a place that would allow us to bring in our home-brewed beer, we didn’t want a place with very strict limits as to when we’d have to end the party, and most importantly, we needed a place that would let me bring my dog, Bailey. Our first visit was so magical that we instantly knew it had to be the place.” The bride wore a sweetheart mermaid wedding gown, accessorized with a finger-tip length veil, while the groom wore a dark gray suit, accessorized with a pink tie. Bridesmaids and groomsmen were able to choose their own dresses and suits! “My favorite moment was walking down the aisle to the ‘Throne Room’ theme-song from Star Wars,” she said. “However, I think we both agree that we’ve never had more fun in a single day ever. It really never happens that you have all of your family and friends in one place.” Following the nuptials, the reception was held underneath a tent. Tables were decorated with wooden ranunculus, peonies, baby’s breath, and roses centerpieces in mix ‘n’ matched vessels and vases and dinosaurs atop wooden slabs. At each place setting, there was a favor box filled with pretzels, but the dessert display had even more — cake, cupcakes, candies, etc. Guests’ entertainment? “The photo booth!” Cristina said. “So much fun. Everyone loved it. We made our own backdrop to kind of match the color scheme, and it turned out great.”
Janette and David were married at The Women’s Club of Englewood in Englewood, N.J. on October 19. (Fun fact: they got engaged on Valentine’s Day!) “They offered a versatile space,” Janette said. “You can truly make it your own. . .this was charming and cozy, yet simple.” During the processional, she walked down the aisle wearing a fitted bodice wedding gown, accessorized with a brooch in her loose curls, with the themes to Star Trek being played on the piano. “There was plenty of goofs at the ceremony,” she said. “But the one moment that really shined for me was when my husband and I danced to ‘God Only Knows’ by the Beach Boys, and many couples of all ages joined us on the dance floor.” The decor was slightly celestial, and the twinkling lights created a romantic ambiance. One of their favorite details? “Our Nintendo ‘Kung Fu’ cake topper. How unique is that?
Julia and Blair were married exactly 3 months (and 1 day) after their engagement. “We said, ‘I do’ just a few miles from the high school where we met, where our mothers taught and became friends, and where our officiant introduced us during a theatre production,” Julia said. Keeping with the “nostalgic, geeky, rainbow-explosion exuberance of the day,” she wore a lime green dress and carried a bouquet of tissue paper flowers. “If white isn’t your best color, and you love showing off your legs, why not do something unexpected?” she said. Following the backyard ceremony, guests were surprised to hear Julia read an old love letter from Blair during toasts. “I loved sharing this memory with our nearest and dearest,” Julia said. Centerpieces were decoupaged wine bottles and mason jars with paper pinwheels, and the dessert display featured a cake topped with My Little Pony toppers, lollipops, cake pops, and more.
Karina and Taylor were married at the restored Spanish farmhouse Casa Feliz in Winters Park, Flor. on October 13. Pumpkins atop hay bales stating, “welcome to our wedding” greeted guests as they arrived. The bride wore a v-neck wedding gown and Mary Jane checkered print pumps whereas her ‘maids wore purple dresses and saddle pumps. Bouquets featured dahlias, calla lilies, mums, fern curls, and thistle. The outdoor ceremony and reception overlooked the golf course with twinkling cafe lights overhead. Tables were decorated with lace linens, red napkins, tea candles, and unique centerpieces — succulents with hot air balloons — while glass bulbs were filled with blooms for favors.
Elva and Bobby were married on July 20 at Limoneira Ranch in Santa Paula, Calif. “My husband and I knew we wanted an outdoor, rustic venue that would capture our vision of having a whimsical, festive Mexican and Persian multicultural wedding,” Elva said. “Everything about the site was picture-perfect: its rich history, the lemon orchards, the bocce ball courts, the old buildings, the green hills, the windmills, the views, the list is endless! Being able to have a hot air balloon on site for our guests didn’t hurt either.” The traditional Persian ceremony was, for many of their guests, a first introduction to the other family’s customs, since it consisted of items that symbolized a happy marriage to them — sweets, pastries, mirrors, flowers, honey and Holy Quran. The Mexican reception decor was “bright, bold, and full of fun colors,” she said. “We incorporated papel picado, maracas, Mexican sweet bread, mini pinatas, and of course, lots of tequila in our signature drinks.”
