Red, White, and Blue Wedding Dresses

Posted by Kim on Jul 02, 2012

We are feeling awfully patriotic here at WeddingWire HQ this week, and wanted to share a little red, white, and blue wedding dress inspiration. Of course, there are an abundance of white wedding dresses out there, but we found it interesting that two of the most popular non-white wedding dress colors from the most recent bridal market were red and (pale) blue.

Red: Vera Wang‘s entire collection (including the dress at top, left) was in shades of red and burgundy, while the finale gown at Romona Keveza (top, right) was a rich shade of crimson.

White: Layers and layers of white tulle on these ballgowns by Maggie Sottero (center, left) and Kenneth Pool (center, right).

Blue: Pale blue wedding dresses appeared in several collections, including Oscar de la Renta (bottom, left), and Angel Sanchez (bottom, right).

What do you think of these red, white, and blue wedding gowns? Let us know in the comments!

Love Her Look: Ashley Biden’s Wedding Dress

Posted by Kim on Jun 04, 2012

Vice President Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley married Dr. Howard Krein over the weekend in Delaware. She wore a custom ivory silk mermaid gown by Vera Wang, accented with draped tulle and an organza petal skirt. The illusion v-neckline and fitted silhouette are right on trend, but the look still feels traditional and feminine. If you’re a fan of Ashley Biden’s wedding dress, check out these two similar styles, straight from the Spring 2013 runways:

At left, the Alvina Valenta gown features the same illusion v-neckline and detailed skirt, while the Isaac Mizrahi for Kleinfeld gown pictured at right, has a v-neckline and fitted silhouette, but adds black floral details for a little edge. Which gown is your favorite?

The Best of Bridal Market: Maddison Row

Posted by meg on May 09, 2012

By Anne Chertoff

For the next few weeks, we’re asking bridal salon owners from around the country to share their favorite hot-off-the-runway looks from the most recent Bridal Market. Today, we’re talking to Lindsay Nowak of Maddison Row in Charleston, South Carolina. Here’s what she had to say:

Q: Was there one collection or gown that you thought was the “best of market?”

I loved Amsale’s collection. It was very cohesive and had a huge range. Also, Reem Acra was completely glamorous and fabulous. Each dress had such interesting detail and was executed flawlessly.

Q: Of all the gowns that featured color, whether pink, blue, black or red,  was there one or two that you think brides will fall in love with?

Q: Of the new designers who showed, who is going to be a breakout star?

Q: What’s your favorite new trend or dress detail of the season?

Now that we’ve had a little while to reflect on bridal market, we’ve been able to pinpoint many of the trends that you’ll likely see in stores very soon. And now, we want to hear from you. Which of these exciting new trends have you fallen in love with? Over the next few weeks, we’ll be asking you to pick your favorites.

Today, we’re focusing on colored wedding dresses. There were lots of dresses in shades other than white or ivory on the bridal market runways, and we want to know which hue you liked the most.
