We hope everyone had a happy Fourth of July and enjoyed the holiday weekend! This week on the blog, we’re talking summer wedding food! We’ve broken down the menu and rounded up some of our favorite seasonal fare for each category. Let’s start off with some delicious summer wedding appetizers!

Shrimp Cocktail – we love the idea of serving shrimp in chilled shot glasses with a bit of cocktail sauce!

Summer Salad – mix seasonal fruits like peaches, plums, melons and berries with fresh greens for a light, tasty starter.

Oysters – fresh raw oysters chilled over ice make a perfect seaside wedding hors d’oeuvre.

Sliders – hold guests over with bite-sized versions of this summertime classic.

What hors d’oeuvres are you serving at your summer wedding? Let us know in the comments!

Our Wedding Menu Details

When I first began doing my research on menus for our wedding, I was contemplating not having a paper menu at all but instead making a large chalkboard menu, similar to this.  As much as I love that, I realized it might be more practical for each guest to have a menu in front of them.  We chose to do paper menus that had the same theme as our invitations and place cards.

Everything matched and I was happy with that!  The menus were pretty, but I felt like they needed a little something extra.  That’s where the bling came in.  I purchased these at Hobby Lobby on sale, and they worked perfectly!  Here’s the end result:

I think even that simple little red rhinestone made the menus that much better and completed our black, white and red theme.  They were fun to put together too!

Our Menus

So, I was going back and forth as to what I wanted to do about our menu situation.  I’ve been to plenty of weddings and who really cares about the menus on the table anyways?  Since I’m obsessed with wedding details , I definitely appreciate them, but most people could care less.  However, they do dress up the tables, so we went ahead and used menus from Wedding Paper Divas that matched our wedding invitations.  Here’s our rough draft:

I’m happy how they turned out.  Sure, not everyone will remember or even know that they match our wedding invitations but that’s okay because they’re so pretty!

What did everyone do about your menus?
