My Wedding Dress Sneak Peek

Posted by apple on Apr 03, 2013

One of the most important decisions a bride will make during the planning process is choosing her wedding dress.  All eyes are on you, after all!  I had so many ideas on what I wanted my dress to look like, but once I put on “the one,” I just knew.  I picked a Mori Lee gown from Mary Me Bridal with ruffled organza, and a Tara Lauren sash with beaded detailing.  In the link to the gown, you’ll notice that the dress came with a removable flower, which I did not use.  I think the black sash was the perfect detail to complete my look. What do you think?  Pretty amazing, right? I loved my dress! And special thanks to my Grandma for that adorable hanger!

There’s a lot more wedding dress pictures where that came from… stay tuned!  I can’t wait to share all the dress shots with you when we get our pictures back this month!

Don’t Bare Arms

Posted by Bridal Market on Oct 17, 2012

Looking for a chic accessory that will pack a lot of punch without overwhelming your wedding-day look? Gloves can be the perfect addition you’re looking for. Designers added long opera gloves, short lace gloves and even gauntlets, fingerless gloves, to complete the look of their wedding gowns.

While gloves were once a staple in every woman’s daily wardrobe, they are now limited to cold weather and formal events, but after seeing the various pairings on the runway brides having an informal or formal, day or evening, ballroom or backyard wedding can put on a pair.

Here’s a glove-wearing tip: For the wedding ceremony, ask your seamstress to cut a slit on the ring finger of the left glove so your groom can easily place a wedding band on your finger.

Here are a few glove options from the Fall 2013 Bridal runway:

Anne Barge’s Parisian-inspired collection showcased both long and short options. On the far left is a pair of off-white short fingerless gloves, adorned with a small bow. In the center, sheer opera gloves, that go over the elbow, is the perfect complement to a tulle gown. Both gloves by Carolina Amato.

Pnina Tornai, exclusively at Kleinfeld, designed a pair of lace gauntlets embellished with silver embroidery, and if you look carefully you can see a large decorative bow at the top of each one.

Cover Up With One of These Must-Have Bridal Accessories

Posted by Bridal Market on Oct 14, 2012

A bride may want to order a cover up for her wedding dress because she wants her arms covered for a religious wedding ceremony, she’s getting married in winter or a cold climate, or simply that the cover up in question is so fabulous she can’t get married without it!

Brides still shopping for their wedding-day look may find it hard to resist the jackets, boleros, shrugs and other cover ups making their way down the Spring 2013 Bridal Market runways. Styles range from fur and faux fur, in white as well as other colors, sheer jackets, “pop overs” that literally pop right over you head in lace or tulle, and organza boleros with three-dimensional detailing.

Here you can see three different cover up styles that editors saw on the runways:

Alfred Angelo designed a Venise lace jacket with white bridal buttons up the back. One can easily switch from the solemn ceremony setting to the party atmosphere of a wedding reception in a matter of seconds.

JLM Couture showed a fur bolero with crystal embellished tulle inserts, the perfect accessory for a winter wedding even if it’s not snowing outside.

Exclusive to David’s Bridal stores is this embroidered tulle pop-over with three covered buttons in the back. The metallic thread adds a bit of shimmer to a bride’s wedding-day look.

A Different Dress?

Posted by morningglory on Dec 21, 2011

Good News! I found my wedding dress and put a deposit down to get it ordered! Yay!

The funny part is, in my recent post, I talked about how I knew which one was “the dress” and guess what? That actually wasn’t the dress I ended up picking out! When I first decided to go dress shopping, it was literally the week after MGB and I got engaged. I went just for “fun” to kind of see what was out there, while still keeping in mind I had a little bit of time before I needed to order a dress. At that time we also had not nailed down the venue, even though we had an idea of where we wanted to have it.
